I used to listen to Attila a lot back in 2011-2016 or so. I was a drug-addicted mid-20s college dropout going through a bit of a quarter-life crisis and their brand of douchecore party metal appealed greatly to me at the time. These days I’ll occasionally put on some of their early songs when I’m in the mood for some obnoxious breakdowns, but even then it’s a little cringy to look back on for sure. Good memories though.

I'm very much in the "listened to them in high school" camp. I loved Rage, Outlawed, and About That Life back then and honestly I still love them musically. I was also following Fronz on all the socials and buying Stay Sick merch... But I fell off when they released Guilty Pleasure. It just felt more of the same, but with less interest. I think I just grew out of it and it never made sense for me to be as in to it as I was because I'm straight-edge and I don't party at all. Then a lot of annoying people in my life started listening to Attila and that really turned me off lol. Good times good times

I think you summed up the appeal perfectly right at the end of the video! They're exactly like the Weird Al of the scene! The lyrics and music videos are a fun over the top presentation of both the "party every night rapper" and "rich famous rock star" images I saw all over MTV around the time they started playing. It's like they hold a funhouse mirror up to the two music subcultures that inspired them. I dont know if it's all intentional, but I like their music because the instrumentals are catchy and the lyrics are funny to me. Lyrics like "break shit fuck the world"are great to unwind after a long day of customer service, trust me.

I get that train of thought, but I just personally disagree. I think they fucking suck, plain and simple. If you want to be a Weird Al type of metal band or a Steel Panther, then so be it. But it was presented to the public as a real band. So many young kids ate this shit up like it was real music. That’s the problem for me. Steel Panther has now shown how to do this correctly.
@iamyetimanYT
@iamyetimanYT Жыл бұрын
@@allstopblue5717 also valid, but their instrumental talent is just too good for them to not be satire. You don’t really hear their talent anymore since it sounds like Fronz is essentially in creative control now. I also don’t think that their music is good, but they definitely have some bangers

Yeah I’ll die on that hill as well. Attila tapped into a market that made them a lot of money. They’re definitely smart as hell. Fronz is actually a genius businessman. Dude has made himself a multi millionaire doing party metalcore and investing that money in lucrative ventures. He’s able to play fun music, tour, and be covered financially for the rest of his life. Can’t knock the hustle at all. 🤷🏼They’re also really solid musicians who just choose to make party metal. If they ever wanted to make serious music, they could do it and probably gain a much bigger fanbase. Even their party music is pretty clever tbh.

damn this is so interesting that this made it to my recommendations. i used to work with chris fronz a lot on his guest vocals and vocals for like pre-production on a bunch of records. nicest dude i've ever worked with in the punk/metalcore scene easily. literally didn't drink at all when i was with him. maybe saw him drink one beer ever. never talked about women. talked about his son and gf/wife a lot at the time. honestly, very polar opposite to his brand. which is definitely not what i expected. very cool/sweet person in real life. idk if me being straight edge had anything to do with how he was around me but he felt very genuinely nice and warm. not a single bad vibe from him. also have no idea what he's like on tour, this is just my experience with him.

That live scene you showed them performing Soda In The Water Cup was at an old church venue called The Movement......where they completely wrecked the place. They built a new stage after that.

One time at warped my friends and I walked past Fronz and we were star struck. Even with all the hate we still really liked what they did until my friend goes “holy shit that’s fronz! (Not asking for a pic, not even asking for his attention just exclaiming that he was in front of us) Bro turns around and goes “if you guys didn’t pay for meet and greets I don’t want to talk to you” and walked away. Didn’t even go see their set that day, fuck that guy.

Yo! First time I heard Attila I wasn’t digging their sound, but I went to an LA bar known as The Riff-Vic Fuentes and Fronz were going to be Dj-ing a set that night and when Fronz walked in, they played Middle Fingers Up and his stage presence was fucking lit! Became a fan on the spot gave their a chance again and I’m still a fan today

Ahhh I remember partying to Attila back in 2010. That same year I went to see them open for We Are The End in Houston. Me and a couple friends were rolling a blunt in the car when Fronz completely randomly jumped into our car to roll a blunt himself, after introducing himself and seeing that we were doing the same he invited us to smoke in their shitty gear trailer attached to their touring van. While we were in there we somehow broke out a beat by banging on the inside of the trailer and Fronz and my friend did a freestyle rap session. Good memories! They were a really small band at the time. A year or so later I became a DJ and lost interest in a lot of deathcore. around 2015 I went to warped tour for the first time in almost a decade and it blew my mind when the headlining band came on stage and it was non other than Attila!

Saw them at local shows all around Atlanta before they got big. I knew they would get big back then. One show the bassist and one of the guitar players never showed up so it was Fronz, 1 guitar and 1 drum and maybe 15 people in the crowd. Fronz put on an insane show and jumped off the stage and shoved me into some people and we made a mosh pit of about 5 people. It stayed insane their whole set

I was interning as a PA at MTV when we got the assignment to work on the True Life episode that had Fronz on it. We chatted briefly during a filming break and he asked me for a cigarette. I held out my pack for him to grab one and he literally took the whole box and said “what a fucking idiot you are” and laughed as he walked away. I never smoked cigarettes again. this came out at the perfect time! i still listen to a few of their songs and my boyfriend asked me about them the other day, and i couldnt remember all the issues lmao. honestly idk how anyone else listens to them tho, i only can when im in a white trash kind of mood lmao i was a huge fan of Attila from around 2014- 2018, its one of the only bands i bought merch for and i have like $100 worth if you include Stay Sick stuff. i was one of the first people to sign up for Chris's social media app he came up with, it was called Spur but i think he changed the name if it still exists. i even talked with a few of the members on instagram because i would make fan edits, they liked when i made fake album covers for them. they were all really nice, even chris. but i stopped fkn with them when it became clear to me Chris was slowly becoming a con artist- i only bought all that merch because he was such a good salesman. all his stay sick stuff, besides the hoodie, was really poor quality for what you paid. the backpack i had broke within a couple weeks, the zipper handle fell off and the straps were really weird to the point that i stopped using it(hard to explain over text but they would pinch/pull on my shoulders and it hurt, regardless of how light the bag was. that bag was like $60+shipping iirc. i think what finally tipped me over the edge tho was when he started making ig accounts for his babies, then him and his wife broke up and i dont remember details but it just started to seem like he was very selfish and money hungry behind the scenes too... i was cool with the persona but that grossed me out oh, and i havent finished the video yet so please forgive me if this gets brought up, but he also started some weird online class thing that supposedly taught you how to be an entrepreneur or some shit. i specifically remember him mentioning it as a good replacement for college, because i told my mom that was my backup plan if college didnt work out for me, and she made me show her wtf i was talking about. thank god i realized a while later classes like that are a huge scam because i did end up dropping out lmao

In my late teens and early 20's when they dropped rage & outlaw those were fucking amazing and seeing them live was fun man at warped and other shows.
