Regarding their beginnings in the US it's probably on purpose that everything is opaque, there is one interview where they mentioned that they didn't have visas (it's incredibly difficult to get those if you're not already famous) and they might have been living in the US illegally for a while supported by their parents money (who also bought them an RV) you can imagine that Ben's parents in Dubai must have been rich to a point that they never really had to worry about running out of money. Pretty sure they will never really take about all of this openly due to potential legal risks.

A lot of people mistake everyone who comes from or lives in Dubai as being insanely wealthy. I went to school with Ben Bruce in Dubai, was good friends with his sister and still live in Dxb. If you moved all expats back to their home countries, the majority are middle class. However, with Dubai being tax free, it makes people appear wealthier than they actually are. @MandyMusiq3 жыл бұрын
@@Yusoo8 I don’t understand why people still believe this to this day. Label execs wanted to sign her as a solo artist and she agreed under the condition that she could make the music she wanted WITH her bandmates as Paramore. She didn’t want to be turned into a second Avril Lavigne, which is what atlantic originally had in mind. Hayley’s always been upfront about the contract and it was Josh that started this „industry plant“ argument because he was tired of not getting more attention than he thought he was entitled to as one of the main song writers. But I would say that it’s definitely the label’s fault, not Hayley’s. Taylor has said in an interview that they’ve always been aware of the contract and that it doesn’t matter to them who’s name is on it as long as they can all make music together. So i think calling her an industry plant is inaccurate.

Just found your channel today. Moving on to part 2 here in just a minute. Wanted to say I thought this was wonderfully articulated and was a great breakdown on the start of AA I first found the band in 2008 I would have been 17 at the time stumbled across their demos on myspace lol. They got me kind of into harder stuff like metalcore wise. I was already jamming stuff like cradle of filth and dimmu borgir uhmm you know of as I lay dying all that remains then in 2006 I want to say a buddy had introduced me to chiodos and a couple other names that won't come to mind at the moment. But then I found AA and I was slightly obsessed I won't lie it was like extremely refreshing yet slightly familiar all at the same time like when you first go to a friend's home but it feels like home like within the hour. I would almost call the stand up and scream album life changing. It twisted my musical tasted more towards metalcore I found so many other wonderful bands thanks to AA. So for me it's one of the greatest albums of all time in my books. I still love the band but it is a lot different now.

Joey Sturgis was on another level during this era. That dude made any band sound like a million bucks. Absolute genius. But the bands like asking Alexandria who had actual talent…mainly vocal talent, came out sounding better than the rest. Sturgis quite literally pioneered recording and mixing for an entire new genre of music all on his own and all on an insane limited budget with budget equipment for the most part. He had a few nice pieces of gear here and there but not much. He just had a knack for making bands sound way better then they should at their age. Again, the guy was a genius for the time.

One of my top 3 favorite bands. It was great seeing some of their old videos when they were going to the struggle but still having so much fun together. I have a new respect for them.

I remember making an essay and a presentation on Asking Alexandria in my English and public speaking class. No shame, head on, I couldn’t resist. Seeing this video brought a huge smile on my face. Thank you. 🤘🏽

Hey dawg, I wrote a comment to you a while back saying that your videos were great, but that you needed a less visually "busy" background, and this is my first time watching in a while (just the first band in a while that I know of), and I wanna say your visual presentation has gotten a lot better than what it was towards the beginning. Really can't wait to see what happens from here on out That being said, any chance for an eventual Cobra Starship retrospective? I don't think a proper one's been done, but given their unique story concerning going from a MySpace pop-punk band to opening up for Justin Bieber, how they managed to tap into the mainstream in a way that their peers didn't, how they still have such a dedicated fanbase after all these years, etc, I feel like you could do something really special with the concept if it interests you Cheers

Such a well-researched and well-put together documenting of the band and era of metalcore. Fun trip down memory lane. Cheers man

Rough around the edges at first yes, by the fact that they were writing those songs at such a young age is honestly very impressive.

Great video bro, keep it up!!! I remember seeing the final episode somewhere on the internet, after that I was instantly hooked. I've always loved that specific era of post-hardcore/metalcore. AA still are one of my favourite bands to this day.
