In this part of our wing ding avengerthon....
Steed gets groovy and Emma takes a pinch of pyschedelic .....
Due to some of the content in some of the programmes and the target audience this is for adults only and not for children. Some programmes are for mature audiences due to the nature of the content and ones without 18+ restrictions are best viewed by young persons of 13 years and upwards. Some of these documentaries are not for the prudish.
In this documentary series we take a look and another look and even a third glance (hypothetically speaking) of T.V programmes and Films with a 'cult' edge.
If they aren't cult currently then they should be !!
Each programme looks at the genesis of the programme or movie and a review - some are spoiler free - some are not. Even if you know the plot though it is welcoming to look at the series or movie again.
So what is it I hope for in my series ? Well it is my intention to share with you dear viewer my knowledge of things which I enjoy very much and I hope what is reviewed will inspire you to go and have a look for the programme or movie. Some you may have seen before - others may be truly novel.
That is it pure and simple - I don't want any financial rewards as I will be using snippets already copyrighted and this is damned cheeky - the knowing of sharing my knowledge with you is reward enough.
Don't forget to support the originators of copyright - so wonderful retro T.V and movies get to see the light of day.
I hope this acts as an inspiration for you to look...look and look again with me.
Every epsiode is a labour of love and it's only me and a very *basic home editing software combi which I cobbled together that produces the work.
(Update * Not so basic as using Filmora - they are wonderful)
I hope you can also see the transformation as the series goes along.
Any constructive comments, criticisms and memories you have would be most welcome and if you love what I do hit like and subscribe.
Thank you to all the regular people that bite off this nugget of nostalgia and follow my little show.
Maybe you could suggest things for me to look please share them.
No infringement is intended - I am a novice to this and sometimes oblivious to the complex world of copyright but all clips and music are used in the faith of enhancing this review. On occasion one picture can be worth a 1000 words and can give you a feel of the show or movie reviewed.
Enjoy - Crab xx

Also worth noting that "The Living Dead" and "Epic" reference Hammer horror. In the US when NBC switched to all-color in '66, the other networks followed so all TV production was color by the 1966-67 season. The film industry also dropped B&W by 1967 except for a few ultra-low budget and period-piece stories. The B&W Rigg season was the best as it had more of a hard edge and less camp than later seasons.

I totally agree. I love that season and it was terribly Mod - it swung when London began too they had their finger on the pulse. I was disappointed with the change to Mrs Peel though the colour season did fit admirably well with the Summer of Love and hypothetically speaking amphetamine was most definitely switched for acid culture. I liked Jennifer Croxtons character and dare I say would have liked her cropping up in a few more episodes during Thorsons tenure. The states were lucky to switch to colour - it happened in the U.K in 1967 but only for the wealthy. Many Brits were still watching black and white well into the 1970's. O wish we had exported the colour series of out of the Unknown to the states if so I would imagine we wouldn't have one and a half episodes of it left in the archives today - as well as top of the tops and colour me pop. It's a shame we never traded more with the States in the 60's and 70's. However a David Keel story cropped up in the USA when his season was never exported/shown there so anythings feasible. Here's hoping 🦀

@@LOOKLOOKLOOKAGAIN We didn't get a color TV until '69 or '70. The Avengers became the epitome of chic, mid-60s Mod design. Funny how it totally ignored the youth/counterculture. Like Star Trek, it didn't become a cult hit in the US until early 1970 with the Rigg/Thorson seasons in syndication playing M-F. Too bad we got none of the many horror/sci-fi anthologies. All we got was: The Prisoner, The Champions, The Saint, The Protectors, Secret Agent, The Pursuaders, UFO, Space 1999, Benny Hill, Monty Python, Upstairs Downstairs -- and in the 80s a smattering of Dr. Who, Blake's 7 and Red Dwarf on PBS stations.

Hi there! Since this episode lacked comments, please allow me to thank and congratulate you on this series, which definitely deserves more views! All the best from Paris (your use of French is delightful)!

I recently watched series 4 - 6, and loved it. As with most people, it's Steed and Peel I most enjoy. So many enjoyable episodes, there's no way I could ever pick a favorite. It was such a treat to enjoy the show once again.

Aweeee, thank you so much - to receive praise from a proper Parisienne too - adore France (one of my favourite countries) - I try to give the mother tongue of most countries my best shot in my reviews. I did a night course on the French language before I went to Paris to look around the fantastic museum and arts. Fell in love with Paris , it's the only city I felt a sense of belonging rather than just a tourist. Also think it's the most decent thing to do is learn a few phrases before going abroad. They came in handy and I was delighted that the Parisiennes helped me further and I managed to order a meal when we went to La Fermette Marbeuf (a hymn to Art Nouveau)- and what we ordered - we received - lol. The steak arrived À point - just how I like it. I will keep practicing. Your comment is simply B.C.B.G . All the best - Salut -Crab

Another excellent entry in your "Look, Look & Look Again" reviews! It wasn't planned, but I seem to catching the Avengers reviews way out of order, but they are all totally enjoyable, & I'm glad you devoted single entries for each major series.

Thank you - I tend to do that as there was so much to cover in this wonderful series - it gives my subscribers the opportunity to dip in and out , watch a season they particularly enjoy or watch the lot as a mini series - with a nice cup of tea and a biscuit - here's hoping my little shows are your custard cream moment as the Autumn and Winter months are now with us and things become more cosy (if you're UK based of course). Best-Crab

The only thing missing for me is seasons 2 and 4. I'm looking forward to your opinions on Dr. Martin King ( Mission to Montreal was excellent!) and Venus Smith (who, though entertaining , was no match for Mrs. Catherine Gale). As for this season (5), I think " Who's who?" is one of my favorites though I think Diana Rigg left with her last few episodes being the best of the best. She certainly left on a high note!

Oh to be entertained not be subjected to minority bingo. The danger here and now is creating bigger divisions and intolerance than healing it. No one likes things rammed down ones throat - true change and successful change is that done subtlely. 🦀

You are using the irritating and American form of Diana's title. It should be Dame Diana Rigg or just Dame Diana NOT Dame Rigg. The Dame title is never used with just a surname.

No need to apologise Princess for who you are. In the current crisis we have worldwide we can see that the neon gods have truly run away from the people. Such a shame but we need to have optimism, take everyday as it comes and remember how insignificant we are compared to the majesty and might of mother nature. 🦀 x

@@princesshassim6009 I adore that film. Another recommendation from me if you haven't seen it is 'Picnic at Hanging Rock. Thank you so much for the recommendation Princess it has compelled me to watch it again. I looked into aboriginal myth and magic and believe this to be very powerful as it harnesses and taps into nature. Magic, like electricity, is there and around us but we just cannot see it. Xx
