Definitely imho one of the best sci fi shows ever made. It's my number 1. So cerebral, scary and brave to put a show out like this and at 7 p.m. Nothing scared me much as a child but this did , i can remember curling up on my mums lap as a little one watching this and traumatised by the plague victim, roundheads, ghosts of soldiers on the station, the goose pillow attack, man with no face and plenty of other things in it's short run. I thought big finish done the programme proud as well. Unfortunately the sheer caliber of writing, acting and the fact the people involved didnt treat the viewers as dumb is something we will never see again. I also like the fact that the show was so sad - the fate of Tully and the sufferance of the soldiers was very dark and to use just an empty corridor and with careful lighting and acting turn it into a submarine running out of oxygen was unbelievably clever and believable. I may watch these all again sometime soon. Best 🦀🍎

HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES is a favorite of mine. I saw it first I believe when I was in my early teens, or possible 12, as I saw it in color when my family got our first color TV in 1969 when I was 12. I still like this film imensely, and have recently noticed o felt that the film does comment on class. Dr. Mortimer is shown for example to be a real snob, who looks down on those he considers lower class. I like it much more than the 1939 film.

Irt is too bad that not mentioned in the documentary of the use of American actors. In most cases, this was forced upon the creators of the fims in order to get distribution in the USA. However, I think that the creators used the American actors as a kind of comment regarding Britain at that time. Especilally in QATERMAS II, The USA is sort of used as a negative tool by the creators, except in X THE UNKNOWN, with of course Dean Jaeggar, I believe a Canadian, but from Hollywood.

Fiirst of all, thanks for the tip on the name of the very old now tv series about the girl ill in bed. I can look for it now. Film distributers move in very mysterious ways don't they? you'd think that TALES FROM CRYPT would be remastered by now, it being the first & most sucessful of the 70s Anthology catalogue I was under the impression that TORTURE GARDEN was too old & rare to be given the remaster treatment, the same for DR. TERROR, BUT it seems not, in fact there was a...5 year gap between T. Garden & Tales from the Crypt., for what ever reason. I recall wondering why BEAST FROM 20,000 fathoms & VALLEY OF GWANGI were among the last to be released on dvd format, but it turned out it was because they were both Warner bros. films the rest Colubia & Hammer, perhaps it's the same here.

Growing up in the mid 1980s, the small mom & pop owned video rentals near my house in Queens, NYC had no idea where to place '70s "euro-trash/soft-core" films from Europe. They didn't belong in the XXX adults only section, and since most renters wanted newly released films from Hollywood, films like Emmanuelle were placed all the way in the back wall bins and spinning racks under Foreign films. I believe my friends and I must have rented every Tinto Brass and Jesus Franco comedy and Emmanuelle- rip off in existence!!!!

May look at Brass in the future he did some corkers , loved Paprika and Salon Kitty not to mention Caligula. The Emanuelle rip offs are some of my favourites mainly because of the beautiful Laura Gemser and the carefree, heady liberalness that could have only ever been made in the 70's. @@juniorjames7076 It is a decent enough film without the sex however it would lose, imho, a layer of decadence as it's the closest thing to seeing what the vice of Rome was like warts and all.
