In the next thrill a scene documentary of our Avengerthon .....
Steed gets a new partner and Emma goes mod !!
Due to some of the content in some of the programmes and the target audience this is for adults only and not for children. Some programmes are for mature audiences due to the nature of the content and ones without 18+ restrictions are best viewed by young persons of 13 years and upwards. Some of these documentaries are not for the prudish.
In this documentary series we take a look and another look and even a third glance (hypothetically speaking) of T.V programmes and Films with a 'cult' edge.
If they aren't cult currently then they should be !!
Each programme looks at the genesis of the programme or movie and a review - some are spoiler free - some are not. Even if you know the plot though it is welcoming to look at the series or movie again.
So what is it I hope for in my series ? Well it is my intention to share with you dear viewer my knowledge of things which I enjoy very much and I hope what is reviewed will inspire you to go and have a look for the programme or movie. Some you may have seen before - others may be truly novel.
That is it pure and simple - I don't want any financial rewards as I will be using snippets already copyrighted and this is damned cheeky - the knowing of sharing my knowledge with you is reward enough.
Don't forget to support the originators of copyright - so wonderful retro T.V and movies get to see the light of day.
I hope this acts as an inspiration for you to look...look and look again with me.
Every epsiode is a labour of love and it's only me and a very *basic home editing software combi which I cobbled together that produces the work.
(Update * Not so basic as using Filmora - they are wonderful)
I hope you can also see the transformation as the series goes along.
Any constructive comments, criticisms and memories you have would be most welcome and if you love what I do hit like and subscribe.
Thank you to all the regular people that bite off this nugget of nostalgia and follow my little show.
Maybe you could suggest things for me to look please share them.
No infringement is intended - I am a novice to this and sometimes oblivious to the complex world of copyright but all clips and music are used in the faith of enhancing this review. On occasion one picture can be worth a 1000 words and can give you a feel of the show or movie reviewed.
Enjoy - Crab xx

Same in 🇨🇦 Canada; in (large?) part due to superior recording technology, we also saw the Emma Peel Avengers as our first series.

Thanks for your comment. Canada and USA were light years ahead in technology back then especially colour series. On the upside many colour shows wiped in the UK were saved by Canada (Doomwatch series 2) and were screened in Colour and returned. It is shameful what we wiped in the UK. Dont know uf in Canada you ever got a series callee Ace of Wands ? 🦀

Dame Diana Rigg was beautiful and very witty. I hate it when modern starlets claim they are the first strong fighters. Diana Rigg could kick the asses of several men, then flip her hair and keep going. She could be strong and glamorous. She had many fans. Even The Beatles were fans. Paul McCartney showed up at her home in 1967 to give her a copy of their new album Sgt Pepper. Supposedly the "Hour That Never Was" crossing a runaway crosswalk inspired the cover of "Abbey Road". One thing that has puzzled me was the tie between the Avengers and the Bond films. Several Avengers cast members ended up in Bond films. Honor Blackman and Diana Rigg are usually considered 2 of the best Bond women. Even Steeds steel brimmed hat ended up in Bond. Diana Rigg was in OHMSS, but so was future Avenger Joanna Lumley, one of Blofield's allergy patients.

Thanks for some further fun facts. Never knew about the beatles story. Diana Rigg was awesome as well as Honor Blackman. They showcased the emancipated female. Still kicking ass but without having to be butch to do it and with such style and finesse. The bond connection is interesting for sure and doung my views I notice the connections between Hammer and Blakes 7 and Doctor Who, Bond and The Avengers but the joy is they are all programmes and movies in their own right - maintaining their identity but borrowing a little from a portfolio of some of the best. 🦀

@@LOOKLOOKLOOKAGAIN I was curious about where you got the color images from the black and white season 4? I liked the stories better in season 4 than 5, but I loved Diana Riggs's beautiful Auburn red hair in season 5. Interestingly, in "Death at Bargains Prices," she supposedly knew nuclear physics but thought a Nuclear weapon could be tiny, although having the entire store be a nuclear bomb didn't make sense either. I guess "The Avengers" didn't have to make sense. It was all fun and well-acted.

@user-vj2wt7jh7j Some of the images were colorised by myself through painstaking processes. There are more to my vlogs for my subscribers. Thanks for asking. 🦀

When Diana Rigg started clicking her fingers you knew someone was going to get their arse well and truly kicked 😁 And I've got a graphic novel where Steed and Mrs Peel team up with Batman and Robin sixties series version and fight Catwoman and the Cybernauts Bliss 🎯

I have only seen Elizabeth Shepard in one thing.....Omen 2.....and it didn't end well for her. As for the show itself, I agree that season 4 was Diana Riggs best season as was season 3 for Honor Blackman. These years were the zenith for the show, I feel. " Too many Christmas Trees" is a traditional episode (my favorite) that is a must for me to watch every Christmas! Lol

Did it actually exist (talking of the version of England in the show). As a student of the 60's (and one wi vivid memories of my much younger years and the world around me) i can say YES it did. England WAS until the 70's got into full swing safer and cleaner. And London in the 60's was often accustomed to unusual sights that helped enhance it's charm. BUT as to the rest...well, let's just say Brian's job WAS to entertain, and in that he did it very well. Let's face it, the Yanks still think ALL of England is like London with just a few postcard villages around the edge. Well we both don't know don't we hon....if only they knew, lol....

Absolutely. It was a decent selling point which hiked The Avengers popularity no end. I always think The Avengers represents a colourful landscape which we would love to believe exists. I recall Patrick Macnee recalling, in a documentary, that a snapshot of 'this' London/England existed (minus diabolical masterminds) only if you were affluent and living in a certain part of the city. I love Avengerland the way it is and wouldn't change it for the world - it captures that 60's zeitgeist of imagination and optimism with sophistication - perfect !
