This is a simple explanation, but its too simple. It glosses over the reality of how these people manage their money. They don't spend their own cash, as in they don't use debit on their bank accounts. While bank accounts are used to hold some cash, the vast amount of their spending is through ELOCs on their assets. They spend on credit lines from the private banking arms of major banks. These are usually extremely low interest.

Cash is also whatever is in bank accounts, it’s just cash in storage Yes shares are liquid assets but when you own 11% of Amazon, you can’t sell all of that a few days without crashing the share price and losing like half of it
@xrpmaxi88392 жыл бұрын
Yes. Most of Jeff Bezos' net worth is liquid but not being able to sell stocks to access quick cash isn't what makes Bezos' level of liquidity an issue. It makes his net worth highly volatile. It goes up and down with the stock market. He has a high net worth but can't do much with it. As opposed to the Queen of England who has a high net worth but not much of it is liquid.
@lagon78302 жыл бұрын
Yes, a large portion is liquid. But, economies are far more complex than liquid assets can be liquidated quickly. If Bezos decided to get out of Amazon, he'd have to do it over a long period of time, else he'd crash the price and cripple one of the largest employers in the country. It's easy and quick to sell shares, but it has catastrophic consequences.
