Try adding in some more ground straps. One from a bolt near the alternator straight onto the chassis and one from the battery straight onto the chassis. Sounds like high resistance. Take a test from the block to the negative post on the battery and see how much resistance you have.

exactly what I was gonna say! I've done 4 kswap and it seems that grounding is always the number one issue when it comes to weird sensor readings and random voltage drops.

Being from the car audio world, almost reminds me of grounding issues. Maybe try and add a few extra engine to body grounds. Also look into the "big 3" (basically adding direct voltage connections from the alternator to the battery).

Solid advice, I find it hilarious when racers want to run an HO alt but don’t do the big 3. Big 3 is key to any electrical system that’s higher than factory draw!

Had the same issue on my DC5 Type R...Replaced the TPS and calibrated it and that solved the issue

Imo check your grounds, just recently got rid of an issue where my vehicle power would cut out and kill the truck. Ended up being a ground cable

Hi Devin. If the issue will not be fixed by changing the alternator the maybe the problem is with the battery relocation. The battery acts like a voltage regulator, it keeps the voltage stable when the alternator is running. If this is the case you can solve the issue by adding a large capacitor. Another thing that can cause problems may be the ground connection, especially from the alternator to the chassis. A weak ground connection will cause voltage drops when the current is high(like a resistor). Anyway hope you find and fix the issue. 😊

DC power makes amazing high output alternators 180 or 280 amp is what they have. I got one and I never see below 14 volts. Smeedia has one on his h6 as well

Motor City Reman makes some really good custom alts. I have a 200amp one wire on my 1g. Worked incredibly well and they are more heat resistant.

I had a voltage drop issue as well on my ST. When the voltage dropped it sounded like it was cammed. Changed alternator plenty of fuses battery terminals. It was the battery monitor system plug on the negative terminal, they run off a Lin bus and it wasn’t giving the right signal. Would cause a bunch of weird issues such as fast blinking left turn signal but right was fine and the cammed lope issue whenever it dropped below 13v. Was such a pain in the ass glad I finally got it figured out.

Hey man, you should look into upgrading the "Big 3" main power and ground lines from your battery to possibly a thicker gauge if not already 1/0 or something close. Lots of guys in the car audio industry use thicker wire in these locations to prevent voltage drops when pushing 2-3000 watts under a 150amp load or something crazy like that. Undervolting can easily cause components to overheat or malfunction in any wiring scenario related to your main power supply, so this could be a possible swing at your voltage drop issue. Also, look into bigger batteries from companies like XS Power, or high output alternators from builders like Mechman. These can also keep stable voltage. Could also maybe convince you to build a nice sound system in the Type-R as well.

I think the alternator will fix all the issues. Like you guys mentioned, every time throttle goes in it drops voltage and tps drops. It being ride by wire does line up with it. The Haltech and dash also take more power since an RSX don't have that stock either.

yo, as soon as you did that pull ur check engine came on. also for the TPS, in the haltech software you can set the idle frequency so it wont read incorrectly

i chased charging system issues on my gt350 all year last year, such a pain in the ass. it ended up being the motor wiring harness after Ford replaced the alternator, twice

I’d personally recommend JS alternators. Picked one up for a sub and lighting system in my Accord and haven’t had a single issue. They’re self excite capable as well. Also if you haven’t already, look into a AGM battery instead of lead acid; they deliver considerably more instantaneous output than that of a conventional lead acid. XS power is a solid choice IMO in that regard.

Electric power steering will easily draw 80amps from the alternator and stock K24 alternators are only 125-135amps. Add 3 pumps @ 20 amps each that's 140amps alone @ max draw. That's just a random guess too. Could always get a multimeter to measure amp draw.

Try the throttle pedal out of the red civic. See if it goes away? ..There is two potentiometers in the throttle pedal (variable resistors) one might not be working right when you let off the pedal, one sends high voltage the other a low voltage to the pcm depending where the pedal is in it's stroke, it needs both signals to be good, o.k on accel but not o.k with your foot off...🙂 might be worth a try!

if the alternator doesnt fix it, try find a heavy duty alternator or get a duel battery setup. have one battery for engine stuff and the other for electronics. it will help not put so much load on the battery. alot of 4x4s have duel setup so you can find info on 4x4 websites

I know it would definitely be a lot of work but I think you should definitely go through a lot of the wiring. Most of the issues I feel like go back to the wiring on this car. Maybe see if nick could help you?

Ditch the rear mounted battery and mount it in the bumper area. Upgraded alternator and call it a day.

Get a after market alternator like MechMan or JS or Brand X there all good brands n you should look into Lithium batterys as well like a X's Power Battery it will definitely help you man keep up that great work love your videos n stop doubting yourself you got that it factor man

I can't remember but did you relocate some pulley driven parts on the engine and have to get a longer/shorter auxiliary belt and reroute it . Am wondering if the alternator is spinning the wrong way , I don't think it running backwards would alter voltage but it will make it all run hotter because the internal fan is spinning the wrong way and it could be the heat causing the voltage issues on the internal reg/rec.

Even with weak alternator, should not dip below 12.6 if battery is good. Not on a transient spike like that. I would check wiring first. Make sure nothing is loose and grounds and power are sufficient spec.

T7 design do a nice k series high out put alternator 175amp or a 320amp as apposed to the oem 120amp. very reputable company as well

Stop driving all the fuel pumps if you don't need them. That's probably 30 amps right there. You don't need 3 pumps until you're in boost.
