I used to use the old 2oz tobacco tins for this job. The reflective strips I used to cut from old hi-viz vests found by the roadside or just thrown away and used plasticine to fill the tins with. This video has brought back some memories. Nice job 👍

@tillysgunstocks 😉 I'm the same, I think I've got a touch of OCD🙄. I shoot left handed, play pool left handed. Yet I would be classed as right handed because that's the one I write with 🤷🏻♂️

What a super idea 👍 definitely worth a go for some quiet zeroing/shooting Think I might also try drilling a small hole near the top on the back edge so I can hook it up to a backstop.

Good idea mate. It'd be easy enough to fashion a little stand/prop to keep it upright. I used to just wedge them at the base of a fence post but there's certainly room to evolve it further 😉

Great idea to have in the gunbag. I have already an empty tin with a small cloth with some Ballistol on it to wipe off my guns. I,m only afraid that i shoot straight trough with the most of my air rifles but it's easy to cut an extra round metall plate for in the bottom.

I'd love to know if the putty handles the high power stuff mate. It's fascinating stuff and absorbs way more impact energy than you'd imagine it would.😉

Amazingly I did almost the exact same thing way back about 35 years ago using an old tobacco tin and ballistic putty,carried it on my hunting trips - this though is better 👍Great minds think alike!

That'll do donkey. Good idea there sir. I've been using my tins as targets 4 awhile now, filling them with sand or gravel, and applying foil tape 4 night shooting. This is a nice twist, I'll b fabricating some of my own. Thankin' ya👍

Great idea for out in the field for a quick zero but I do prefer a larger lead lined type for general shooting as it is easier to recover the clean lead for recasting into reloaded practice firearm ammunition, I assume something a little more common here in the US.
@tillysgunstocks10 ай бұрын
Hi mate, I've got a few vids of my lead lined traps on here. I like to re use the spent lead myself so it's nice and easy to re melt it. The putty is quieter on impact though but not so good for recycling the lead 😉
@samanthabennett119410 ай бұрын
Hmm, it looks to me like you've been raiding my craft drawers? 🤔😅
@LowkeyAirgunner7 ай бұрын
Seems like a tub of this is arround 8 kenadian buckaroos so not too bad! Id be curious to try a simple cloth & painters tape version to see if it causes ricochets (Cloth -> cardboard anti ricochet section -> painters tape to hold everything in and fix it afterwards)
@tillysgunstocks7 ай бұрын
Mate this stuff is fantastic especially in a larger pellet trap. The only downside is if you want to recycle the lead,it's a bit of a nightmare but it's very safe from ricochet and quiet 😉

Great idea.
@russellham209410 ай бұрын
And.... If you are worried about the pellet coming through the back, you could cut another redundant tin lid as a base behind the putty?? Maybe include some sort of basic hanger / or hook as well??

I used old shoe polish tins filled with glazing putty and a farthing stuck in the middle to aim for . Not a lot of success with my old bsa springer , was happy to hit the tin 😂

I should have patented this idea. I've been using them on my squirrel feeders for years. I put it on a few Facebook pages..now everyone is using them.😂

Would I be worth using some double sided and putting a folding leg on the back so I would stand up? Don't know if it would stay put getting a good .22 wallop. Thinking about it two tent pegs/wire pegs would probably work. Very handy it's pocket sized though.
@tillysgunstocks10 ай бұрын
There's definitely mileage to evolve it further mate. A small ground spike of sorts would be perfect ..😉

Hi mate, have you tried the putty? Admittedly I'm only running sub12,but it's strange stuff.. I'd be surprised if it wouldn't stop 40ftlb at an inch thick.. probably not in a pellet tin though.. if you do ever try it,it'd be great if you could let us know how it handles the high powers 😉
