You know what's really sad? Is that you can't just say to a neighbor that they are bothering you because they don't care. You could be very forgiving and reasonable and certain people will take advantage of your kindness. When you live in a high-rise, it's expected that you will be considerate of your neighbors, but some people will not reciprocate, they will not play by the rules. You are absolutely right to record this. 👍

Definitely learned my lesson or I would ask if there’s multiple people that live above me… my last apartment and older guy lived above me and I loved it so much because he had no kids and he was very peaceful😊 my current apartment she has two kids one is a toddler and they slam around my ceilings every day like they have no home training with inconsiderate and obnoxious parents. My daughter is scared to go to the restroom by herself because of the loud banging every day.

My mother is dealing with a neighbor harassing her. They have spit, tossed cigs, poured beer, etc over the balcony. She jumps on exercise equipment hitting the floor hard, and her kids run, jump, and stump hard. They follow her around the apartment making noise, banging on the floor, or dropping things hard.

@Jay Fingers. It’s actually totally normal. Seemingly no problems . I hope it stays this way. If my apartment complex was burned & I had to evacuate I would end up homeless. I’m estranged from my toxic family of origin ., went no contact 20 years ago. No family, no friends. I’m just praying to God to protect me from all the CHAOS that we are surrounded by and not just the fires. I’ve never seen so much UNCERTAINTY in my life and I’m not young. I’m a boomer and so much is hitting me , rent raise, food prices, something new everyday. So much stress. Are u also in California and if u are , the cost of living is astronomically high. Install small/medium wireless speakers to the ceiling . . I'm typically kind, but dont tolerate disrespect. You'll be surprised how things work itself out once they realize the inconsideration can go both ways. It's helped calm things down in my situation.

You should buy a ceiling thumper/vibrator. Its like $80 and it sends a MESSAGE. It also drowns out their noise. I live under a single mom of three. 2 grown adults and one 8 year old. her son likes to blast music at random hours and the 8 year old likes to run laps. The flooring upstairs is also wood. It works so well that its almost crazy lol!

I'm going through this with my neighbors,the noise is terrible and she using her son as a pawn, there's at least 12 people in a 3 bed room apartment,the jumping, banging, running, stumping is off the chains.only peace I get is when police are called.been to court 3 times and going back in July.hopefully this is the end. I called the police at 9 am because noise,and seen her the next day and she told me that she getting a transfer which shes upset about because now she has to travel far to get to work and get her son to school ok that's not my problem.

It is always the upstairs neighbours who are problematic... my love and I are currently at our breaking point... our upstairs neighbours have been renovating their (around) 45 square meter apartment since february 2023, almost everyday from 8am to almost always 10pm (they stop at 7pm sometimes and there are a few days when they don't do anything at all, but that is like 2-3 days in a row) and I work from home most of the time and of course they leave no notes on the bulletin board of the building, so we can't know which days they are going to work or not so i can't decide which day work from the office or not... not to mention they already caused damage to our apartment which we are still waiting them for to pay (very visible cracks on the ceilings, and a professional confirmed their renovation is the cause)... I have had enough, my love has had enough, all of the other people in this apartment building have had enough and they still plan to keep this "renovation" on for at least 2 years. Like seriously, in this amount of time I could build an entire family house! So yeah, enough is enough and we are going to fill a "property protection procedure" and charge them. Time to put an end to this nonsense and if they don't cooperate we are going to get them thrown out from this building.

I go to this every day in my apartment with kids running around my ceiling every single day, but the girl that lives upstairs cause it Apartment living I said so why be so inconsiderate of your neighbors if it’s so-called apartment living. She let her kids run around from 9 AM until 12 AM. Literally all freaking day like they have no home training. I hear them arguing and fighting as well. Loud music and TVs and everything. My lease is up in four months and I would rather move back in with my mom. Many people dont seem to understand the shaking/vibrating apartment thing. I despise having both earbuds in because I need to hear my surrounding. Even when i do the building shakes. Problem is even when i have decent upstairs neighbors, my sister (roomate) is so inconsiderate and lets every door slam behind her like shes the main character. It doesnt matter what you say or how many times, they just don't (and will never) care about anyone but themselves. Im.havi gg similar issues with two new upstairs people who are young bros and are dimwitted and oblivious to societal norms of general quiet hours. But there are some pple that are soo rude and disrespectful that even being courteous, they dnt care about anyone but themselves. Has there been any progress, improvement? I've been suffering from this for some time now and it's affecting my mental health (I'm even going to start taking antidepressants again for depression and panic), it's exactly the same as your case in the apartment above, except that in addition to the dogs, there's an out-of-control child who often gets awake until 2am ~3am, imagine the "common sense" and "politeness" of the mother who leaves a small child bumping into things and running around the house in the middle of the night. I'm still thinking about what can best be done because all these cases are difficult to deal with, there is no right recipe.

Had 2 garden apartments in NJ before moving to Cali for now hubs into a mobile home within a park. Had a downstairs neighbor that got a doberman about 1 yr after moving in. Then they had really bad fights loud sex until 3am. Eventually i complained then they literally disappeared abandoned apartment with all stuff inside, curtains open. 6 weeks i didnt see anyone reported to office. MH has been waaayyy worse omg i could write a book. Starting w park was sued for failure to maintain by residents and we won in landmark case. Outdoor karakoe parties, constant use of outdoor lanai smoking cigarettes coughing talking on cell starting 6am ..all night. Outdoor karakoe turned into outdoor music party of 50 people in yard maybe 600ft.. decibles of 80/90. Weekend parties in park hall residents can rent for free which allows amplified and music instruments. Mariachi bands w singers, DJs, parties of upward 100 taking guest parking, parking in street/fire zones. Last party there they took the park gate off its hinges, rammed it so hard bent the metal. Other parties glass bottles in street debris everywhere..some even tried to put their litter in our garbage bins. Dude tried to break in to our home through back window about 6 yrs ago. During day. Saw me leave for work then walked around to back window. Hubs was home saw him opened window said wtf you doin... and guy said "sorry sir" ...left. Under the guise of "community" homes close together in a row connected..all suck! Know what your gettin into. Save your money and sanity.

Hunny don’t get me started on the one that lives above me. He’s a dysfunctional male. Has a son won’t discipline the child lets it run around. It's across the country like professional nuisance people. Never buy a coop, and don't buy condo with anyone above/below. Even small lot, single family homes weird stuff is going on. I lived under a white family with two kids that ran, then an Indian family/doctor mother, with two kids, one ran and a dog, with converted three bedroom, over my studio. I gave up, Idk who they work for or belong to, but it's professionally obnoxious people.

Old buildings can definitely exacerbate things, but tenants shouldn’t break the rules by bringing a dog into a building that explicitly prohibits them in the lease.
