Wonderful vid gents. Two buddies and I floated 40 miles on that legendary river 16 years ago in mid September and we got 4 fish in the upper teens with 2 over 20lbs. Hooked 12 in 8 days. Not out of this world fishing but all the better that every single one came on a skated fly and we were self-guided , none of us had ever fished the river before! Magical place.

Nothing better than skating dries for them hey. Great river - I can't wait to get back up there sometime! Thanks for watching and leaving such a nice comment! Tight Lines!

I logged up there for years before returning home to lake superior country(the north shore Canadian side) loved the Babine the kispiox and Skenna used to stop and watch the bears fish for salmon on the Nass before heading up to camp after out long weekend off.

Bucket list river, for sure. Every steeled angler has "their" fish. Mine is in my photo. 30lb fish swung up on the Kispiox. Even though, I still would love to tackle a steelhead on the Babine.

Who is this Tom Derry of whom you speak? With all of his knowledge, can he conjure steelhead at will for the Babine novice? Surely his powers are great!
@FinLineFly2 жыл бұрын
The guy lives up there on the Babine. His knowledge of where Steelhead typically lie in those stretches goes back decades. He definitely put us on fish based on his experience with the conditions at hand. Could he conjure up a fish for a novice? The guy with the rod has to be able to make the cast, mend the speed, assess the depth, feel the take, set the hook, play it and land. That's the difference and a novice and an experienced angler. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

great video and narration, but things are not well for these beautiful fish in the Skeena system.. their struggle is real and the management of the system is poor. Keep this in the forefront of your story and make others aware..

I agree with you 100%. I'm going to work soon on another Steelhead video and I was thinking about the content. You've set my mind straight now on how to work it! Thx. Tight lines....... let's hope this magnificent species pulls through and number are up next year.
@Anglerworks3 жыл бұрын
Its not the management of the rivers as much as the health of the North Pacific ocean. Steelhead are in decline from California to Alaska. We need to stop pumping so many hatchery and enhanced fish into the N Pacific. The food chain is suffering.
