I don't usually comment on KZbin videos, but my complements to Kyle for the substantial and thorough review. I really appreciate the in-depth and informed comments that go beyond the superficial shiny details (creaky door handles, engine note, tactile feel, proper MPG tests, etc.) After all, any new car is nice and shiny, but there are decidedly major but subtle details that set them apart. Kyle definitely works hard on doing an *actual* review instead of just mouthing off the talking points that the manufacturer spoon feeds the press for a low-cost, low-effort infomercial. Keep it up Kyle!

I have this car in A250e AMG Edition trim. I really like it, it’s built well and the MBUX system and app is very good. Since new I’m getting 157mpg (uk) and 5m/KWh in electric.

At the quoted mpg of 35mpg and with a fuel tank capacity of 13.5 gallons, the theoretical range would be 462 miles

Looking at the top front portion it seems the hood has less curve than the front portion. Not what one would exspect from a merc.

To be fair, the A35 is not a real AMG. The real baby AMG is the A45 which is available in the US. Unlike other AMH models, the A35 engine is NOT hand built. It is NOT the same engine as in the 45. Please check your facts. The A45 uses the M139 hand built engine. The A35 uses the M260 engine.

And the M139 is based on which engine? What determines a real AMG? Mercedes is happy calling it an AMG, and it surely drives like one.

@@Mysil90 The M139 engine IS based on the current Mercedes-Benz M260 engine, sharing the same bore and stroke dimension as well as the block. Unlike the normal M260, the AMG engineers rotated the engine block 180 degrees so that the intake system is in the front of the engine while the turbochargers and exhaust headers are situated between the engine and firewall. The rotation optimizes the air flow for higher performance and with shorter distance and fewer diversions. The exhaust valves in M139 engine are bigger than ones in M133 engines for higher flow. The compression ratio is raised to 9.0:1 for M139 from 8.6:1 for M133. The two-stage fuel injection system, a first in AMG four-cylinder engine, has the piezo injectors delivering the fuel directly into the combustion chambers as first stage and solenoid valves in the manifolds as second stage for increased specific output. Also, the M139 IS hand-built, unlike the M260 in and A35. Kyle was incorrect when he said it was the same engine.

Mercedes AMG A35 4MATIC will be available in Canada as a hatch, not just in "Europe". I haven't checked other markets.

As a German I can tell you: doesn't fucking matter. You certainly aren't in the position to teach others, what's a "real AMG" and what is not. This is just the smallest and cheapest AMG model, because an AMG model just has to be it. That's all. And this car is very good.
