450 class is so hectic. People online act like making the main event is the be-all, end-all, but you have to be such a badass on a dirtbike to even make the top 40 for the night show these days. The 40th place qualifier for 450 supercross could roll up to any public track on a ride day and would smoke absolutely everybody.

We got people like Austin Politelli, Devin Harriman, Max Miller, Carson Brown up here in the northwest. They will go out and put like 8 seconds a lap on the competition at local races, but then show up to a supercross or nationals race and the top 10 are putting seconds a lap on top of them. Making them look like the mediocre A class local rider. Lol.

I have a similar gripe with the TV coverage First I would like the positions to roll across the top like they used to. I hate having it cover part of the screen plus *NBCSN* doesn't include the the position number next to the name. So thankfully I watch recorded & can pause to count down & see what position *So N So* in is in Next they could cover the entire heat race until the top nine hit the finish line The podium winners are going to have plenty of time on the podium so the camera should stay focused on the racing especially the last turn and finish line for at least the top 10 I think they could easily find the extra minute or two to do this by cutting out non-sponsor talking by one of the writers or someone in the booth in exchange for race coverage

I hated how people used to make a big deal about fast riders not making mains or having to go through the lcq and making them seem like they are slow or they're losing their edge when they're not they are still trying just as hard but the guys that are at the top with the big sponsors above their heads racing is their job and they get paid so it's more pressure for them to always be on top and keeping pushing themselves striving to be the fastest to win or be on the podium. Aj hasn't got slower he's just got way better technique as he's ageing and like someone else mentioned I think he's focusing on having really good technique at all times rather than trying to go as fast as he can go at all times witch causes mistakes and season ending injuries. Technique is way more important to me and I think to aj also than trying to just go fast because anyone can be fast but not a lot of people in the world have good technique or want to work on it or even think about working on it. Having good technique is way more skilful than just being fast on a bike everyone seems to want to be fast because they think thats the only thing that'll make them good or win races. For anyone that questions aj they only need to go back and look at his amateur career and watch how fast that guy can ride a bike, just full of attitude hanging clean off the bike laying it flat like nobody else totally pinned everywhere and sending literally every jump on a track every lap the guys a savage on a bike.

When guys like Broc Tickle dont make the main...ot Dean Wilson has to go to the LCQ in several events to get in....then you know the field is stacked. Almost everyone in the 450 main is a past 250 champion or has won motos, or races. The best race for entertainment value and passing and take out moves is definitely the LCQs...also like mentioned going to the LCQ isnt shameful because the format changed from the original platform. In the glory days you had a heat race , semi and then lcq. So a rider who didnt get top 4 instead of the 9 now went to a semi where they took the top 5....if you still didnt make it you had one more chance where the top 2 made it...I think only 20 riders went to the main instead of 22 now. So basically you had two solid chances to make the main before panicking and going to lcq. 2 holeshots in case you messed the first up. If you went down in the heat you had another shot. Most top factory guys with 2 chances to crack top 5 seldom went to the lcq. Now if you make ONE mistake in the heat.....bam....right to the last friggin chance.

Doing MX schools and everything, AJ gives back instead of putting his head down and gunning for a top spot. He knows exactly what’s up, he knows exactly what he would need to do to put himself into at least the top 10 every night. He chooses not to though. It’s a 24/7 job to work hard enough for a top ten spot and that’s just not possible for everyone. Especially when you spend as much time as AJ does teaching amateur riders. There is no doubt that AJ is a PRO but not a national pro rider, he makes a lot of excuses. He is embarrassing him self making excuses he is not that good. There are 100s of guys at his level and theirs nothing wrong with that.

Our sport lacks fan education and personality.. Ricky Carmichael commentary only appeals to us riders and does nothing to captivate the average fan. The commentating and marketing structure dictates the level of fan appreciation for the riders and the sport in general. If not for commentators like Cameron Steel, sports like Free Style Moto X would have never gained the level of popularity it did. If not for commentators like Joe Rogan the UFC would not be where it is today. Get a guy like AJ into the commentating booth and I guarantee our sport will explode!!

And this is why I’ll no longer support AJ.. no self belief, with all that talent. No longer will I talk to friends (legends of SX) about trying to help this guy. Not only does he not believe in himself, but his whole team doesn’t believe in him. Too bad! Kinda sad, knowing what he could do if he actually thought/approached racing different.

I like AJ, but he has an excuse for everything. He makes it a point to state how he doesn't train much, but truth is even if he did, he wouldn't make the main.
