I think people forget Archie luxury is a character, in the real world buy what you can afford and enjoy it, Here's a few rules you should stick by don't buy a homage (most of us have been there and done that and it doesn't fill the void you will still want the real thing and at the end of the day it's pretending to be something it's not), there's no such thing as luxury tiers, it's a marketing scam, there is no such thing as entry level luxury, Stay with watch making brands, don't buy fashion brands, they dont make watches they are Chinese crap Don't buy what you can't afford/ but don't settle for what you don't want, if you want a Rolex or an omega, save up Lastly, very few people actually care about what watch your wearing.

On a related and ironic point, I'm quite sure most watch lovers started out due to the appeal of how one watch can define the character of a man; Bond etc. or just your old grandfather or father. One watch. Always one watch men. The secret and ironic envy of watch collectors.

ABSOFUCKINLOUTLY RIGHT!!!!!!!!! Loved to wear a watch since i can remember, i have a tendancy of getting swepped away into an addiction BUT recognize it in an early stage and get myself out of it. I am in my early 30's now and recently got a new and steady job with well income. MY FUCKING GOD, for the past few months i have found myslef wasting every goddamn hour of my time in the watch world-KZbin, forums, ebay etc. you know what i mean! and what i learned is that most watch addicts JUST LIKE ANY OTHER ADDICTS! are either in deppression, are tryng to fill their empty holes in life with thousands, TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars in watches. Since i am not a CEO of a multi million dollar company like my boss that wears rolex's and breitlings (wich i like) and i am just an average guy hanging out with average people doing average things, i have decided to stick with my few high end seikos and Citizens, not the cheap ones and leave the luxury pieces to wealthy people or to morons that buy them but haven't paid off their mortgage yet, drive a used toyota, but think they look cool and respectable in a Rolex. NOBODY GIVES A FLYING FUCK THAT YOUR OMEGA WAS ON THE MOON!! PLUS! the world is pushing us to own more smart things, Japanese watch companies have already started implementing them in their watches, Maybe in 25 years from now you will hand over your "once expensive" Patek to your son and he will tell you "dad, what the hell is this". My advice for newbies: find a watch that you like the looks of for under $1000, make it your multi purpose watch, get a casio digital beater, and get the hell out before the addiction gets you!

Pre-owned Rolex datejust for about 3,500 and pre-owned Tudor or Omega diver for about 2,500. Both very decent and luxurious timepieces to have and where, you are set for all kinds of situations, you can sell both for a pretty much what you paid for them pretty quickly. 6 grand is still a lot of money when you think about it and depending on who you are but you set up something like this should be a good place to stop for most of us.
