Thank you for your content, Jackie! I've been dabbling in IF for years, including the clean fast. Nothing has clicked. I'd go back to putting cream in my coffee and just felt defeated. It felt hopeless! I started watching your content, and something just clicked. Instead of the 6 to 8 hour eating windows, I've latched onto the OMAD lifestyle thanks to your inspiration! I'm such a sweet tooth, and seeing you eat cookies makes me feel so free! I'm 2 weeks in and 9 pounds down and feel great. 70 more to go. Thank you SO much for your content.

LOL!!! The "I'm soooorrrrrryyyyy" part! 😂 I love how down to earth you are. Most KZbinrs, I can't relate to them at all, but I feel like you're my good friend that I can just grab a coffee with, and have an easy conversation about whatever. And also, whenever I start to make fasting and diet too complicated (which typically happens after watching other KZbinrs) I come back to your channel. You remind me that it's not hard and I don't have to cut out foods or buy special products in order to fast, or be extreme in some form or another. You help me stay grounded with fasting. And I tell myself, if Jackie can do it without cutting out her favorite foods, so can I. So thanks, Jackie! 🙂

Hey, I just want to let you know that everything you and Gin have taught me about IF is true. Started in March 186lbs wearing size 16W. As of today I now weigh 141 and just bought size 10 pants. I just kept telling myself to trust the process and focus on fasting (18,19+20hrs) religiously. I just eat what ever I want in my window. I too am cold all the time so I am loving the hot summer weather. I am 68yrs old and feeling great. This is definitely a life style that I can live with and maintain. Definitely will continue for all the health benefits from fasting. You really do make a positive difference in my life. Thank you. Keep doing what you do it is greatly appreciated.

First, thank you for your content: your candid videos were the "nudge" that I needed to came back to IF. Clean fasting made the 2nd time so much easier. To tame dragon breath: I use a water pick (there are smaller ones that look like electric toothbrushes that don't take up too much real estate on your vanity). Also, I put a pinch of sea salt on my toothbrush and brush my teeth, my gums, my tongue, and the roof of my mouth (basically everything). I also gargle with salt water. Your teeth with feel polished, and it seems to diffuse the "Keto breath." I repurposed a small jar for my sea salt, and the jar sits next to my toothbrush and cup.

I’ve solved pretty much solved the bad breath problem with the following 2 products- Thera Breath Fresh Breath Oral Rinse -Hello Activated Charcoal Mouthwash, Natural Fresh Mint and Coconut Oil, Fluoride Free, Alcohol Free, Vegan. I stay away from Listerine or other alcohol mouthwash, because they don’t work as they supposedly destroy the good bacteria as well as the bad causing an imbalance and bad breath. After about a week of using the above 2 mouthwashes (one or the other) 3-4 times a day, my family has magically stopped complaining about my breath!

I freeze leftovers in daily amounts, too! Actually I stared IF to solve a histamine intolerance/gut problem so I _have_ to freeze leftovers anyway so as not to allow histamides to be broken down in the fridge to histamines causing once "safe" food to be inedible (for me, not for anyone else). And how long does it take a shredded chicken thigh to thaw in clarified butter on the stove? Minutes! I'm loving this system!

The most frustrating are ppl who swear that KETO has to be the choice when doing IF. I refuse to exclude anything out of my diet anymore b/c I just break down and beat myself up when inevitably I eat carbs b/c I enjoy them. You show me there's a way to have my cake and eat it too-when it's during my eating window :)

Eating without fasting doesn't feel good, therefore I'm not enjoying my life or my health. I feel better now so feel happy for me, Im not telling you to fast! Negative ppl are so toxic. I went and looked up why we are cold when fasting and this is what I found :)" Though it may be uncomfortable, it's normal to feel chilly while fasting. This indicates that your body is diverting the energy meant for heat generation to fat burning. During fasting, your blood sugars drop. This is the goal-you want to lower insulin and blood sugar levels to enter fat-burning mode."

Speaking as a chronically cold person who is now more so after IF (nearing goal weight)- my tips that don’t impact others in the house who aren’t cold: -electric cozy throw -soaking tub -putting a blanket in the dryer for 5 minutes before using -hats -sprint around for 5 minutes - not enough to sweat because then you get colder

Take a friend who is fashionable shopping with you. Have her pick out what she thinks looks good on you and try them on. I’ve found that to be helpful. On the leftovers, that is a challenge. My husband also eats OMAD (most of the time) and cooking small is a challenge. These days having leftovers is especially frustrating because of the high cost of food. I’ve been fasting for two months, not a long time, but I haven’t said one word to my husband about it. I know if I do he will become the fasting police. He’ll have something negative to say and I’m not dealing with it.

I think taking a friend shopping with you is a great idea!! It would be a great start to finding out what fits! You could also look on Pinterest for outfits you like and try on something similar to see if it works for you. We throw away food sometimes too. 🙁. We try to freeze anything we think one of us might eat again.

I, too, kept it from my husband at first (2 weeks OMAD) for the same reason, but when I let the cat out of the bag it went better than I expected, really positively, actually. Hoping the same for you. I freeze leftovers and heat on the stove; we don't use a microwave and it still works great to freeze and thaw daily...at least for us.

Oh, I struggle with leftovers, too! The last thing I want to do is eat the same day two days in a row. It’s just me and my hubby, and he sometimes eats it, sometimes doesn’t. One of the things I’ve started doing is freezing the leftovers. That way if he (or I) need a quick meal and don’t have the time to cook, we can just defrost it and heat it up.

Be sure to use wool as one of your layers to stay warm - unless you are allergic to it. A fine quality wool sweater etc will not be scratchy...and would not likely be against your skin anyway. Synthetic fabrics are hot in the summer and cold in the winter. A wool throw blanket is amazing when watching tv or on just me (!) when sleeping in the bed. Great video, btw!

Another idea for bad breath. On page 62 in Gin Stephens book FAST.FEAST.REPEAT, “What is a clean fast?” ...under the MAYBE column is - Peppermint Essential Oils. Put the oil on the top of your hand first, and then use your finger to put it on your tongue. It’s a very minuscule amount and it is very refreshing. Make sure it is food grade. I rinse my mouth with baking soda in water, oil pulling / swishing coconut oil in your mouth for a few minutes. I Also look forward to date night when time to eat. I eat pretty much what I want but the portions are smaller. I have made changes in switching to non inflammatory oils to cook with. Avacado and olive are the 2 I use.. I agree that these things don't out weigh the benefits of fasting..

Sorry if this has already been suggested regarding the leftovers, but invest in a small chest freezer and freeze freeze freeze! There is only myself, my husband and my 6 year old.I too am now doing IF and I STILL don't now who to cook for any less than 15 people lol. I make massive pots of soup, chili, spaghetti sauce, and mac n cheese. We eat it for 1 or 2 days, the freeze the leftovers! Then one day in 4 months, 6 months etc and we don't want to cook, we thaw a container and boom. Dinner done. Sometimes we shake it up and do something different with it like re-bake it or add things do it. Buy a freezer girl!

My teen son and I both fast and we both use the drops. He's a greeter at church so he definitely wants the fresh breath to welcome the folks in. I noticed that staying hydrated helps a lot too. I can smell dehydration in a person like a bloodhound haha. The drops even are nice added to water as you sip on it if needed also. Like during church service or maybe a meeting at work.

@Lance54689 your comment reminded me of ways our bodies detox. For instance, zits, sweating, & other ways our body detoxifys. Years ago, I read our skin is our 3rd kidney. Detox is a good thing. Another great benefit when Fasting.

So what I’ve found works for leftovers is I’ll warm them up and bring them in a throwaway plate and include plastic silverware napkins and a cold water and bring it to the homeless people who are always at the freeway exit by our house. They love it!

I fast for 21 hours with only water because I am not a coffee, etc drinker. I have found adding a pinch of sea salt every time I fill my water cup has helped with the breath issue.

Thanks for the Listerine Strips idea. Great tip. The other negatives are very easy to deal with. As far as being cold, would eating more fats help? I’m 7 days in to eating OMAD, so it will be interesting to see how it all goes for me. I need to lose approx 80 lbs.

Look up treatment for bad breath online, isn't everything online? Therabreath is recommended for the best mouth wash, lozenges, etc. it's the best, I have learned.

You cracked me up at 12 minutes with the breath at the camera. So, what is causing the bad breath? I would assume this odor is coming up from the stomach? That’s the only thing I can think of. This is a result of all of the autophagy and healing that’s going on? Hmmm…I realize you are saying that it is a companion to the Intermittent fasting but do we know what is causing it? I’m just curious. ThxU. Just found your channel, subscribed. You seem awesome. I’m a carnivore, I do OMAD once in a while but generally eat twice a day, roughly 6 hours apart so basically I fast for 18 hours daily. I do drink coffee so some would say I’m not a true carnivore. I don’t eat dairy. Anyhow, enough about me. Looking forward to watching some of your other videos. See you in the future. 👍🏼💯

If you are cold all the time, make sure you check your iron- and NOT just your hemoglobin and iron stores. If your ferritin isn’t at least 60, consider taking a supplement. When I can’t get warm or I have restless leg syndrome, I know my ferritin is low.

I've only been fasting since May so I'm curious to see how I'll do with cold in the winter. We live in the Appalachian mountains so our winters can get pretty cold, and I hate paying a ton to heat the house. Even before fasting I got cold a lot, and drank lots of warm drinks, including just drinking my water hot sometimes!

Look into Parsley supplements. You can chew parsley, at the end of meal to help with any kind of bad breath from that meal…or you can take a parsley supplement or both. It has chlorophyll in it, which helps with digestion and detox. Not specifically sure about keto breath…but if it helps with detox it could possibly be good for that! 👍🏻

Read up on why some people get cold during IF: - Sign you are in ketosis - burning fat stores for energy - Blood flow changes to going to fat as primary energy source - Insulin is level, low blood sugar - Digestive system which generates heat is taking a break. Solutions: Layer up, drink warm beverages, take hot bath or shower, jacuzzi/sauna!, turn on the heat, exercise, snuggle up to loved ones or your pet.

Great information always informative….I too get cold easily. Are you familiar with Icebreaker or Smartwool? I started using them for summer backpacking trips yo the High Sierras. Now I take them on vacations in cooler climates or on long plane rides….they are a bit pricey but mine have held up very well…thrifted cashmere is also your friend
