Oh how I love those Ford tractors! A mid 60s 3000 diesel is what I learned on. Few things at that time could make a 12yr old boy happier. I loved bushogging and if given the opportunity today I would probably love it just as much as I did almost 50yrs ago. thanks for sharing,it brings back alot of happy memories!

Great shots with all the angles. I’ve had great success when cutting down sweet gums immediately after the cut I paint the freshly cut stump with concentrated glyphosate. Tractor Supply brand. If you wait too long the stump will heal over and it won’t work. This works great on any freshly cut hardwood that would otherwise send up new growth. I keep an old paint brush, gloves and glyphosate in my utility box on the back of my tractor. Hang in there.

Hearing that motor hum Took me back forty plus years to the hayfields and pastures on my papaw's place. Bout near cried. That taught me more about being a man than any growing up I did in my own. That old 2000 and I were very familiar with each other and the title is right. These will still be rolling when today's throw away tractors are growing rust. Last thing those pigs need a wallowing hole. it won't help with the flies but it'll help THEM with them. GB Keep up the good work!
@falllineridge2 жыл бұрын
I'm confident that this tractor will outlast my shiny new Kubota. It's just unkillable. The pigs have a waller, It was just in need of water during this video. It got about 20 gallons this morning before the heat of the day.
@dwaynerobinson76292 жыл бұрын
@@falllineridge Oh, ok. Another suggestion. Make their pen big enough to get a good distance between their trough and shed. Flies like that slop and goop. Lol It's easy for me to say that Papaw's place was 375 acres and the hog lot was about 4. We ran a lotta hogs through that thing. Those old tractors were made to work. Unless you kill it by not taking care of it, they'll run forever. Absolutely love your channel and especially the videos with little man!!

The older diesel tractors are much ahead of the newer ones. You don't have fuel and time wasting regeneration, you're not tied to dealer specific maintenance. A good independent tractor mechanic can care for it. No complicated electronics. Nice cutter you're using. I'd guess that it's a standard gearbox, not J BAR specific. Good video. HAPPY HOGS!

Love your content! I'm cutting with an 8N and old falling apart bush hog. I look at your "old tractor" with envy! :) one suggestion might be to move the pig pen thru that area you are cutting. That'll cut down on the flies and let the pigs more "fully express their piggness". See Joel Salatin's videos on piggerator pork.
@stephaniewilson39552 жыл бұрын
Go around the outside edge with the brush cutter. Set a hot wire and let your pigs loose. They will have a great time, clear the area and give you great tasting pork.
