I so love that old Ford 3000 diesel! It is exactly like the one my uncle had when we moved to his farm in 1973. I was 12yrs old and it was the first tractor I learned to operate. This brings back many very happy memories of my childhood. Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed!

Message from Chris (Petra's Husband in New Zealand) Yes I am using my wife's account but at least it;s free LOL. I was raised in England and lived around farms all my life, I spent many a long hours watching the farmers working the land with their tractors and implements. One farmer used horses. I learnt to drive an old 35 HP Massey Ferguson and then a Ford 3000 like yours. The old tractors have character and I really enjoyed your video, I felt like i was in my home town watching the farmers again. I have a collection of model tractors in my home on our 15 acre farm block and hope one day to buy another tractor. Thank you for sharing it with everyone and I will be watching the rest as well. All the best in the future and keep farming.

Ferterlizer and lime really like to eat up plastic rotary spreaders. I hose my push rotary spreader off, good, after each use but the weight it has to tote gets to it and it does not last but a few years. I have thought about buying one of those Earthgrow spreaders but they can break my budget. You ought to get a small seed drill. Planting an acre by hand can get tiring. Just get a piece of chain link fence to cover your seed. Just drag it behind the tractor and it will smooth down your field, break up clumps and cover the seed.

I can't find your video on the driveway. I'll drop an idea here that you can think over. We have a similar issue with drainage really tearing the driveway up. Several years ago my in laws built a slight berm that pushed runoff into a field across from our house. it worked wonders for us but he's since let it go again and we're right back in the same boat. lol Maybe you could try that at the top of your hill and push the water into the woods where gravity and the soil will take care of it.

I notice you use proprietory brands from well known seed merchants when you are planting your crop patch. I note that Chris from Letsdig 18, reckons that saw dust from the mill acts as an organic fertiliser in top soil, I just wondered if you had considered this as an alternative use for the large amounts you create with from your mill? Especially considering it will all be totally organic into the bargain. Regards Robin....

When planting sowed seeds, I like to harrow the ground sort of deep, then drag limbs or a tree top over the plot to cover it up. It smooths the ground and lightly covers the seeds. The harrow can bury the non-grain seeds if you are not careful.

First, the picture of the Blue Beauty you used in the thumbnail is a great shot. With the rye, I thought you were going into moonshinin' , but then you ruined that idea with the oats and clover. The deer will fatten up nicely though.
