Put a solid front axle maybe from a jeep or blazer. Or just take the Mercedes body and put it on a jeep frame. After that any future upgrades will be so much easier.

Front end needs a skid plate, rear mounting the radiator would be a good idea. As far a 4x4 goes; SAS with Jeep axles would work, an IFS donor rig might be better suited to jumping, IF properly built.

I'd measure up the wheel base and compare to other rigs that may donate the chassis. Personally, I think the 2wd is fine for runaround errands and hauling crap. I'd think the whole "swap" would get bogged down with things in the current form there. I'd slid plate the rad and oil pan and service the trans and drive it as is.👍 It's awesome. Needs a lil more tasteful accessorizing is all. 😊

I would tie that front bumper to under the car somewhere to make it triangulated and then give it a skid plate from an old stop sign or something. You guys are doing stuff my friends and I used to do with our Suzuki Samurai's, its so fun!

I would have angled the bottom bar so if you do bottom out it will bounce off rather than taking the impact completely. you need a Baja-style skid plate for desert shenanigans

I ran my old '87 250D on used Engine Oil, Brake Fluid, Used & New Veg oil....chip fat etc... throw it in and it'll eat it up no worries. I used to add a bit of Kerosene to thin it out a bit as well.

I feel like with the bumper you should give it an angle toward the rad so you can give the bumper a skid plate! I feel like if you had it angled it also wouldn’t bend your bumper or possibly what’s attached to it.

Throw a half gallon of kerosene in with that oil! It will thin it out for better cold starts and clean up your burn! Also, you'll want to add a drop bar and skid plate that extends beyond the bottom of your radiator to prevent a rock from pushing that radiator up through your hood!... Just sayin'...

That looks so sick, I love it. Yellow lights for the win. All 11 of my spots/lights bars and my headlights are all yellow. I think a sump guard from the bottom of the number to the subframe would be a good idea. Also lengthening the exhaust stack would cut down on the exhaust fumes in the cabin.

Like someone else said you need to tie the the bumper into the chassis to reinforce it. I'd also take some body panels from an old hood or something and fill in the panels on the bumper to make it look better and add some rigidity. The old roof metal would have been perfect....

In Oz I had a imported 1994 diesel corolla and ran it on half used veg half diesel. Ran great. Every once and a while I would run straight oil. It was awesome. Used veg oil smells like burger king.

I ran an 81volkwagon from Portland to LA and back on black diesel like 15 years ago. You can only run very tolerant engines on it which basically means Volkswagen and Mercedes. But it does work 💯

Just a tip for finding metal to work with: Local junkyards and scrappers. A few minutes trading with a scrapper can get you a bunch of good salvage metals to use, and junkyards are MUCH cheaper than Home Despot.

You need to add a detachable smokestack that exits the exhaust higher up. Add a lid as well. And while you are at it add a snorkle for those river crossings :)

I used to run my old 1999 Audi A6 1.9TDI Avant on used chip fat/chinese takeaway oils from my local restaurants. They loved it and I had free diesel. The car smelled amazing. I ended up with a home still in my garage with quite elaborate filters and stuff. Was awesome 😂

When filtering your oil you might want to run it through some coffee filters. Takes a long time but it takes more junk out. With oil you get more low end torque but it won't rev up as high. Best is to run like 50/50 oil/diesel or kerosene. Something thinner

You guys should weld in a skid plate from the bumper to the crossmember and weld in end caps on the bumper so water can't get in or dirt it's looking really good some new headlights tail lights maybe even use some bully liner give it a rubber protective coating Make it look new and protect all the metal from getting rusted

So people here where i am from on balcans, used vegetable oil straight from store when it was cheaper than diesel, so brand new store bought oil straight into tank, you have ton of fast foods there so you can use old frying oil for it, it will smell better, and you can even mix it with used motor oil

I love it I’m a mechanic the UK and I have a Mitsubishi Shogun sport 2.5 2007 that I used to run unfiltered straight out of a car oil straight in the fuel tank only thing I had to do was change fuel filters she ran absolutely mint on it and because she was mapped she used to shoot flames out the bonnet with my bonnet exhaust best way to run diesel is with Black diesel

Personally, I would've tilted the bottom of the front bumper back some and welded a skid plate on it. If you watch some of FABRATS videos on utube , he puts skid pates on all his off-road vehicles. He builds 4x4s that are like mountain goats on wheels. Just a little info for you. Keep up the good work. 👍🏾

You should look into lifting it more. With Jetta tdi’s you swap the suspension out for Jeep xj components ( I believe that’s the vehicle some say f150) and you can also modify the strut towers and the brackets for the rear to give it more height.

The grease car kits hear the fry oil to a certain temp and when up temp you can switch over from diesel.

i always mix in at least 30% diesel in the Black diesel mix so it flows easier, and thats realy good if u run it in colder climats like we have in northern sweden :P

When you make black diesel, your still supposed to add gasoline to it to thin it down as well as diesel detergent and run it through a 3 micron filter sock.

BUM: Benz Upgrade Maximum

(1) Go out and get about 10 feet of 2” Diameter or larger Diameter Hemp Rope. (2) get two 5 gallon plastic Buckets (with handles) (3) submerge & soak all of the Hemp rope in the bucket with the Dirty used oil for a few days… (4) take the 5 gallon bucket with the used oil & the Hemp Rope soaked and also the Empty 5 Gallon bucket and then Hang the bucket with the dirty oil high the ( five to six feet) above empty bucket .. (5) take one end of the oil saturated hemp rope from the top bucket and lower just the tip of the rope 1/4 way into the empty bucket… Wait a day or two …. and after the dirty oil drains through the hemp rope into the empty bucket it will be clean! PS: be advised that the oil will filter & siphon faster in warmer hotter weather… !!! I got that trick out of an old book from the 40’s during WW2!! That book also had a cookbook on how to cook on your engine … Turkey & All the trimmings How many miles you had to drive before you had to turn the Turkey 🦃 over and when was a good time to put in the sweet potatoes!

Couple things for the diesel: - you should mix it with normal diesel, makes it thinner especialy in the cold. - if it gets really cold it might be get too thick to work. - you might want to filter it 2/3 times before use. - old deep fryer/cooking oil will work to. - this is realle bad for the emissions but not that this thing is good with normal diesel😂 - You can chemicly (at least with cooking oil) turn it into actual biodiesel

Great vid as always, but I have some constructive criticism: You need to switch your microphone audio to MONO instead of STEREO! In a lot of the clips (1:13 for example) the sound is mostly coming through the left channel, which is quite annoying for headphone users like myself.
