To enter controlled airspace, an aircraft must first gain a clearance from an air traffic controller. Uncontrolled airspace has no supervision by air traffic control so no clearance is required to operate in uncontrolled airspace. The ballon was over 60,000 feet, uncontrolled area.

As an 🇺🇲 I'm a little embarrassed how the 🌎 now views us over this hysteria. One thing is certain though 🇨🇳 is taking notes, and probably laughing too. 🇺🇲 Military brass already announced couple weeks back to be "fully engaged in war with China by 2025" and you know they'll use this as the very precursor needed to make that happen even sooner. I'm not sure Congress is fully aware of the ramifications of a war with 🇨🇳 and what it would do to our economy (not good). Militarily 🇨🇳 has the World's largest standing Army and Navy too, so the probability of the United States actually winning a hot war with them is slim at best. Peace with them is really the only viable option. ❤️✌️

Chris, have you listened to Michael Parenti's "Yellow speech"? I think you'd really enjoy it! He talks about how Congress doesn't care if a war is expensive because the working people of our country will foot the bill; whereas they and the rest of the ruling elites get to line their pockets with the wealth they accumulate from war (such as from weapons sales and manufacturing and looted resources).

What will it take for the US administration to understand that it now has a rival nation state that is not only much bigger than the US, but that it also has far more efficient socio-economic forms of governance and productivity than the US.
