My husband used to play this song all the time for me and tell me to listen to the words because it’s how he felt. We married when I was 17 and made it 30 years before he passed away in July of a heart attack. He was only 49. This is the first time I’ve been able to listen to some of it without breaking down. I still can’t make it through the whole song but I’m working on it. The pain I feel is indescribable...... Life is short. Don’t waste it arguing over crap that doesn’t even matter! Spend as much time as you can with those you love.... you never know when their time is up....or yours.

My name is Matthew S. Alfstad and I just lost my best friend, the love of my life and my whole world on the 27th of June 2022. We had been married for 30 years 3 months and 17 days when she lost her battle with cancer. We got married 9 days after she turned 18 and I miss her so bad. She wanted so much to make it to 1 more of your concerts but never got the chance. You all brought so much joy to her in life and I want to thank you for that. I suffer from PTSD and she was and always will be my hero that made my life worth living. I will always love you Lora Lee Alfstad, you are and always will be my beautiful wife.

Better Dig Two: I told you on the day we wed I was gonna love you 'til I's dead Made you wait 'til our wedding night That's the first and the last time I wear white So if the ties that bind ever do come loose Tie them in a knot like a hangman's noose 'Cause I'll go to heaven or I'll go to hell Before I'll see you with someone else Put me in the ground Put me six foot down And let the stone say: Here lies the girl whose only crutch Was loving one man just a little too much If you go before I do I'm gonna tell the gravedigger that he better dig two Well, It won't be whiskey, won't be meth It'll be your name on my last breath If divorce or death ever do us part The coroner will call it a broken heart So put me in the ground Put me six foot down And let the stone say: Here lies the girl whose only crutch Was loving one man just a little too much If you go before I do I'm gonna tell the gravedigger that he better dig two Dig two I took your name when I took those vows I meant 'em back then and I mean 'em right now, Oh, right now If the ties that bind ever do come loose If forever ever ends for you If that ring gets a little too tight You might as well read me my last rights And let the stone say: Here lies the girl whose only crutch Was loving one man just a little too much If you go before I do Gonna tell the gravedigger that he better dig, uh! Heavy stone right next to mine, We'll be together 'til the end of time Don't you go before I do, I'm gonna tell the gravedigger that he better dig two I told you on the day we wed I was gonna love you 'til I's dead
