The Barcelona Startup Ecosystem Report [Official Presentation by Mind the Bridge]

A new Report by Tech Barcelona and Mind the Bridge positions Barcelona as the premier technology hotspot in Southern Europe: with 409 mature scaleups collectively able to raise $8.7 billion in funding, it hosts 42% of Spain's total scaleup ecosystem and accounts for 46% of the total capital raised by Spanish scaleups.
The city has nurtured a vibrant early-stage startup ecosystem, boasting over 1,700 companies, 15% of which operate within deep tech-related fields, and 7 unicorns. Business & Productivity Software Healthtech and Fintech are the three primary verticals.
As the most international city in Spain, it is now in the ‘Early Scaleup' Stage in the global Innovation Ecosystem Life Cycle, ranking 30th globally. The city is forecasted to advance to the “Late Scaleup” phase within the next 2-3 years.
