Thank you! I've searched You Tube over for a simple, not-over-my-head way to formulate a pattern! Thank you!!!! I crochet tighter than most in my small group at church and sometimes my items are a lot smaller than the other girls' items. Thanks to this crazy pandemic it's not as easy for us to get together and crochet as a group but I still want to crochet and that sometimes gets crazy without and instructor. Currently I'm trying to adjust a pattern for a baby blanket to suit my style and I had pretty much given up until tonight. I found your video and it is amazing! You are awesome!

Thank you Grandma! To be honest I like the tutorials the best but this really helped me understand those little lines and circles I see in some written patterns posted with some work! Love you grandma!

I was confused what you were trying to explain in the video. I realize it will take time and practice for me to learn how to read or understand written patterns as I have never used them, I've always watched tutorials or was physically taught by watching someone else. I really hope you keep doing these types of videos as it will eventually sink in or click in my brain. Thank you 😊

This is the best explanation and tutorial about how to determine a stitch multiple. I understood pattern repeats but, not how to obtain the numbers. It was always a bit mysterious for example where to start counting the repeat based from the diagram. Although I knew it would work if I just blindly followed the directions that’s just not my style of crochet. I want to know the how and whys! You are awesome for breaking it down for us. Thank You!!!

- Thank You for this video, it's very interesting to know the basics. I have been crocheting since I was five, mostly without patterns. Then I'm from Sweden, so now I learn the us-terminology and then also the uk-terminology. About seven months ago I started to crochet again after a "pause" of more than twentyfive years... 😂 (I'm to be sixty in october.) I love that there is so much tutorials of crocheting at KZbin, it makes me try new things all the time! 😊😊😊

Thank You Denise for letting me know I was right the first time in the video, the last multiple is a multiple of 3 plus 5. when I doubled checked the video, I forgot to count the last stitch. so the video is right. Your videos are awesome!! Yours are the only ones I've found that share this type of basic knowledge that will really help self-taught but pretty proficient crocheters fill in the missing gaps. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Also, would you be able to do a video or two on how to adjust pattern sizes up or down? I can follow a pattern just fine - but it has to be exactly the right size. Sometimes I see a sweater pattern I would like to make for someone but I don't know how to adjust the measurements up or down so I won't end up with gorilla arms or T-rex arms. Thanks again!

Hi Glenda, Thank you for sharing I’m sure this will be very useful for many of us...but can you explain in the first pattern the dc is counted as 4 including the chain stitch it’s made in and in the 2nd pattern the dc is only counted as 2? And how is it counted if you do a standing dc to start a pattern (or any standing stitch)? Thank you and take care🙏🏼💗🧶🦋😻

Thank you so very much for this tutorial. I've been researching on how to do figure out the stitch pattern. I am more a visual person and sometimes, it's difficult to read some of the patterns out there. Is there a book that may cover more of this topic? I have a couple of knit and crochet stitch reference books and working to create my own style. I applaud all the crocheters and knitters who create beautiful designs. This gives me more inspiration to achieving a small dream I have.

KLD - here's a link to a site that may provide additional info for you. there are a few, out there... you may want to check out how to read a pattern first, if you don't already know how - then, you'll have some of the symbols figured out for drawing your own. just a suggestion. ;) www.interweave.com/article/crochet/how-to-draw-a-crochet-stitch-diagram/

Hi Glenda, I have a pattern that I’m trying to figure out the multiples if any. It is called simply shawl. I got the pattern for free. The crochet crowd did a tutorial on this shawl. It called for 70 stitches but he has you do a chain of 68. I wanted to make this shawl a little wider for my sister and I am confused. I asked Mikey about the multiples for this pattern but he has not gotten back to me. I see other people has asked the same question with no reply. You are such an awesome teacher, I hope you can help. Thank you for your help.
