I used to watch this with parents, I would have been 8 when this one went out. Still funny. Has to be the TV puppet with the most personality by miles. Good voice actor, brilliant. Happy simple days.

Blimey! First time I've rewatched a full episode of Basil Brush since, well, since they were first broadcast. Perhaps not quite as funny as I remember them, but then I was about 8 years old at the time. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely! This was the era of childrens tv and great entertainment on Saturday night. With incredibly high viewing figures. I utterly loved Basil Brush...so, so funny in a gentle and very English way. You 100% bought into it, that he was more or less real. This is the show I remember, prime time BBC1. And Doctor Who next, that would be Tom Baker in his Key to Time season as its 1978. I wonder which episode it was that followed this? And after Doctor Who it would be The Generation Game...1978 again so it would be Larry Grayson. Then it would be the Two Ronnies or something similar, followed by either Kojak or Starsky and Hutch from the USA. Late night Parky and Match of the Day. I would have been seven or eight when this went out. Basil ran for many years like this. When he was not on it was Jim'l Fix It...yikes! Still at the time we thought it was all wonderful...
