Basil Brush was on Australian TV back in the late 1960s(in Black & White as we didn't get colour until March, 1975, it will be 50 years on 1st March, this year). I think the show was on commercial stations here, I remember my local station, NBN-Newcastle carrying the show. Basil was hilarious to us kids back then!

Decades later, Mr Derek in his maturity became a stern policeman in that t.v. series "Heartbeat". It used to amuse me to watch him going about his police duties as I remembered how he used to be a gentle mate of Basil Brush's in his youth.

Why is it they can't make anything these days... Anything that was good has gone... Love Basil Brush Show. I counted 6 TV ads back to back that used old Songs from the 50s and 70s - they can't even compose unique little jingles for Ads. anymore... Either no talent - or no imagination.
