I just started crocheting about a month ago, so I consider myself a beginner. You made this video so easy to follow, thank you. I guess being new to crocheting trying to follow the pattern was impossible, but walking through it with you made making this blanket easy. Granted it's not perfect and the hardest part was the diamonds, but I started to get better and faster as progressed through. I'm about halfway through, and I'm going to try the heart blanket next... already have the yarn. I'm so glad you took the time to make this video.

Welcome to the wonderful world of crochet DavisCircle! Perfection is always a good goal, but the joy should be in the journey which includes learning and making mistakes, right? I love your spirit to enjoy the process!

Great question Terese! This is a current crochet along which started on Oct. 23. I plan on releasing a video on the following Mondays throughout the month of November. Video #3 will be available Nov. 6th.

First of all thanks as always, I love learning from you and have created some beautiful pieces thanks to your great instruction, including: the Aaron Hearts, throw, Banded cable throw and the Aran circular rug! I just about went 🥜 trying to figure out the KNURL stitch- it probably didn’t help that it was well past 1am, but I refused to give up until I figured it out!! I read the written pattern & slowed the video down to no avail, but finally got it after going to your separate video on the stich & slowing it way down! I could see there was a strange twisting motion of your wrist, but your hand hid what was happening with the yarn on the hook, behind it! So each time you finished the first part of it, I couldn’t figure out how you came up with two loops on your hook, because I was pulling the “yarn over loop” completely up through the half loop below- creating a chain look! I finally realized you were not pulling it up through the lower stitch (which only left one loop on the hook), instead you were doing a twisting motion with your wrist keeping both the original loop on the hook and the “yarn over” strand of yarn on the hook! Finally I had 2 loops on my hook sitting above the 1/2 loop I’d originally entered in through- Hallelujah! Then yarning over again and pulling that through the two loops on the hook was a breeze & I finally got the Knurl stitch! It’s complicated trying to describe it, but thank goodness I finally got it! I can’t hardly wait for the invention of the three-dimensional camera, so I can step around in front of you to see what’s happening when I can’t get something from a certain camera angle! God bless you!

Christina Cooper so glad you got this one. Yes, it is a real stinker at any angle you look at it.😉 I just love the texture though, which is why the knurl will be making more appearances in my designs.😬😊❤️ Take Carr Christina! Sorry to make you so sleep deprived!

Is row 41 a seperate row or part of the 3 base rows? If 41 is a seperate row the pattern wont work. 41 wb wrong side..42 right side 43 wrong side 44 right side you wud chain 1 turn and be doing the diamond weave on the wrong side!

GOOD EVENING BONNIE I DECIDED TO DO THROW "ALL" OVER AGAIN TO MAKE IT BIGGER. YOU SAID CROCHET 153 STITCHES START CHANGE RIGHT? SO I DID 153 STITCHES TWICE TOTAL 306. I ALSO ADD 6 MORE STITCHES BECAUSE 12 X 26 = 312 DID I DO GOOD OR NOT
@BonnieBayCrochet
@BonnieBayCrochet 5 жыл бұрын
Going to be a large throw! Just be sure to add extra rows for the width. Should be able to make this work.

I’m using Caron One Pound (that’s all I had available) and it looks beautiful but very stiff. I’m hoping after washing it it will soften up.
@BonnieBayCrochet
@BonnieBayCrochet 6 жыл бұрын
If it feels stiff, perhaps your stitches are too tight? If you haven't gotten too far, you may want to try upsizing your hook one size. This will loosen your stitches. You can do a trial run on another skein of the same yarn and see what results you get. Just a suggestion!

yogibear1155 I'm doing the same thing, did it soften up once you got deeper into the pattern or did you have to move up a hook size?

As per the basket weave diamond throw. I am disappointed in the pattern. I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong so I thought I would try KZbin to see if it was on there which it was and I’m very grateful for that but dissapointed that the pattern hasn’t been fixed yet. I do a lot of Afghans and redheart is my number one brand of yarn. It sure makes me think twice about other patterns they have on their site

I have found that it is too difficult for me to space the stitches for the border on the two shorter ends. I had to take it out and redo three times and it was still not even. What worked for me was to measure the end and divide by five then put pieces of yarn at each interval. I then was able to crochet five stitches between each interval. I thought I would share in case someone else was having the same difficulty that I was.

I can't get past row 41. The first set of diamonds came out alright, but when I try to do the next set, something goes wrong and I can't figure out what. I've been banging my head against the wall for the past week trying to get these diamonds done. It's driving me crazy.

karmagrl76 Are you placing the trebles in the single crochet that is directly above the last treble (4 rows earlier)?

After the diamond 3 deep do you finish it on one single crochet row before you go on to the two rows of the low front ridge?
@BonnieBayCrochet
@BonnieBayCrochet 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I believe that is correct. You need to be on the front side before beginning to work the Low Front Ridge Row 1.

Is it normal that my diamond section is so much looser and wider than the rows before so I had to frog and use an I hook to make it even?
@BonnieBayCrochet
@BonnieBayCrochet 3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes you need to use the hooks that suit your crocheting style best. Downsizing a hook size will often times be very helpful. Just don't forget to go back to your gauge hook once you complete this section.

@@BonnieBayCrochet Thanks! I am using Caron Simply Soft yarn, and it's thin for a worsted yarn. I did notice that it slides around my hook and makes the triple crochet much looser... That may be why. But, so far so good with an I hook. Good point of remembering to get back to J hook!

I have same problem... Is where you skip the 2 sigle crochet after the 2 front posts just before 4 sc. For the firs row of diamonds I try to catch also the skipped sc when doing the second rows of front post but going further I will try to chach the sc skipt and the top of frontpost in seme sc of the first sc row

Theee diamonds were murder i have given up. Gonna ry that stitch in another pattern and go back and make this again. But for right now I tap out. I am so tired of taking it apart and apart and apart and taking all apart. You have no ideal been weeks and my project is not through. Gotta go !!!!!Move it on!!!!! I hat I failed but i failed miserable. Plus i was using size 4 medium, size 6 hook. Clearly i tried and I’m a beginner so i tried to use what i have. Butttttttt that didn’t fly. Little sad. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I know i can do this but why I don’t know. My cichlids might have my brain.

I'm so sorry that this has been your experience with this design Tracey. This is an intermediate, and yes, the center motif is challenging. This is one of those situations where an in-person teacher to give you immediate feedback would be really helpful. KZbin is a wonderful tool, but nothing will ever replace someone right there with you. If you can, put this project aside for now and give your crochet skills a little more time to develop, and perhaps it will make more sense in the future. Wishing you the very best...

Tracey Connelly Try watching the tutorial for the aran hearts afgan that she does. (if you are having trouble with the diamonds between the basket weave and middle section). She does these diamonds in that as well. Maybe she takes it slower in that video... I haven't made it to the diamonds section in this video yet.
