I loved when the Riddler disciple says “I am vengeance.” It was the moment when Batman realized how limited and wasteful that was. Batman needed to be more. When the bad guys usurped that position, Bruce realized he was free to move off that whole thing and be who the people needed. Vengeance will get you nowhere.
@dewolf123 Жыл бұрын
Well not for Batman but your thought is only your opinion, vengeance is a motivation like everything else and if it pushes someone to achieve what they want then it indeed got them somewhere. Take DreamWorks, the creator used to work for Disney and got screwed over and quit. His vengeance to spite them is what motivated him to create DreamWorks and you cannot say it got him nowhere because it did and it gave us Shrek and Po the panda. 😀

New York? Nolan’s Gotham had some grime and goth early on in ‘Begins, before eventually resembling Chicago and Pittsburgh, where they were filmed, and rightly so as he made the decision to pursue a more grounded universe for his vigilante crime epic. I know what you mean about it looking too much like Chicago but I didn’t like the way that it looked in ‘Begins’ (which was partially filmed in Chicago, mostly the bridge scenes leading to the Narrows and the chase scene when Racheal has been poisoned) because it was largely CGI. ‘The Dark Knight’ was almost entirely Chicago (Wayne Manor obviously isn’t there…) and ‘Rises’ was entirely in New York City and Pittsburgh (the stadium and some of the bridge sequences were shot in the area where Three Rivers used to be; ‘Land of the Dead’ highlighted just how much of a peninsula this part of Pittsburgh is.) So, it was not Chicago *enough* in some ways that I think lended itself to the generic aspects too.

I’m just glad Batman actually SAVED people. A lot of times in superhero movies, you don’t often get shots of them helping people from dangerous situations. When they do it’s usually a means to an end, like the villain got a hostage or is trying to slow the hero down. So glad this movie got to remind us that Batman is a HERO who goes out of his way to help people, even when the villain is already defeated. I love the MCU, but wouldn’t it have been cool to see shots of the Avengers saving people after the battle of New York in Avengers 1? That shawarma scene was funny, but I’d rather see Thor lift some people out of rubble or Iron Man do a search-and-rescue for survivors.

@@surgeongeneral7371 It's primarily a crime/mystery noir film. Matt Reeves' take on Batman's character is about him learning to have more hope, be more empathetic and compassionate, learn more self-control of his anger, and learn to also channel his trauma into more positive things. It's the start of the transition from vigilante to hero. Don't expect Batman in the film to be a super smart detective or fighter though. He isn't dumb by any means, but he is show as still clearly inexperienced and naive in many ways. I don't say that as a criticism. The film really captures a Gotham with personality, out of this world. And it's primarily a slow-burn crime/mystery noir than an action movie. Loved that. You also have to watch it on a good theater. So many theaters have shitty sound that you can barely understand the dialogue, and also shitty resolution, color contrast and clarity in the image. A film like The Batman specially demands a good theater, because otherwise the dark cinematography gets ruined. I speak from experience. I think atmosphere, cinematography and characterization are easily the film's biggest virtues.

Just watched it. What an awesome introduction to an even more grounded, young and restless Bruce Wayne. With only two years for young Batman the film is dark, it’s gritty and it’s all about the detective work. This is why we all love Batman, because he has so many layers up on layers to explore. Matt Reeves just revolutionized the Riddler. Paul Dano was amazing, pretty much every cast is amazing. What I really like is that the film shows us how young Batman is scared to even fly off high rise buildings stil, but also throws out his body with no hesitation to enemy bullets, sometimes not being able to control his anger during a fight. He gets shot in the chest, punched in the head and doesn’t give in. But above all it haunts him to see anyone get hurt because he’s still affected by the death of his parents. The cinematography is amazing, and boy the city of Gotham is just on another level. You’ll get scared to even pass by the city let alone live there. Shows the true nature of corruption and political deceives. Reeves created a unique Batman sets just as Nolan’s was different than Tim Burton, as well as for Zack Snyders Batman. Each directors build their own unique elements and universe for the Batman. Perhaps the greatest advantage is that character Batman is so versatile and any director can interpret it based on the excellent comic books written. DC needs to focus on these kind of movies because honestly they’re just perfect. I’m hoping we will get another amazing trilogy if it continues like this. My respects to all the previous and current directors for giving us different types of Batman. I really like all the Batman iterations since 2005. (Baleman, Batfleck. & Battison).

It's not you. The way I figure. We are all tired af from covid. These last 2 years have been awful. This to me is reflected in the film. Where crime and corruption literally seep into every single thing. So when a serial killer takes advantage of that exhaustion it's no wonder the Batman becomes the one to seek out. The film is depressing and dark. It shows us that not everyone can be saved. Not everything works out. People get hurt and killed. It's a heavy,heavy movie that does not pull punches or skip beats. In this movie EVERYONE has consequences to deal with as a result of the world they live and participate in.

That´s the point. This was based partially from Year One/The Long Halloween issues. In those, Batman is struggling because he believed cleaning up Gotham would be a lot easier by just fighting thugs. Is only after those comics that Bruce Wayne becomes a more important persona, since he realizes the job is gonna take years, and he can´t do it alone (remember this is preRobin Batman!)

I watched batman in the theatres yesterday, and holy shit I think this is easily one of my top 10 fav movies ever. The movie's flow and theme was so gritty and realistic, and Robert's acting was amazing! He was able to show raw emotions even when his face was 80% covered. The look in his eyes looked authentic and real, portraying a more melancholic and sad Bruce Wayne, contrary to the playboy and extravagant Bruce Waynes before him. I admit I underestimated robert as batman but now after watching I'm so glad to be proven wrong 🔥

@@DistinguishedSombrero no I actually think The Batman is a good movie but it's sad to see how low people's standards are and say that it's one of the best movies of all time and competes against TDK when clearly TDK is lightyears ahead. I guess also something to include in my review is that I saw so many people say it's a 10/10 and ranked 1st in their movie list that I put my standards so high that I came out of the theatre disappointed. BTW batman is batman. No need for politics and white supremacy bullsh!t. (kinda ironic how cat women doesnt like 'white people' but then kisses batman the most privileged white man in the universe lmao this movie is a good joke) The essential ingredients that make a movie a good movie in order from most important to least: 1. The story/plot/pacing 2. Dialogue 3. Characters 4. Cinematography 5. Score The Batman has 10/10 on the Cinematography and Score absolutely beautiful art. Story is 6/10, Dialogue 4 or 5/10 (the modern dialogue exchanges suck) and Characters 8/10 (batman himself is 10/10 but other characters balanced it out) Overall 7.5/10 wouldn't put it in my top 100 movies

I enjoyed this movie a lot. Batman has always been one of the most realistic superheros, but this took it to a level where you felt like this version of Batman could actually exist. The technology used was high tech but at the same time nothing was too far fetched. I especially like the part where he jumps off the building with his wing suit, and ends up crashing and hurting himself. It showed that he was still new to being Batman and not perfect at everything. You see Batman on the crime scenes analyzing everything much faster than other detectives, and noticing things that the others don't. He is able to solve the first riddle within minutes. This movie basically shows that Batman is a world class detective.

The reason why I loved this film was because the story building, world building, felt like a priority; it felt organic, whereas the previous films felt more heavily focused on the actors portraying these characters, this feels as though the characters came first? The actors second. Absolutely outstanding film, and I cannot wait for the sequel

Honestly Pattinson was never a bad actor. I was incredibly impressed at his portrayal of Edward Cullens in twilight especially considering what he had to work with. In the novel Edward was an incredibly incredibly one dimensional character that really didn’t need any acting skill to pull off whatsoever. But the first time he appeared on screen and flickered his eyes and how he managed those emotional changes, I mean for a starting off young actor and probably didn’t really think about needing to work too hard for a small gimmick cult movie, was pretty impressive. But of course it’s just awesome that he also went to improve himself and hone his skill more and more. Unlike many actors (e.g., Jennifer Lawrence) who just decided to stay in their comfort zone.
