Adrian Newey is reportedly set to leave Red Bull but his future is now the at the centre of speculation. Newey is one of the greatest engineers and car designers in Formula 1 history and his loyalty towards Red Bull has no doubt paid off. But with this news, 3 teams seem to be making a play for his signature. Ferrari, Aston Martin and Mercedes. Ferrari seem to be the most likely option as they have made a move for Adrian Newey on 3 different occasions in the past, but with 2026 fast approaching and Lewis Hamilton making his debut for the team next season, is now the time? @@georgeoliver8300 For me this is the most plausible. Many believed that Newey dislike politics hench that's why he left Williams in the 90's and mclaren in the early 2000's. That's also why he joined RB in the first place. And what's the team with the heaviest politics in F1? Ferrari. So I think he either will join smaller team where it'll be less stressful, bigger team with good vibe, or just straight up new team like when he first joined RB.

Newey and Eddie Jordan are good friends. A real curve ball move would be Newey starting up his own team and getting EJ on board as principal. Unfortunately F1 is simply too expensive these days for that to be a possibility.

To be fair Adrian is 65 years old (66 later this year) and from what I’ve heard about F1 contracts is if he leaves for a team it’ll be 2026 at the earliest as he’ll take 1 year gardening leave ( a year off in order to protect an IP from another team) in which case Newey will be close to 67 years old closer to that 70 year old mark. Retirement is a real possibility especially with a schedule that’s so demanding. Plus Newey been around to see the worst of Ferrari politics from afar in which while the politics under Fred seemed to be more under the table than years past, im sure that’ll play a factor especially with Redbull inner turmoil.

Most people overlooked this, Adrian Newey at his age, it is very exhausting and time spent traveling due this season tight schedule from race to race....even the fittest of drivers finds it exhausting.....my opinion is he will retire because he's already at the top....if money concern, Aston Martin offers are more tempting ☝️

Newey clearly isn't motivated by money at this point in his life. I think more than anything, he values his time with his family and a drama-free workplace, and I think that second aspect is why he decided to leave Red Bull (although apparently Horner is having emergency talks with him now, but I think the damage has already been done). I would not be at all surprised to see Newey walk away from F1 having already achieved one of the greatest careers the sport has ever seen. That said, I get the impression that Newey is a guy who thrives on challenges. I don't think he's absolutely ready to leave F1 yet, so I think he will probably go to another team (or, if a miracle occurs, be convinced to stay at Red Bull). I think Ferrari is most likely, because... it's Ferrari. Say what you will about that team in recent times, but they're still Ferrari. The name and motorsport history (particularly in F1) are enough to attract just about anyone. I think Vasseur has done a very good job so far and the team looks to be executing better all-around. Then there's the Hamilton signing. Ferrari name aside, if Newey wants to go to a different team, Ferrari has got to be the top option. The stars have aligned for him to have the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone: working with Hamilton, and working for Ferrari. I'm not even a Hamilton fan, but that has to be nearly impossible to pass up. I hope he goes to Ferrari, based solely on how insane that would be.

Exactly. Give us someone to root for or, if we like the leader, to worry about. Last year just was... it was boring. I stopped watching because It quickly stopped being about the leader, it started being more about who was in 2nd or 3rd or 6th or 10th or whatever. Hell, the race for 10th was often more compelling than the race for the lead. I very simply didn't care anymore.

3:03 yeah, here's the problem with that: Adrian Newey is the kind of person who hates dealing with politics at every team he's been a part of. Don't believe me? Look how he left McLaren for Red Bull when the new regime came in in 2015. Look again at how he might be leaving Red Bull this year over Christian Horner politics he just doesn't want to deal with. If you thought that was bad, the politics back at Maranello are downright insane. There is absolutely no way in hell that Adrian Newey would want to go work for them if he has to deal with politics 24/7. If he's going anywhere, it's going to be Aston Martin. Aston is already poaching top Red Bull designers, they're trying to use versions of the Red Bull concept, Aston as a brand already has history with Newey with the Valkyrie, Valhalla and what was going to be the mid-engine Vanquish, satisfying Newey's desire to design production cars, and most importantly, the environment there is a lot more laid back, positive and free of any kind of politics whatsoever. Aston has Newey's name written all over it. Ferrari is foolish if they think they can entice him into that Edit: oh, and if any of that weren't enough already, Aston Martin are the underdogs in this story, PLUS they still have a storied motorsport history outside of F1. I'll be damned if Adrian wouldn't want to help them build on their hopes and aspirations like he did for Red Bull
