Wow! What I have always thought about for almost 7 years. Surely God has granted me a nugget of wisdom to help through the years of sexual yearning. Psalm 78:72 "with an upright heart, he shepherded them and guided him with his skillful hand". Take the sexual energy and yearning that you feel, and put it into something productive and creative. I have learned for myself, that it's one of the best ways to endure the single life, in a sexually charged society. Like the Bible also says Ephesians 4:26, "be angry, and do not sin" I too, take my anger and put it into my creative outlets. I do my best work when i put all that pent up energy, sexual or anger, and put it into building my skills. I'm 35, never had a girlfriend, never been sexually active, and yet my life has been fulfilling. No, I'm not one of those who have "the gift", I just trust God and believe He will sustain me till the end.

After listening to this sermon, I realized I might be having more trouble with this than I thought… I’ve been finding means of satisfying my sexual urges that don’t involve physical intercourse, but… is that really the right way? It does impact the time I spend on creativity, and the time I spend on creativity does impact the time I spend on, ah, this stuff. And, well… I just. Don’t know what to do. I’ve been trying to know God - I thought I did, He’s actually made me stop these…fulfillments… twice before, and I’ve grown closer to Him each time - especially most recently, in last May. I have slid back into these non-physical, artistic fulfillments though, and I’ve tried to keep them from being sinful - the kind that exploit people just fill me with disgust, which does help. But… have I slipped in other areas? Or should I be doing these at all? Perhaps more worrying is that I’d just barely started to watch this video once, but stopped. I don’t recall when exactly, but… was I scared to hear Pastor John’s message, worried that I’d have to give my pleasures up? Or did something come up and keep me from listening, and I forgot? I’m not sure… Please pray for me. I admit I don’t want to give up this method of sexual fulfillment, especially as it doesn’t seem sinful… but if it IS sinful, then I want God to just. Yank it out and get rid of it! Or do something to help me kick this habit out for good… I don’t want to sin. (…I want to say I want God, but… I just can’t… that’s scary. Very scary. Please pray for me on this too.)

The problem with purity is that it's more damaging than good because only Jesus could achieve purity that was fitting to God. God's way is better but unachievable to humans. I'm Evangelical Lutheran. In other words I believe that sin is something stuck in us and that's why catholic priests "like kids." It's because they were meant to be celibate and they were forced to be.

I'm glad I'm early, let me be 100% honest with you, no sugarcoating. You've talked about this topic already many times, I've seen it. Other pastors talk about the same topic, I've seen it too. What I've also seen is nobody is actually truly gonna get free from this. Why? Culture, society, norms, and CHURCHES. You talk talk all day about being 'sexually pure', but for how long? Forever? Basically you want to stop? Just either be like a monk. No seriously. But what you preachers also dont do is you don't combat the sexual degeneracy with actually making sure people young and old find wives or husbands so they can stay away from fornication and all this lust, its in 1 Corinthians 7:1 and 2. You think people can just do this whole willpower thing forever? Especially when churches are weak and don't actually do anything practical but give bible verses they don't do anymore? And what's worse is most people don't get married now until they're about 30 or so, so you expect us to go from teenage years when this starts, to 30, TWO decades or longer until we find a wife (if she even exists), and to just struggle with this temptation? People, I get Jesus saves and he delivers people from this stuff, but we're talking about most Christians especially the men actually watch porn and masturbate, do you think giving us a bible verse and telling us to just NOT do these things is enough in a culture that pursues and advocates for sexual immoratlity? I think not. So until you all actually DO something about this issue, and actually help get married and hold them accountable for their actions, this won't be solved, and people will keep on talking and talking about this and nothing will change. OH and lets not forget the ones talking about this are already married themselves, so while we burn in lust they just enjoy themselves with their wives all day telling us to be 'sexually pure', ironic isn't it?

@Asrajzz64 I’m a fellow believer who struggles with sexual sin. I get where you’re coming from with your frustration and exasperation with your sin, and feeling like you can’t overcome it. I’ve not completely out of that mindset either. But I say this in love, as you are a brother in Christ: you need to take a bit more responsibility for your sin. If you blame anyone or anything but yourself for your sin, you won’t be as strong in fighting it. You don’t struggle with sexual temptation and sin because you don’t have a wife, or because the world is sexually degenerate. The world and Satan will always provide an opportunity for sexual sin, but we are the ones who take hold of that opportunity. Even if you were to get a wife, you will still struggle with sexual immorality, because you haven’t gotten to the root of the sin. What if she doesn’t want to sleep with you? What if you don’t find her as sexually attractive as women you’ve seen online before? You might turn to pornography or commit adultery. Other brothers and sisters that struggle with pornography and masturbation are responsible for their own repentance and purity. You and I are responsible for ours. It’s hard man, I know it is. I’ve been struggling with it for nearly 4 years now, and I still haven’t been able to go more than 6 months without giving back in. But I’m still fighting, and I’ve found new strength in people who have come alongside me in my life to point me back to God, His faithfulness, and His grace. If you are truly saved, He will help you. My advice to you would be to be in the Word daily, first. Memorize verses like Proverbs 4:23, 1st Corinthians 10:13, and 1st Thessalonians 4:3. Secondly, find a man at church that can meet with you and counsel you in fighting your sin. (Maybe your Pastor?) I would say as well, that you read “Passions of the Heart”. That book is a great, Biblical resource for diagnosing the root cause of sexual sin. By God’s grace, we can do this. God will not let His children remain in sin. Don’t wait for marriage to kill your sin; you want to be a godly man for your wife, not one who still struggles with lust and wrong thoughts about sex and its purpose in marriage. I’ll be praying for you.
@Asrajzz644 ай бұрын
@@AndYouSir- I get what you're saying too, but you gotta understand most men and not just me are having the same issue. How will you solve the issue of sexual immorality for not just Christian men but all the OTHER men who have the same issue? Simply, help them find women to marry. Literally set up people's christian families in the church who are friends, group up their kids and get them together to court and get to know each other. This just tell me to sit up here with my WILLPOWER which we've all tried and just force yourself to cut this out isn't gonna work. I've already taken accountability for my own sins, my own masturbation and porn issue too, but I know I'm not the only one. We have a degenerated society mostly where women can be so sexually liberated most men probably will never find a proper wife in these conditions. They don't even help single men to stop their porn addiciton, these guys can't tell anyone about it or they'll be shamed. So help them find wives in the church so they can fulfil those desires together, it's literally biblical. Nothing else you say is gonna stop. Dude I was 15-16 when I started masturbating and watching porn like crazy, lost faith in Jesus, I was on my knees praying daily for help until I realized that I'm a sexual being, we should be married to our wives while we're young and like this rather than tell us to be a 'pure' like monk until we're 30 or older for some women whose probably not wife material to come through. This isn't how it's supposed to work. So most men will always continue to struggle, always continue to masturbate and go deprived of intimacy with a woman in marriage because we've screwed everything up, and all the church does it throw scriptures condemning you for having sexual desires as a person which is normal, but should be fulfilled in a marriage which none of them help to set up. It's partly the church's fault too for not helping the generation! The old preachers and men just sit there with their wives and do all the nasty shit in bed with them while telling you to be a monk. And if it works, you got a whole thing of monk like men who might as well become buddhists, because these dudes wouldn't find wives even if they did stop what they're doing. This is bad!
@gab11724 ай бұрын
Thank you both for your advice. I agree. Step 1: be in the Word. Step 2: scripture based independent church (ie. Baptist) 3: find a mentor. I believe the reason churches are failing in this area is because NO ONE is preaching about the SOLUTION for seggual purity. They talk about the problem more than the solution. And not to mention there are (BY FAR) are more single young men in the church than single young women. Most of them go to college to get a degree and they also go to “Bible college” usually to find a spouse. And once they get married, they don’t return to their home church. Which is also causing churches to dye, because everyone leaves. Be it college or whatever.

@@AndYouSir-I also would like to remind of the power of the Holy Spirit. Nowhere was there any mention of the Spirit's sanctifying power. Yes, there are good contexts for sexual expression, but saying "I just can't handle it" is denying the power of the Spirit to MAKE it possible to combat any sin. What about same-sex attracted Christians who "just can't" control it? It's true, they are actually forced to suppress their urges entirely to conform to God's Will. The Spirit has the power to change us entirely, and too many Christians want to make the excuse of "it's too hard." It is, by our own strength. But if we've been washed and cleansed by the Spirit, there is no temptation that God can't get us through, if we truly surrender. I've been engaged for over a year now, and we still have 3 more years until our wedding. I was deeply struggling with sexual sin and backsliding for a large majority of the first few months, until I finally truly repented to the point of being absolutely sick and tired of my sin, disgusted with it and done with it. I surrendered it to God, have focused on Him with my whole being, and He's blessed me in it and strengthened me, because His Spirit has taken me to a point where I want His sanctification more than the sin. It's hollow, it's evil, it's not real intimacy or a real relationship, and it's a counterfeit of God's design. Once you surrender it all to God, like really entirely desire Him and hate the depravity of your sin, then seeing the sin for what it is makes it disgusting and undesirable. That's the change the Holy Spirit does

The shooter, although filled with hate, looked like a child. You can’t call someone Hitler for 8 years without this happening. Neither can you make a violence-inciting statement like this: “Christians communicate a falsehood to unbelievers…when we act as if policies and laws that protect life and freedom are more precious than being a certain kind of person.” But was this statement as bad as it sounds? You seem to be saying that you prefer Trump-disdain to take precedence over life. But whose life? Your life? My life? Trump’s life? All life? That doesn’t make sense, does it? Just whose life is it that you don’t view as “precious”? The only way this makes sense is if you are talking about Trump’s very life. Can you see why your statement cries out for clarification?
