I hate those people who say "Learn the matchup." There is no "matchup" to learn. You can't "adapt" from getting 0-death'd by broken special and fair strings. I'd also like to add that "learning" the matchup isn't some kind of magic that instantly makes the fight winnable. You can know all of the combos, percents, and "weaknesses" of Bayonetta, but that won't stop you from getting killed off the top once the announcer says "go".

Even a great Mario or an a pro zero suit has to play safe and have a solid neutral and land multiple hits through reads and winning neutrals before getting kill confirms. Bayo has go to kill combos off of almost every attack. She has better frame data than 90% of the cast. This is just an unnecessary boon. Yeah, I could tell because old-school ladder combos utilized the downward angled side special WAY more. It looks more broken pre-patch cause it was, we would've seen it for sure if any of them were pre-patch. If you were DK or Bowser back then, you stood no chance against a Bayo that knew the pre-patch ladder combo. Not gonna lie, as much as it probably sucked on the receiving end, it was just crazy seeing I had the power to take an enemy to the top in one combo XD.

I'm honestly super sad these problems are still a thing. I've been a Bayo main from the day she was released, but not because she's good. I simply main her because I love her as a character. I love the Bayonetta games and Bayonetta herself is my favourite video game character of all time. Even if she was the worst in the game I would've mained her. I'm just dissapointed I sometimes get a bad rep simply because I main the character I love the most.

Uhm, no, not at all. I play competitive Smash, and I know I'm not the king of it. Not at all. Trust me, I play her because I love her as a character. You can believe that or you can ignore that and keep posting salty comments like this, that's up to you. If you need more proof I play characters because I like them and not because they're good, my other main next to Bayonetta is Wii Fit Trainer. She's in friggin' E-tier, and I still play her about just as much as Bayo at regionals and tourneys. Why? Because I love her as a character and I enjoy playing her, just like how I love Bayonetta as a character.

exactly, you can throw a jab or a smash attack and witch time would last about the same, especially the first time you use it in a match. it stalls if you use it constantly, and on higher percents the opponent would die with a sneeze anyways so I dont really see a problem with it.

I don't feel like witch time is a bad concept, but I feel like it should have a fixed amount of time, like maybe one and a half seconds.

I think this feeling more or less depends of the skill of the opponent you usually encounter, the more you are into competitive play the more you will stumble on bayonetta players that know what theyre doing. for people like me, who spents half time playing casually and half time playing competitively it didnt feel that overwhelming.

THE TRUTH? Bayonetta isn't much of a Smash character. The second she gets picked you're playing an entirely new game. So all of Bayo's Smash basics are terrible. BUT, everything that makes her unique is ridiculous. It's a pretty big tradeoff, but as evidenced here it threw the game balance off quite a lot.

I really only have 2 problems with this character 1. She recovers for free Witch Twist is so disjointed that NO ONE even TRIES to fuck with Bayo offstage simply because ur just gonna get hit by Witch Twist AND ur offstage vs Bayo....perfect. Hell, most (if not all) top players don't even bother getting close to the goddamn ledge when Bayo is offstage. Recovery buffs were a known thing in Sm4sh but when U CAN RECOVER FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE BLAST LINE AND CANT BE FUCKED WITH, WE HAVE A PROBLEM 2. Witch Time Why IS IT INTANGIBLE!? IT MAKES NO SENSE. IT'S A COUNTER, NOT A GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD. It counters on Frame 5-21 and is INVINCIBLE Frames 5-16 meaning that EVEN IF U READ IT U HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE INTANGIBILITY WEARS OFF, WHY!? Hell, even if u do wait you're practically FORCED to grab. Why? Because fucking Bat Within kicks in at Frame 17 and lasts until Frame 29, are u fucking KIDDING ME!? *sigh* I feel so much better now

Im trying to transition from melee to learning bayo in sm4sh, and therefore have been watching allot of videos of pros playing her in recent times. I had actually seen and remembered all of these while trying to watch only post patch games (I remember them well since I always rewatch the combos in slow motion to see what queues or knowledge the bayo players may be using to complete them) Though I would like to say. One of them used the tree to get zero really high before being able to restart the combo again into the low cieling. Another used witch time to get the enemy into a higher position so that they could start the guaranteed part of the combo much closer to the blast zone. And the last one was very blatetlntly bad sdi/di.

Bayonetta is the reason I will never touch online mode ever again, I just know that someone is gonna play as shitty ass Bayonetta and is going to fucking win, so I just gave up on online mode after Bayonetta, haven't touched smash bros all together much on 3DS anymore since (instead I've been playing tomodachi life) because I wanted Pichu back (and maybe young link) but instead they put Bay*OP*assfuckera in the game along with Corrin except newsflash (Corrin is better because Corrin isn't broken like fuckass Bayonetta) I got a Wii U in 2016 (yes, I know, really really late, it was december 2016 too) and I love Smash Bros on Wii U because I don't have any of the disappointing DLC downloaded yet... it's nice to see someone that FINALLY agrees with me on how broken and how underpowered some characters are...

Bowser Junior (Larry) is the only character I'm using *and* he is overly weak as fuck... and whether one can beat Bayonetta or not, she is still OP because she has diagonal attacks which the other characters don't, her taunts can be stopped at any time to avoid getting attacked during a taunt, and of course, that un-avoidable shit stain attack as mentioned in this video that can literally be done endlessly looped until a character is pushed upward out of bounds and if she is your opponent, you literally *cannot* get out of that because there is too much animation lag to quickly block the attack, and even if there was no animation lag, you still cannot get out of it, once it happens, you lose a point, whether you have 999% damage or 0% damage, it's a right off the bat loss of a point... and the fuck is a matchup, how is it done, oh well, sounds completely nonexistent to me knowing this is up against Bayonetta, a character with an imbalanced amount of attacks and an imbalanced amount of damaging and so on... a battle can literally just begin and Bayonetta is there to use that unbalanced shit attack that is literally an intentionally made by the developers unfunny version of a Luigi-Ladder or a Pac-Ladder, and I never lost to Bayonetta because I never went up against Bayonetta because I stopped using Online Mode when Bayonetta was announced because of the imbalanced amount of attacks and the stoppable taunts and all that shit, and then those people out there who would say Bayonetta is not OP cuz they like her and play as her and shit, why does she have to have more attacks than *ALL* the other characters, and why are her taunts stoppable!

Larry Koopa 64 DS hacker learn which characters are more favorable than others against Bayonetta. And That's why you pocket a character are use a secondary that may have an advantage. It's OK to main/use like 3 characters because it covers bad matchups. Main thing is to learn to adapt. The melee community has been forced to adapt to Fox's Shine, Falco's Lasers, and Marth's Grab Range. Yet barely anyone complains about it. Same thing for smash 4. People learn to adapt and find flaws. They exploit those flaws to tip the meta game out of that character's favor. People have beaten Bayonetta and proved that she's not as busted as you think she is. If melee Fox can be beaten, then Bayonetta can also be beaten. I implore you to get back into smash. Don't whine about how there's no more patches or she OP. And don't get mad and just stay determined. Even busted characters can be overcome. Here's a quote from my friend, "Don't be the Salted, be the Salter." That means don't be the one to get salty, and be the one to make others salty.

most of the new characters in the roster are pretty bad honestly, and greninja is way too fast (and is also one of the only good new characters) along with characters such as Pac-Man also being one of the only good new characters, and duck hunt also being one of the only good new characters as well, the returning characters are pretty good though because they aren't overrated characters that only made the roster due to massive fan-service, except non of them compare to Bowser Junior and the Koopalings, and I'm pretty sure if I want to get good at one character, I should only play that one character... people also complained all the time about Meta-Knight being "Broken" despite the fact in Brawl, I easily beat a level 9 Meta-Knight, and in Melee, I *cannot* seem to beat a level 9 fox, I seem to be able to beat a lot of character CPU's on level 9 in smash 4 though, I don't have the Bayonetta DLC so I can't exactly practice it at the moment, but if I get the time and get the money, I might try practicing against Bayonetta and try to overcome fighting Bayonetta despite the fact she has more attacks than all other characters and she has stoppable taunts so I can't easily attack her when she is taunting...

I greatly thank you for making this. I full on agree that Bayonetta is the most obnoxious hand holding character in the game. Seriously screw her Bitch Twist and Bitch Time! Cheap moves that practically give you wins instant of earning anything. I can't tell you how many times I've yelled when fighting this character! No offense to anyone who uses her, it's not their fault after all. Just don't expect me to fight Bayo though.

They should nerf bayonetta by making it so you cant use her recovery moves multiple times without doing a combo on a character and make witch time still take the damage and knockback if they get hit by a move ALSO they need to nerf her damage and take away a jump
