… and THAT folks, is exactly why they called Brian "dog ears". He can hear every note of every instrument and every vocal in every song he hears. This, despite having partial hearing loss from his idiot father hitting him.

It must have been nerve taking to live up to Brian’s expectation. How he was able to instantly hear if a vocal was wrong and come up with a correction. It’s amazing to me that these vocals weren’t multi tracked but sang live to tape.

dedication paired with precision, and here, a lot of patience and professionalism

I just came here from a clip of Brian leading a studio rehearsal of instrumental parts of God Only Knows. The complexity and pressure of perfection in multiple moving instrumental parts then doing the same with vocals is jaw dropping.

Sounds like a transition chord at the end of the first few takes, so this was maybe intended to lead into something different than the way it was assembled for the BW Presents Smile in 2004.

Benjamin. It's called "practice makes perfect". In our choir we find that we can learn a piece in five repetitions. To get it to standard takes another fifteen or more, depending on how fussy the musical director is. You just keep going until it's right, or as right as you can get it.

@@vincevirtuaand this is how they got as good as they are, also this is what musicians do they do a lot of takes particularly really beyond good ones like Brian. Most are too lazy to deal with that level of excellence I guess.

Dear Lord I can’t believe that I just heard MIKE LOVE tell one of the other Beach Boys to “sing from your throat” Mike was born with an extended nasal cavity that acts as his ‘throat’ with which he uses to “sing”

@larrylewis57219 жыл бұрын
+MichaelsShortFilms Still sounds more like speeded up....their talking between singing is a bit too rapid for normal chat and sounds just a touch "chipmunk"-y. I'ts not important. And I'm not taking anything away from their talent, of course...as you note, that they can "bust out" singing like that is indeed amazing.
@daisyjane10708 жыл бұрын
I've heard that some singers do that to check their harmonies. Apparently the bum notes stand out more when you play it a little fast. I've never heard about the BB's doing that though.
