Season 3 was definitely a big let down over all with a few fine moments. Definitely not bad but also not missing the magic of the other 2 seasons. I kind of expected this to happen as it’s hard to keep the momentum on a show like this. Dare I say this seasons was a little pretentious and a far cry from the gritty indie rock style of the first season.

@@arnoldd7073 I don't think he is "perfect" but I do appreciate that someone finally aknowledge that Carmy is still no where near David ! The guy straight up insulted him all the time, whereas as you said, sometimes Carmy gets too hard during service but he also takes it slow at times and compliments people, and he NEVER insulted Syd ! Everyone assumes that the panic attack is exlusively induced by Carmy but I think it's only him : it's just the monting stress of it all, the fact that she has to make a hard choice etc. In the final of season 2 she threw up after the opening because of the stress of it all and Carmy wasn't even here. One more thing : people tend to forget that Carmy isn't the only one who does wrong : Syney already shout and said terrible things to Richie (in The Review episode for instance), Richie does the same etc. but people forgive them and not Carmy for some reason...

Carmy’s a “good” person at heart, his flaw imo is he tries so hard to excel and perfect his craft because it’s essentially his identity, he’s more focused on pouring all of his energy into cooking as a way to be something larger than himself, cuz he’s afraid of confronting his true feelings and emotions. I think it stems from all the turmoil in his family growing up and he’s always kept distance from them and anybody that he could potentially get close with or care for (like Claire), since he started cooking and as he’s become an incredibly successful chef. He doesn’t believe he’s worthy of good things and because of that he’s always afraid that he’s gonna fk shit up or things will just go bad for him, so he pours his heart and soul into being the greatest chef, and inadvertently being an overly ambitious asshole who is obsessed with success because that’s the only thing that could ever truly give him an identity that he feels could deserve his own love. I hope his confrontation with chef winger at the end of season 3 and chef terry telling him that we’re invincible cuz we don’t know it all lets Carmy be a little less hard on himself, after all cooking is about nurturing as one of his mentors said, but sadly for Carmy I think he associates cooking instead with torturing himself to live up to the idealized version of him that can actually be worthy of love and appreciation in his eyes. My guy needs to ask himself and remember why he actually loves to cook

I feel I might be in the minority here, but I wish for Sydney to not stay back at The Bear, as she has realised that shes always going to be the fall back guy for Carmy. The last episode of the 3rd season she seems to have an epiphany that she loves everyone at The Bear, except working with Carmy and his temperament and if she moves on that gets to be the next character arc for Carmy to change his attitude and not turn into another Jeff. Claire being the end all for Carmy is just too cheesy for a show of this calibre. Edit: "Turn into another David".. why did I think his name was Jeff?! Oh well, maybe I never thought of him😈

I completely disagree with everyone calling this the worst season so far. Both 'Napkins' and 'Ice Chips' were some of the best episodes of television I have ever seen. The premiere and finale were both incredible as well. The season was a lot slower and lacked the drive of the first two, but is arguably the most well written of the three. The performances were absolutely fantastic across the board. I truly loved almost everything about this season. I would've liked a little more payoff, like Carmy apologising to Claire and Richie recieving closure of the situation with Tiff, but I loved what we got and can accept that some of that is being saved for S4. This show is up there as one of my favourites ever. Its just so breathtakingly human.

Nah this is the worse season out of all three... That doesn't make it a bad season but it very stale... The plot doesn't move and I get wanting to develop background characters but they over did it in some cases... Like ice picks... I actually agree with @brandonfly4611! I like to think of this season as a meal being cooked slowly in low heat so we can savor the next season when it's served. We just gotta be patient with it. Not all meals need to be cooked quickly in high heat! Meaning, not everything in this series needs to be as intense as the first two. I think its kinda poetic that it started with a funeral with Marcus' mom and ended with a funeral with Chef Terry's restaurant. Like what the video said, all throughout the season, everyone is grieving in their own way and looking for peace with the things that they lost along the way. Tina with her old job, Marcus with her mom, Richie feels like he is losing his family because his ex wife is getting married, Carmen losing his sanity because he is a perfectionist, Sydney having a panic attack in the final episode. This season is about loss and grief so it still ties up with the first two seasons when everyone was grieving when they lost Mikey.

She kind of talked about when talking with Luca in the last episode, how there isn’t really someone close to her in her life besides her dad. Hope they expand on that in the next season. I also hope she stays close with everyone at the bear, but as a career move unless Carmy changes she needs a change of scenery. Carmy, as uncle Jimmy, is like a kid with too many crayons, he needs to tone down his ambition and genuinely focus more on his people and his own well being rather than only on his food/craft.

@@Atomicl3itch99 Valid, but also, it seems they’re evolving a bit backwards this season (not in a bad way in MY opinion I think it’s natural to have emotional set backs). Last season Camry was so much more open, he seemed to want to change, but then (sadly) just like his mother, something happens he can’t handle and he reverts back to his old methods that kept him “safe”. He tried to be nicer, and open to relationships but it blew up in his face because he can’t actually apologize ( clearly as a child he was never told sorry so why would he have that ability). Sydney on the other hand SEEMS put together but also went through a similar, while less extreme, experience with the culinary world. She is definitely able to stick up for herself more, but if there’s too much pushback she closes up and just does as she’s told. Last season she walked out of “The Beef”, she had no actual attachment to that establishment, but “The Bear”? She watched it come up from the ground, while Camry was of with…. 😒Claire.. SHE made the menu, she was actually THERE, so of course she has more of an attachment to this place where she can’t just quit. If you can remember, syd doesn’t think that she can actually do it because herself (obviously she can) so when this amazing opportunity pops up she wants to, but everyone also keeps telling her she moves too fast and doesn’t think things through sometimes, so she hesitates to actually take that step. That’s why I believe next season will be very good because they’re reaching a point where if the don’t change “The Bear” isn’t going to make it, that’s why I’m excited.

Maybe that’s the charm, that sometimes when you are maturing and you date someone who’s already mature there is that disconnect? Yet still, the gap of maturity is SO huge / she’s so forgiving of his bs that it feels like a step backwards if they end up together. She should’ve been out by this season and maybe moved on to someone else in season 4 to show that being ready/unready at different times usually means one person moves on while you grow up. And you don’t always end up together as a sign of successfully growing up. The fact she’s still waiting gives insecure / Mary sue / manic pixie dream girl vibes to me.

Most of us eat like shit because we don't want to cook outside of work and we never have time to eat at work. These family style dinners hollywood likes to show staffs have, rarely exist. You're lucky if you get 5 minutes to cram something down your food hole and even then it is usually cold because you made it an 2 hours before you finally got to eat it and youre not allowed to eat in the kitchen because its against health code.

That last episode was nauseating, saccharine bullshit. All these privileged restauranteurs sitting around giving each other metaphysical blowjobs; charismatic rich kids who convinced their rich relatives to buy them a bistro so they can moonlight as working’s class cooks …. It was so difficult to watch. I hate the the world of high end dining. Like fine art and music…it’s not about talent. It’s about connections and who can sell themselves the best. Michael was right, he’s the only one that saw through the b.s. of this industry.

Syd needs to pay her dues and not expect it to just materialize because it’s what she wants or thinks she should have and that everyone should just give it to her because she thinks she should have it. Maybe Carmy is hard on her but he isn’t cruel. He is the best of the best , maybe not great at patience or tact always but I think he is trying. She’s not ready to be a CDC but she is on the path if she ditches her youthful expectant entitlement and is patient . When she takes the new job, which I think her character arc will follow, there she will not be doing herself any favors, she will fail hard and realize that Carmy wasn’t the prick she painted him to be in her immaturity. Well written character and expertly played.

In the immortal words of the great Coach Ted Lasso, "“Fairy tales do not start, nor do they end, at the dark forest. That’s only something that shows up smack dab in the middle of the story, but it will all work out.” Season 3 is The Bear's "Dark Forest." The combination of the pressures of starting/operating a fine dining estabilishment, Carmy's quest for a Michelin star, and especially the cold war between Carmy and Richie (Side Note: Notice that the word "Cousin" was never said in the entire season?) are starting to take a toll on everyone. (Spoiler Warning) It has reached a point to where Syd is contemplating leaving The Bear. IMHO, Season 3 was all about chaos and conflict. If you pick up on the subtle and not-so-subtle signs, Season 4 will be about peace and healing. Here are my random thoughts/theories for Season 4: * The Chicago Tribune review will not be bad. I predict it will say something about The Bear having the potential of being one of the best restaurants in the world, but something is holding it back. I see this review will be catalyst for the healing and peace I was talking about. * Sweeps-centric episode. We already got a glimpse of his backstory and I can see his ep flashing back and forth between how he got to The Bear and his journey to be a sommelier (wine expert). * Dishwashers/Ebraheim episode. If there is another standalone character episode for season 4, I would really like to see it focused on The Bear's dishwashers, Manny & Angel. It would be cool to show them as The Bear's unsung heroes. Although, the smart bet would be a Ebraheim-focused episode. Since Season 1, we have a few hints on his backstory and I can see his ep being as powerful as the great "Forks" and "Napkins" eps. * I have a feeling we'll learn more about the errand that Richie and Michael had to do for Uncle Jimmy. * Can't wait to see the final dishes from Tina and Marcus' R&D work. * Finally, I predict the word "cousin" will be said by both Carmy and Richie in the last episode where they bury the hatchet...just in time as two critics from a certain tire company guide sits down for dinner. ;-) Can't wait till Season 4!

Season 1 was an 8/10 for me, season 2 was an 8.5/10. This season was a noticable downgrade, 7/10. Not bad, and still better than most other shows currently airing, but it feels a bit overinflated, over indulgent, and with very little in regards to plot progression (which was never the biggest focus in the show) but also character progression, where the main cast felt very stagnant. After ten episodes, it feels like I've only watched five, and not in a good way

while i prefer the first two seasons, i think season 3 is still a good show. i personally don’t subscribe to the audience of people saying this season wasn’t good and that it was full of nothing but filler. i think there was a lot of stuff here that did help progress the overall story, though not in the way previous seasons did. the first episode, napkins, ice chips, and the finale were some really great episodes and i’d say they can be argued to be some of the best episodes of the series. i will admit, tho, as much as i loved the faks’ comedic relief, i think there was a bit too much screentime for them, marcus feels like he took a backseat, despite having the potential to be a standout character, i wish sydney would’ve told carmy about the offer, and i wish there were more character-centered episodes like season 2 had. however, i still think this was a great season and i really need season 4 like tomorrow. 8/10 season

I think everyone’s made really valid points about disliking Clare’s place in the show. She’s unrealistic, out of place, boring, poorly written and talked up to such high degree. I think it’s the writers who are doing her dirty because she’s a manic pixie dream girl who has no flaws and sits upon a pedestal. An object of maturity for Carmen and not a person. An obstacle for Carmy to overcome (as if he doesn’t have plenty already) not exactly a living breathing person with her own arc. She’s always propped up against Sydney as a better love interest bc Syd has flaws, growth and an arc despite herself being almost too perfect of a character. She fights to be respected, dealing with Carmys flaws, her father and wasted potential of a future makes her interesting. Should she be Carmys love interest, HELL NO, but she makes more sense than Clare’s ghost-like presence in the show.
@mavenoire3704
@mavenoire3704 6 ай бұрын
@artheaux666 Sorry, but I highly disagree! I heard that phrase pixie dream girl and wouldn't call Claire that at all. The part of her being unrealistic is such a strange sentiment when Claire is the complete opposite of that. She's completely normal when compared to the other cast of characters, and that's not a bad thing, quite the opposite. Literally, all she's ever done is care for Carmy and being understanding of the chaos that he's lived through with his family. My real point of confusion is the visceral hate I've read people say about Claire as a character when she's again done nothing but love Carmy. Which in my opinion is what Carmy needs but isn't ready for because of his trauma in New York and family issues.
