I love how this episode shows why Tina was so defensive of Mikey and the Beef in the first season. She is always so protective of Mikey and the type of person he was despite his flaws. And how she resisted Carmy and Sydney...they are those hungry young kids she hated 😅

I agree, we needed this backstory. It's been long overdue. And it stuck the landing.

I think the reason Tina started crying was because the people in this shitty sandwich place were the first people all day to talk to her like she was a human being. The last guy wouldn't even look her in the eye. Then suddenly she goes to this place where people are introducing themselves to her and offering her free food and asking her about her day. That must have meant so much to her.

I love that every time we see Mikey, Carmy's line about "everyone he knew felt like he was their best friend" feels more and more true

Bro, you’re right. It kinda hits harder knowing that Mikey was kinda the glue that kept everyone together. It makes it more tragic considering he was the person that seemed to be hurting the most and was drowning in depression and pain.

I think Mikey helped to raise Carmy and pushed him out of the nest. Mikey took the hit for that estrangement. I know people who grew up in families where the siblings took over helping the parents with the kids.

That dude in the Beef scene, who was also telling Ebra about the window etc, is a guy named Chris who owns the actual real Mr. Beef in Chicago that the show is originally based on

Oh wow, this was a great reaction video. I had it on while I worked because I enjoyed the episode so much; I assumed that I would just be listening to two people appreciating all the obvious good things about this episode, and then Rekkai made like five totally unique, deeper observations in a row, I had to stop what I was typing and stare out the window for a couple of seconds. And then, Syntell said exactly what I was thinking about the depth of Rekkai’s reactions! Really fine work, gentlemen.

I love how Tina is so torn up by her experience that she takes a bite out that sandwich and doesn't even care. It wasn't until Mikey calmed her down and it was magic when she bit into it again.

Tina has a great husband his really supportive, sweet and full of optimism, Mikey was such a great person to see her right thru her and was there to comfort her and feed her that’s something I don’t think Carmen could every replicate that Food and love ❤️

I also think Tina's reaction to taking the first bite of the sandwich was from someone actually being kind and doing something nice for her. Richie with the coffee and the other gentleman with the sandwich.

I like y'all so I agree with storytelling being extremely important. S02 is all about the disaster happening in Carmy's head or influence upon others. This episode and this season is about disconnection. And she immediately sees that she found a new family by Mikey's words. Which re-affirms everything said and indicated while they did 'Fishes' and why everyone had such a hard time in S01 changing. Also. from someone who works within service industries.... this is our life. and the disconnection is part of it.... but we love the art or we need the check.

I feel bad for Tina. I've been there. Never had the luck to wander into a place for a break and get hired, but that's the prerogative of fiction. I also think that guy probably didn't have access to take the job posting down, and the bosses get away without having to deal with the pushback. And the woman who told her they couldn't hire her because she had to have a degree even though it's a job she's done was just saying what the bosses decided the policy was. Maybe night school wasn't a helpful suggestion for Tina, but it was all she had to give. We see Tina meet with various young people in her job search, but none of them really sound like the young people she describes as beautiful and hungry. They are timid or awkward or giving advice she can't afford to take, just cogs in a machine they also can't control. And mostly (all?) white and all young, which is definitely purposeful casting. It's interesting to see how Tina got to be how we saw at the beginning of the show and what a loss Mikey was for her.

Hey Guys, I got Nothing but Love for Tina💪🏽💕 Also… If you have not seen, Please place the Hulu movie “ORIGIN” with Aunjanue Ellis on your must see list. One surprise- you’ll see The Bear’s Mikey playing Aunjanue,s husband. The movie is semi bio of Pulitzer Prize winning author Isabel Wilkerson’s popular book, “Caste…”

Are you able to monetize your reaction videos? I’m thinking about starting a reaction channel for movies and tv shows but I don’t want to do it if it won’t make any money.
