Funny thing here is that I'm watching this in bed right now and I look to the side and I just happen to have my teddy bear with me. I may be 19, but I still love to be surrounded by stuffed animals, old and new. He's new, but I also have a stuffed horse that I have had since I was 9 or 10 and she's holding up my tablet so that I can watch!

Loved the Shining reference, especially since the movie opens on a horror movie scenario, where a family gets trapped in snow and have to spend the night in a creepy, abadoned cabin. And also while the movie is not exactly very good, it's still cute and charming. I love the ideas of stuffed animals trying to cheer up their owners.

“Flashy” reminds me of George Macdonald Fraser’s Flashman books, the hero of which is Fraser’s re-imagining of Harry Flashman, the bully in the 1857 novel “Tom Brown’s Schooldays” by Thomas Arnold. Fraser’s Flashy is a scoundrel with zero morals who always ends up smelling of roses, regardless of what shady adventures he has blundered into.

When I was in elementary school a friend of mine made up a story about a teddy bear that came to life at night and killed its owner. I kinda hoped the teddy bears in this movie would find an ax they’d use to go chop the tree down, not kill the kids, but it’d still be creepy.
