Ok for everyone who has noticed a "crack" in my rear axle at 15:08. You'll be pleased to know that I especially went to the workshop today and checked... It is a factory weld (with bad shadowing) not a crack! So don't freak out!😂

Absolutely amazing build, my dad had a 1995 surf when I was a kid and it was always my childhood dream to have a 4runner and I got a 1990 4runner last year and in the process of deciding to put 33inch tires on it but not too sure to go with a 2 inch suspension lift and 2 inch body lift or to go a 4 inch lift if you could give your feedback that would be greatly appreciated

Ive just done a nice marathon on the Surf (more vids pending) and mate you are an artist with all the stuff yo make....rig is looking mint....and love what you've done to the 2LTE...amazing! It'd be cool if some day you figure out how to go around that squished pipe you had to fab in order to clear the valve cover, like the angled tubes you were talking about...

Followed this exceptional build since day 1. Is there any possibility that you could do a video that covers the standard vs modded performance of the motor. It would be great to know the final increase in power over the rev range, acceleration, top speed, fuel economy, bhp etc, and how much this differs from a stock set up. A side by side comparison with a 3.0L and a standard 2.4L would reveal the difference that you have made. It would make an excellent video, and silence the critics.

Nice surf, those Kut snake guards look pretty cool, old ones look better but these would look almost as good if you colour matched them. The swing out looks sick, when you mount them the other way they stick out so much and would have to be mounted high up anyway to stay out of the way, and even if you have them empty they still stick out (which sucks if you want to daily drive it. I know, blah blah blah, you should just remove it when you don't need it.... I'm way too lazy for that). I got an Aussie delivered 4runner, with a 3.8 ecotec ⛐ . I gotta keep an eye on that hand brake kit, factory handbrake is sketch as. You gonna run it to the factory handle? I've love to see you do a floor handle conversion.
@boostedbuiltgarage
@boostedbuiltgarage 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I ummd and ahhd about the swing away setup for a while. I deemed it to be more important to have in closer to the vehicle for clearance when on an incline. Also moved the tyre up higher now that It's a 33 to maintain exit angle clearance. Yeah the handbrake kit I've designed is bloody amazing. My original plan was to do a floor mount 80 series lever. I even bought one and everything but there's just no space. I've got the factory pull brake working better than ever though so I'm not worried. It's almost effortless holding ability now

What size is the push lock line on your air compressor I'm worried about choking mine. Are you thinking of tying the exo in in more places like front bumper c piller and over the rear wheel? Loving the content especially when nz has been shut down.
@boostedbuiltgarage
@boostedbuiltgarage 4 жыл бұрын
It's 3/8 diameter line. I am going to be doing brush bars. I actually had some bent up but changed my mind on the look of them and didn't have time to waste redoing them before I raptor coated everything. Over the rear wheel won't work cause the rear door will hit it. But tbh it's only the essentials to keep it simple and light

Hi Man, do you know if I can put in a 2.8lt diesel engine in a LN 130 (2.4 turbo diesel) 1990 Can the existing turbo from 2.4 be okay with the new 2.8l? Thank you @ boosted & built garage
@boostedbuiltgarage
@boostedbuiltgarage Жыл бұрын
Yeah as far as I know they're basically the same engine and should bolt straight in. Turbo kit will be fine. The factory turbo is quite shitty and restrictive anyway so a better flowing turbo would be better but the ct20 will still work fine. Only issue with the 2.8 engine is the mechanical pump isn't boost compensated so they're not the most efficient fueling wise with a turbo on them. But obviously a turbo is much better than N/A

@boostedbuiltgarage
@boostedbuiltgarage 3 жыл бұрын
I've done alot with cars in general, not so much surf's, but it sounds like it may be one of the uni joints on the tailshaft... Grab the shaft in one hand and the other side of the uni in the other and rock them in opposite directions without turning the shaft, if you can feel the shaft move/slop slightly (independent of the other side of the uni) that's indicating wear/play and if theres enough it can be quite loud

good to see another mall crawler, there's way to much weight there for any serious 4wding, the reason you never see stacked jerry can holders one above the other is because it keeps the weight lower. Buy a hilux, do some engine mods. Get it rippin. Stack on a sh!t load of weight. Back to square one.... I don't get it... I like the mod's, but, it's the right mods on the wrong vehicle. It's like loading up a donkey with a sh!t tonne of bricks. The f(_)cker ain't gonna move. Sorry bout it!

@@boostedbuiltgarage I'm not diss'n the mods, your fabrication is f/n spit on, I give you full credit to ya, but, sometimes you gotta draw the line somewhere. That engine won't last. I've had a luxy dual cab and have driven a surf b4. Weigh everything and I mean everything, in and out. You're over GVM, your fuel consumption will be through the roof. A sh!t tonne of drag = more fuel consumption. The list goes on. I'm seeing a canary flying in the distance.
