Fifteen years after John's death. Paul, George, and Ringo came together one last time to not only honor John, but to give us one last Beatles masterpiece.

Great you found it!!! You know that John Lennon wrote the song in 1977 and Paul, George and Ringo completed it in 1994; it was released in 1995.

I’m so happy that the remaining three Beatles were able to put this beautiful song together after John’s death by incorporating his demo tape. I love it. Very bittersweet and poignant. Nice reaction 🌺✌️

There are some Beatles fans who discard this as ‘not a real Beatles song,’ but I completely disagree. And I’ve always loved it. It’s absolutely beautiful and Paul, George, Ringo and Jeff Lynne did a brilliant job with a very sketchy John demo made not long before he was murdered.
@chuckyoneil28532 жыл бұрын
It is and was a Beatles song no doubt.
@waynemarvin56612 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. A Beatles fan since '64, I can attest that this is a Beatles song. After all, most of their greatest songs were written by one or another, but did they Play on them? Yes!

Finally! Someone has decided to review the Beatle's last #1 hit in the USA! Well past the time for it. Kudos for being the first to do it! From the 1997, 10 part documentary called The Beatles, featuring John Lennon on lead vocals. Produced by Jeff Lynn of Electric Light Orchestra.
@braudabo2 жыл бұрын
Ahh, it was "only" at No.6 in the USA. The Anthology series broke a few records for multiple albums, but the singles "Free as a bird" and "Real Love" weren't particularly successful by Beatles standards. That is why it was decided, not to extract soemthing from "Anthology 3".
@johnandrews31512 жыл бұрын
braudabo #6 on who's chart? And who said anything about Something or Anthology ? And even if Free As A Bird was not #1, it would still be their 14th non #1 top 10 which I would still consider successful by any standard including Beatles standard.
@braudabo2 жыл бұрын
@@johnandrews3151 Official Billboard Charts, January 1996. In the UK, "Free as a Bird" reached number two and was beaten by Michael Jackson's "Earth Song," which was released at the same time and admittedly spectacular. By the way, on September 18 of this year, this guy, Drake, leveled the Beatles record with positions 1-5 on the Billboard charts! In addition, he also reached the ranks 7-10 (and more in the TOP 20). Of course, it is to be rated relatively, since nowadays nobody has to buy records to keep the music. Today it is already standard that a complete album is made available for streaming / download and thus many songs can be placed in the charts at the same time. In Germany, a rapper named "Capital Bra" has achieved more number one hits than the Beatles in total between 2017 and today. Nevertheless, he is relatively unknown in the country ...
@johnandrews31512 жыл бұрын
braudabo I was speaking of the Billboard Chart in the USA. I am an American, not British. And thanks for the additional info. I believe that the Beatles achieved something phenomenal in the 60's that could not be rivaled on a level playing field today, all things being equal. If the only way an artist could have a hit record today was through record sales and radio play such as in the 1960's, things would be reflected very differently. By the way, it is estimated that the Beatles have sold an estimated 800 million albums and 2.5 billion singles worldwide since 1962 and still counting. Can anyone else make that claim?

Also, at the end John is saying, "Turned out nice again." The guys decided to have that played backwards as a secret message, and were shocked when it sounded like, "Made by John Lennon."

Only the Beatles, at least I don't know anyone else, who has managed that in such an aesthetic way, can create something beautiful out of a corpse processing... Well, Natalie Cole's duet "Unforgettable" with her late father, R&B and jazz legend Nat "King" Cole from 1991, is still quite good.

Yes, the other three Beatles were added to a John Lennon Demo, but it was done out of RESPECT for the fallen Fab! The 'Threetles' as some joked at the time, knew better then to claim to be the Beatles without John.If only bands like the Who had such respect!!
