"It Was 20 Years Ago Today" documentary from 1987. It not only covered the making and release of Sgt Pepper, but the year 1967 and the counterculture in the UK and US. Also gave me my first glance of the Syd Barrett Pink Floyd. It was very educational for me in my teen years, and expanded my musical tastes.

I can't believe it to be honest - I just love the Beatles, I grew up with my parents listening to them, and I've loved them ever since. I have all the vinyl including all first pressings, rare picture discs, and all sorts of stuff... and yet... I've never ever seen a single Beatles movie!! You've inspired to to watch them in in the next couple of weeks! :)

I’d of loved to seen a collaboration of The Beatles and The Rutles. The humour from both parties was there. The Rutles, we’re actually really good musicians and writers. Anyrate, back to reality! I must admit, I agree with your top 2. Nice to see a revisit to The Beatles again.
@StripeyR Жыл бұрын
A collaboration, would have been fun. George Harrison actually does appear in the Rutles film for a bit. Neil Innis from The Rutles/Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band/Monty Python was a great musician & songwriter. I love all the Beatles films, but A Hard Days Night & Help! are the best 2 for sure. Cheers Tone

I'm not an expert on Beatles movies or documentaries as I haven't watched them all yet. All I can say is that I love A hard day's night. It has lots of memorable and iconic moments. The get back documentarie is one of the best things to happen to beatles fans in my opinion. It's very long, yes, but it's worth it. And from all of the biopics that I've watched my favorite is nowhere boy.
@StripeyR Жыл бұрын
All the movies have there own merit & flaws, Luis, but love them all, I do. Get Back is amazing & I couldn't agree with you more, It's the best things to happen to Beatles fans for a long time. Nowhere Boy was excellent. cheers fella

Stripey does another Beatles video? I thought that ship had passed! So glad you came back to us my friend. For me my favorite is a toss up between Hard Days Night & Get Back. Two of my favorite scenes were watching Paul write Get Back & then watching him realize the Beatles were breaking up (that morning after George walked out). But in the end I would have to give it to Hard Days Night. They were at the top of their game, charming, energetic, & writing amazing tunes.

I will always do Beatles video, John, I love em mate. A Hard Days Night just won over Help! Get Back was an amazing series, a true fly on the wall experience & the picture & sound were mind blowing, Mr Jackson done an outstanding job. Thanks John

If I had made this list before having seen Get Back, Let it Be would have been at four over Magical Mystery Tour. But I can't help but think how much better Get Back was than Let it Be and that forces me to drop it to fifth, making my list identical to yours. Good job! I get the feeling Lindsay-Hogg had a story to tell instead of letting the Beatles tell their own story. I thank Peter Jackson for showing more of the good times from those sessions. I had forgotten all about The Compleat Beatles. I'll have to find a dvd somewhere.
@StripeyR Жыл бұрын
Good point about Lindsay-Hogg and his story, I guess we'll never know for sure, but Get Back definitely has a much better vibe about it, Peter Jackson done a phenomenal job on the series. The Compleat Beatles was the documentary that really hooked me onto The Beatles. I'd love to see a Blu Ray release, I think it was only released on VHS & LaserDisc. Malcolm McDowell's narration was so good. Cheers Steve

Magical Mystery Tour for me Stripey for it's weirdness, great songs and that memorable I Am the Walrus segment (my favourite Beatles song) and Your Mother Should know segment.

The music in MMT is superb aswell as the videos to the songs. There is some moments "Death Cab for Cutie" by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band is fun. You're right "It's Weird" cheers Tony

I bought a copy of the single blu ray disc version of Ron Howard’s eight days a week from one of the pound shops for £2 (yer I know). Yesterday,I bought the two disc box set version for £5,with has special features and five rare live performances by the band. I’ve also got “get back” on blu ray too,which I love. I’ve only seen “a hard days night” when it comes to their films. ✌️♥️

Hello mate. I think I would probably agree with your list. All good in their own way though. So many Beatles related films. Like yourself I had The Compleat Beatles long ago. Nearly all of John Lennon's life is covered by film with Nowhere Boy, Backbeat, Lennon Naked and Two Of Us. The Linda McCartney Story TV movie shows some of the later days of the group. Same for George's Living In The Material World. I think with Peter Jackson on board now and his penchant for trilogies, a multi episode Beatles biopic is long overdue. But maybe Paul and Ringo will have had to shuffle off before that can happen, and I hope that's many years away. As an aside. There was also talk of a Brian Epstein biopic to. That would be very interesting. Great video as always mate. 👍

Hi Mate. I'd love to see The Compleat Beatles remastered on Blu Ray (doubt that'll happen tho) I've seen most of the biopics & loads of the documentaries (not all...yet) What Peter Jackson did with Get Back was simply amazing (I'd love him to do more). The Epstien bio sounds interesting, hopefully it'll come to fruition. Cheers mate, I hope all is well with you. 👍

Agree on your rankings of the films. Think my fave bio film is backbeat. The soundtrack is awesome. As far as the documentary series I would say the new get back series is by far the best. It’s like being in the room with the band and you get to feel their personalities a bit more. As you say though, the music in all of them is phenomenal.
@StripeyR Жыл бұрын
I've not seen Backbeat for years (I'll have to dig that out) I remember it was really good. Get Back was a game changer but for me The Compleat Beatles is my fav & the one that started my Beatles journey. Cheers Dave

Hi mate My first Beatles documentary video was The Compleat Beatles, a VHS cassette. The Get Back documentary was way too long. I found it very boring at some moments. And it's hard to say for me me,as a Beatles fan. My favourite documentary is the Anthology series. Considering Beatles films, I prefer Help! Nowhere Boy is my favourite biopic. Take care.
@StripeyR Жыл бұрын
Hi matey Compleat Beatles seems to be a lot of people's first doc (still fantastic in my humble opinion) Get Back was a bit too long, but wow, the picture and sound was amazing. It's definitely a different take to the Let It Be, fim/doc. Help! Is so much fun to watch, and it was a close call, but HDN just pipped the post. Nowhere Boy is terrific, as I recall, it's been a while tho, I'll have to give it a re watch. Cheers, Pe Ke 👍

Hi yer Stripey mate. Great video as always and beatles as well... whats not to like ! My list would be 1. Hard days night 2. Help 3. Magical mystery tour 4. Yellow submarine 5. Let it be. Favourite Bio ............. The birth of the Beatles John Altman played my hero George in that and popped in our carpet shop to buy a lounge carpet. He was chuffed that i recognised him from that and not Dot Cottons son in Eastenders ! Favourite Documentary.......... Anthology Have a great weekend Stripey, all the best mate.
