Great video! Wife and I visited June 24-27, 2022. Wish I had watched some videos prior. After waiting decades to visit the UK, we were amazed, and fascinated by many things. We did many of the usual tourist attractions. The young lady in the Beatles Museum on Mathew said that Freda Kelly would visit occasionally. Can't wait to see more videos and visit in the future.

Very enjoyable video. I’m from Liverpool and in answer to your question yes they are revered here as much as anywhere else but it certainly wasn’t always the case. In the 1970s and early 80s the city was almost embarrassed about The Beatles and they weren’t really celebrated in the slightest. But thankfully that has all changed these days. Sadly it took the death of John to finally start that change. You were so close to Nems!…it was literally right opposite the Holland and Barrett on the other side of the street. But yes great video, and there’s plenty of other places with Beatle connections if you ever fancy coming back and making part 2! Take care.
@TudorSmith

Other locations? Really? I’ll have to do some more research and perhaps a part 2 wouldn’t hurt eh? I had a funny idea I was looking on the wrong side for NEMS - I think I even mutter “or it’s in the right”. Some kid was signing his heart out just outside McDonalds and it was hurting my ears lol. I had to move along from there pretty quickly!

@@TudorSmith yeah I think you said in the video you didn’t do George’s houses…they are pretty spread out. I think I’d go for Arnold Grove, easier to get to and where he was born. Then there’s the Casbah, Blue Angel, Ye Cracke, Liverpool Institute, Gambier Terrace just off the top of my head.

I'm surprised you didn't go in the Cavern Club. There is also now a large coloufrul mural of Ringo on the side of the Empress pub. On Penny Lane there is a Beatles Visitor Centre. Most enjoyable Tudor, you're an excellent guide. You definitely need to do a part 2 though. While you were at Falkner Street you could have knocked off the (former) Liverpool Institute, the Liverpool Art College and Ye Cracke pub, which are just round the corner. Also Gambier Terrace opposite the Anglican Cathedral, where John lived for a while when he was an art student. The Casbah Club in Hayman's Green is quite important in the story too. Then there are George's childhood homes in Arnold Grove, Wavertree and Upton Green, Speke. And of course, Strawberry Fields. As for your question, do Liverpool people still revere the Beatles? I think, yes, we're very proud of them. Possibly some of the younger generations don't quite "get" them in the same way musically, unless they've made the effort to listen to the back catalogue.

After the quiet bit in the vid, on Mathew Street just behind your right shoulder you can see an empty space. That was 10 Mathew Street, The Cavern Club. The site was going to be used for an air shaft for the underground railway that was cancelled after all. The club was dangerous as there was only one way in or out, the front narrow stone steps. Accident waiting to happen, but we didn't think about that at the time, only the music.

im from Liverpool and never liked the district of Penny Lane and where Strawberry Fields is situated, they are sort of in the middle of nowhere and there is nothing to see, and you can easily pass them in an instant, i ove the Beatles and if i ever go into the city centre i sometime give a nod to Mathew Street, but because, its just there, we dont notice it as much...and i remember hot drunken sweaty Saturday nights in The Cavern which were just horrible..but feel lucky that i am in a position that we can nip in the Cavern for a pint, but thats how far it goes...im sure there is a plaque on the floor for N.E.M.S. you walked right past it...also coming from Liverpool we can spot a tourist trap and rip off souvenir prices from a mile away...but the city is great and the people are boss !...i was once asked where somewhere was and i ended up showing them where everything was, great fun to find out where people are from and what they think of The Beatles and they couldnt get over my accent as they said i spoke like every member of The Beatles...yeah im a scouser, obviously...lol x

I lived in Liverpool back in 1982 and in fact my dad is buried in Smithdown Cemetry so I always place some flowers there when I'm up that way. I think although Penny Lane and Strawberry Field are not really in the touristy part of the city, the facination for me is being where the lads would have trod their footsteps as youths. Even as far out as Speke for Georges home. Nothing to see there if you're a tourist but amazing to stand there knowing George grew up there.

Glad you enjoyed it. It’s an amazing place for a Beatle pilgrimage that’s for sure. You’ll see the difference if your 12 year old self memories still exist! 🤣 I used my DJI Osmo Pocket for all the video footage. Bought it second hand on eBay. It’s really good but I should read the manual, because sometimes the autoexposure plays up. But I’m happy with what it gives me 👍

These are excellent videos. Very well edited, etc. I'm surprised you don't have many subs and views. Maybe spend some time on the marketing/promotion. Perhaps it's because the channel doesn't have a definite identity yet. Is it Beatles or walkabouts? I loved your Pride and Prejudice video too. The riches are in the niches. Keep it up though, Tudor. Looking forward to your next offering.

Thanks very much. Yeah perhaps I’m not focused enough. People enjoy the videos but I don’t get many likes or shares. I don’t like to pressure people though. I’ve never been hot on the hard sell 🤣 I’ll keep plugging away and see how things pan out though 👍
@Dazbog373
@Dazbog373 Жыл бұрын
@@TudorSmith Yeah unfortunately, promotion is at least half the work. But there are Beatles focused channels with far less quality and more subs. I see you're a musician too. Perhaps reach out to some other channels like Pop Goes the 60s and arrange an interview or something. I think you two would have a lot to talk about in all honesty. Keep it up though. And throw in the occasional literary walkabout too or even start a second channel devoted to the walkabouts.👍

There's now a superb statue of Brian near the old NEMS. Myself and my girlfriend had a whirlwind four days visiting loads of Beatles locations a few weeks ago (plus going inside Forthlin Road and Mendips), and Mathew street was just a five-minute walk from our hotel. I agree about the identikit city centre, but despite that the warmth and character of the city still shone through. Probably my favourite UK city. Edit: A statue of Cilla Black now stands outside the original location of the Cavern.

@mikeysaint4368
@mikeysaint4368 Жыл бұрын
@@TudorSmith The houses were interesting, but crammed in with about a dozen other people meant it was difficult to wallow in the history. Also, Mendips was very sparsely furnished in order for all those people to squeeze in. It was nice being allowed to play the facsimile of Jim McCartney's piano at Forthlin Road, which is the one Paul played on Carpool Karaoke.
