The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) - Guitar Cover - Epiphone Casino

This is a great rocker and a fantastic close to the Sgt. Pepper album! A quirky guitar phrase from George starts the song and John's driving rhythm guitar powers the rest of it. One thing to notice is that in some places when both John and George are playing at the same time, John's guitar volume drops down or is completely silent. This may have been due to the bouncing down of the tracks. An Xotic AC Booster pedal was used to simulate the loud and distorted guitar tone from the Beatles' Vox 7120 amplifiers. Some large room reverb was added to the guitar tracks to emulate the natural reverb in Abbey Road 's cavernous Studio 1, where the Beatles recorded this song. Not heard in this cover is the Hohner Pianet (Hammond Organ?) part that complements John's rhythm.
Recorded with an Epiphone Casino Elitist, Xotic AC Booster, and Vox AC15. The microphone used was a Shure SM57.

pretty much spot on. Tone and everything. LIterally the only mistake i can find is at 0:11 i think the top guitar is supposed to hit that chord on the upbeat. But really amazing job

I've seen loads of great guitarists and those players were great in their own way...John, George, and sometimes Paul composed some outstanding guitar pieces. Each one of them were in that "class." One of my favorites is the two guitar parts in "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except me and my Monkey." Do you have a video of that one?

Totally agree with this. The two Beatle guitar sound is one of the best examples of playing together to make rhythm and chords interesting, and their solos fit the songs perfectly. I haven't done that one yet, but I agree that the parts they play in that song are fantastic!

I had the treble turned up a little over half and the bass a little under half. The preamp levels on the amp were turned to about half and I used an Xotic AC Booster to create much more distortion.

I've listened to Sgt. Pepper reprise outtake on the 50th anniversary and noticed something...There is no Bass which means that Paul was not playing Bass until after it was recorded. I believe due to the Organ overdubs this means that Paul most likely overdubbed Bass and George played the rhythm guitar. John didn't play at all because there isn't even Bass on the outtake. I'd also like to point out that the small fills on lead guitar are very 1967 McCartney like. He barely leaves the A minor scale and they are very fast. So with that in mind here is my assumed lineup Paul McCartney: Lead Guitar, Vocals, Bass Organ.John Lennon: Vocals (Percussion?).George Harrison: Rhythm Guitar, Vocals.Richard Starkey: Drums, (Potentially Vocals).

Paul then later overdubbed the bass.

Thanks! I used a Vox AC15 with the pre-amp volume at about 1/3. I also used an Xotic AC Booster pedal to distort the signal further and get a tone similar to a Vox 7120.

That is for the original version that opened the album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. While Paul did play lead guitar on that version, the Reprise version I covered has George playing lead guitar.

Actually if you listen the 50th anniversary version of the opening Sgt. pepper, you can hear John and George playing guitars on the left channel and Paul's overdubbed Lead Guitar on the right channel.

it's actually Paul and George playing the guitars in the back round. Paul on rhythm and George on sort of a lead rhythm mix. Paul over dubbed the lead intro later. I assume the outro is Paul and George. The fuzzy chords in the middle I'm not sure because everything I read says something different.
