Ringo, the drummer, is not normally discussed by critics when they talk about top rock drummers. But other drummers definitely studied Ringo. One of the things they note is that he had excellent feel and swing. He harmoniously holds his space, doing the right things to complement the rest of the band. And he makes it sound easy, when it really isn't.

Spot on with the uniqueness of this drum pattern. Ringo came up with it specifically for this song.
@jthaw3 ай бұрын
Actually, the drum pattern on this track was McCartney's idea. He has talked about this, as has Ringo.

Here is the roadmap for doing the Beatles' main discography properly: PLEASE PLEASE ME (1963); WITH THE BEATLES (1963); A HARD DAY'S NIGHT (1964); BEATLES FOR SALE (1964); HELP! (1965); RUBBER SOUL (1965); REVOLVER (1966); SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND (1967); MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR (1967); YELLOW SUBMARINE (1968); THE BEATLES (aka THE WHITE ALBUM, 1968); ABBEY ROAD (1969); LET IT BE (1970); PAST MASTERS VOL. 1 and 2 (1988 collection of all their singles and stray tracks that were not released on the original albums; includes HUGE hits such as "She Loves You," "I Want To Hold Your Hand," "Day Tripper," "Hey Jude," and many others).

It's a shame you didn't listen to their stuff in roughly chronological order so you could hear how their sound evolved over the years they were together. This was from 1965, still pretty early during their run as the world's #1 pop band. You really should watch the documentary film, "How the Beatles Changed the World," so you might gain a bit more perspective on just how big they were. The movie is on KZbin.

Ringo is seriously underrated as a drummer, he never goes batshit crazy, that’s why he doesn’t get enough recognition, but his drumming is tasteful and complements the other’s sound very well, he just knows exactly how and when to play to add to a song other than “steal it”. He was the perfect drummer for the Beatles I think. And in a sense I think each one of them was the perfect beatle, no one of them could be replaced. They all added something to the mix. If you’re on your Beatle journey, I would recommend check out something from their early catalog and see how they started out, “ticket to ride” is still relatively early staff, that’s why it sounds different, you can tell there was a shift or better evolution in their music, definitely prefer their later music, but even then you can tell they were extremely talented, also they were self thought musicians, you will eventually cover something that wasn’t their finest work, even tho still enjoyable, but it’s admirable the way they evolved when became studio artists. You should check out “revolution” next, to see how their music affected cultural change, but not “revolution 1” nor “revolution 9” , I don’t think you’re ready for that quite yet, it might put you off. Also some of my favourite songs “something” from Abbey road, “Happiness is a warm gun”, “yer blues” from the white album, “strawberry fields forever”, “a day in the life” and if you want to check some of their bigger hits as emerging band i would go with “ she loves you”, adorable baby Beatles, and “twist and shout” technically a cover but great performance, also “I should have known better” “love me do”. Sorry for the long ass comment, couldn’t be anymore succinct.

short explanation...the Beatles were a tight unit, all are equally important, no show offs. they were never about having a star player stand out, and at the time it was not a custom to have a bat shit crazy drummer or anyone else.
@hungfao3 ай бұрын
Go back about a year and they were doing things like 'She Loves You' and 'I Wanna Hold Hold Your Hand'. The sophistication of their song writing in that short period was surprising. And all they did for the next 4 years was get better and better. Soon, they were light years ahead of everyone.

This was a #1 hit Single the SPring before the HELP movie and album album came out. The USA version of the HELP album wad the seven songs in the movie, plus the movie's music score by the orchestra. ALL USA Beatles albums were different from the British ones until Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band in 1967. Then pictures you are seeing are from the movie HELP during the Ticket To Ride song and pictures taken in-between takes.

I don't care what anyone has ever said about Ringo. He played percussive instruments as if they were a non percussive instrument. It's hard to put in words, but rather than being a throbbing backbone to a song, his playing made the other instruments just sound better. He's been my favorite of the four since the Ed Sullivan show. And John's the best song writer and singer, and was the soul of the band. Just my opinion for 60 years...

Hello Ace. This past Sunday, a went and saw a Beatles Tribute band called Rain. If you want to know what a Beatles concert was like, check out this show. They played Beatles music from the entire Beatles years. Starting with Please Please Me to songs from Abbey Road., and these guys were amazing. You could swear they were the real Beatles. I think all Beatles fans should check out this band. I have seen several Beatles tribute bands, but Rain is by far the best by far. Their sound is superior to all others. Ace, you need to see Rain.

This is a John Lennon song which was a big radio hit for the Beatles. It shows that Paul and John could both write hit songs and then add George Harrison. Many of today's reactors also don't realize that this was on the heavy side of rock back in the sixties. 60's heavy metal, lol.

When this song was first released, it was so different and refreshing! Whatever it is in rock, the Beatles did it first. The drum pattern is unique, and the drum pattern in Fleetwood Mac's Go Your Own Way kind of reminds me of this... but it was 12 years later.

Just a little tip with Beatles reactions. Though there wasn't an issue with this video, I would highly recommend using Beatles songs from the official Beatles channel only. The reason why is because 9 times out of 10, any uploaded Beatles song on youtube from an unofficial channel is likely to be fake, a cover, or an unreleased take and not the original. Avoid them. (This is because Beatles music that is reuploaded on youtube is usually taken down - as many reactors probably known - and so most of the ones that are still up are covers or versions that don't sound like the original). Otherwise, inevitably, you'll react to what you think is the song when actually it's a knock-off or a cover and you'll get your comments filled with people telling you it isn't the right one, etc. Luckily this one sounds like the original but yeah, just a heads up!. Love your reactions.

My sister saw them at Candlestick Park but I never saw them. Our neighbor had a guy who managed their farm and he was part-heir to Brian Epstein's estate. He gave my sister snapshots of Paul McCartney, personal snapshots, not something snapped like Paparazzi. One was color of Paul getting up out of bed in Red pajamas with white piping. The other was black and white of Paul walking on the beach (somewhere). I always wants to show them to Paul and have him remember exactly what was going on the day those pictures were taken. Sadly, the two snapshots are gone.

To understand the Beatles you have to know their inspiration. Well look a little further back to Buddy Holly and the Crickets. Buddy developed the two guitar, one bass, and drummer band make up up that is still in use today. Buddy started out country until they opened for Elvis in Texas. He ran with with the blues, gospel, and rock beat. The Beatles were so enamored they payed homage by naming themselves after the Crickets = Beatles. The Beatles sold off the rights to their music many years ago to Michael Jackson. But Paul McCartney still holds the rights to Buddy and the Crickets. Yes the Beatles took this start and evolved and made history. Still an influence to today's sounds.

You happen to mention you like Ringo's drumming because you don't hear here drums like that. It may be because Ringo is left-handed. But when he got his first set of drums, his mother bought him A Regular set up drums. So Ringo literally Learn to play drums backward so that may have gave him a Different Style of drumming sound.
