Me too Denise, I have always loved embroidery, actually any craft done with a needle and thread. Over the last year I’ve been indulging in Goldwork. I have watched KZbin videos, Sarah Homfrey videos are very informative. I also bought a couple of books on different techniques. I find Goldwork so enjoyable, the materials are of course so beautiful to work with, it really is super enjoyable to do.

I loved this video. It was as if I found a rock of cool fresh water in a desert. My main work involves studying culture. Embroidery has, in recent years, been put in the cultural mind as something women were forced to do by the patriarchy! Only foolish women of low intelligence enjoyed embroidery. My view is that embroidery has been, in the main, part of the skill set of women. A traditional garment flowing with tiny stitchwork to a child's sampler that is breathtaking and all else in between is something of the feminine that should be celebrated. It was a great joy to find a woman speaking so articulately about this sublime artform.

For embroidery, India is a good place to visit as well. They have a lot of male embroiderers there.

Maybe, in Europe, women do all the embroidery, but, in India, is men who do that.
