I've been going into the Radnor Forest or passing through it for some years now and its beauty never fails to impress me in winter or summer. In this short video I share with you some of its delights.
This is all Wye catchment. The waters flowing off the Radnor Forest flow into the Ithon, Lugg and Arrow, which all flow into the Wye. Towns nearby are Kington in Herefordshire and Llandrindod Wells in Mid Wales.
Most famous feature: Water breaks its neck waterfall. Spectacular.

Love the radnor forest, strangely enough I have been hiking there today along the Harley valley up to great Ross and black mixen. Been many times over the years and never tire of it. Like you mark I absolutely love mid Wales and the cambrians. Excellent video Mark. 👍

Stunning scenery, Mark. Loved the Buzzard and Short-eared Owl pictures, too. I was sitting watching the sunset near me on Thursday, when a Barn Owl flew past about five metres from me. Hadn't seen one in decades! Amazing what you see when you "get out there". Cheers!

I remember seeing an old black and White postcard of the Radnor Forest from around 1904. The whole of the valley Floor was covered in a mature deciduous forest….

That's interesting Ian. Yeah, the commission moved in during the 40's and put in the mixed plantation on is Northern slopes. I imagine some of it buried in there. All the best. Mark

Crackin' stuff Mark, owl on the tuft of grass was awesome. I've got a warped sense of humour, there was a shot down a big valley with a steel farm gate and a stile with the top wooden spar broken....... I could imagine someone loitering with their weight on that top spar, looking at the view, thinking how good life was & the spar giving way !!!😜😂😬😟
