Right!? Imagine being brave enough to go after him, just to be shown that her life being changed forever mattered less than his!? Maybe had he been met with actual consequences, the ladies he murdered would still be alive. And like this is minimum, but now she can't ever go to the beach for an escape. Imagine if she has kids and their like, "ma let's go to the beach!" & BAM-- her mind goes back to that day.

The fact that the court can easily be affected by his family's influence and money tells that the justice system has long been corrupted. Poor girl has been traumatized very badly not only sexual assault but neglect from those who she believed could help her. If she lost all hope in mankind, I don't blame her.

I just don't understand why police act like a child who "voluntarily runs away" isn't in danger still..? All children are very vulnerable in this world & shouldn't be alone without any protection, food/money or safe transportation. They cannot take care of themselves on their own; regardless of whether or not they left on their own accord, they're still in harm's way! Missing children need to be found immediately before being taken advantage of, it's just so heartless when authorities brush it off like that.

Something that sadly comes up a lot in these cases is their future. People will say "What about their future? This'll ruin it!" as if they didn't do that themselves with the crimes they committed and the trauma they caused. Why should their future matter more than the victims life and what the victims gone through? Its seriously messed up.

When I was about seventeen, I was at a concert with my family. A man came up to me (he clearly didn’t see my dad right there; it was super crowded) and asked me if I performed well in front of a camera. I was so uncomfortable; I could feel the color draining from my face. My dad saw the whole thing and said “EXCUSE ME- WHAT did you just say to my daughter?!” He’d barely got the sentence out and the man slinked off. There was definitely a dark element to what he was trying to do and I’m so glad my dad was there.

It was always laughed at like "boys will be boys" and it just shows you how masogynistic society is in general. And also back then I'm pretty sure it was acceptable to hit on 13 year olds. This was in the same time period where a famous singer (Jerry Lee Lewis) married his own 13 yo cousin. Listen to the songs of the 1950's and 1960's and how much they talk about "little girls". Hey Eleanor. I was wondering if you would ever consider covering the case of Marc Detroux? He was a horrible man who kidnapped and essentially murdered of young girls in Belgium. The case is still very delicate in Belgium but I have never heard anyone talk about it online. I feel like you would be great in covering it respectfully. It is also very interesting and shows the failure of the police system and the outrage of the people.

Agreed, but back then, they did not believe children/young adults and women were blamed almost entirely when sexual violence happens. My grandfather beat, raped and terrorized my grandmother from the mid 40s until they divorced in the early 60s. He was never charged, with any of it. Until 1984, legally, it was impossible to rape your wife. Until DNA testing, it was basically your word against theirs, and women were seen as emotional.

L's shawty Nope, I said nothing like that at all; please don’t put words in my mouth. Sure, it’s fine to detail and call out shitty judicial decisions in cases from 60 years ago when the judges involved are almost certainly dead; that’s an important part of the story being told. But it starts to feel “performance-y” when it becomes a 5-10 minute rant with no chance in hell of making any difference. Maybe go into the law or direct activism to try to improve current judicial outcomes if that’s where your passion lies. Or make videos/podcasts dealing with judicial reform. I have watched/listened to those often. But I wouldn’t want to see the true crime genre I have enjoyed for years become obsessively focused on “naming and shaming” in an attempt to somehow magically hold them accountable. Other venues and other actors are better suited for those efforts.

Your use of the term “promising young man“ is actually where the idea for the movie “promising Young woman“ comes from. Just a beautiful heartbreaking story about how complicit people are to rape culture. A friend of mine was raped when she was 14 and I had to testify at the trial because I was the first one she told, and I was only 12. He got off and found not guilty at trial because they had dated in the past and his lawyers were able to convince the jury that she was a spiteful ex girlfriend crying rape after a consensual encounter which was not the case; he had sodomized her which she had never consented to before in her life and I will never forget that even though I’m 46 years old now.

@@davidbrennan5973 pretty rude to say since you apparently " love her " nobody is acting like she's a surgeon but let's see you make a video and spend countless hours researching it DOES take dedication , anything your passionate about and take time to do especially when the videos are for US thats dedication ???

@@jaredlybrook7035 Um I work 80 hours a week in a hospital and she probably makes what I make in 6 months in a week and I know my job is harder, no comparison. I’d take a job where I make millions from researching famous high profile murders, that sounds pretty east

Had to click out of this one, I’m honestly so appreciative that you put in length and kind warnings beforehand as so many creators forget to do this

Eleanor I was so jealous of how perfect you used to do your eyeliner lol but I’m loving this softer natural look you’re rocking atm. You’ve got lush skin and you’re naturally pretty! Also keep up the great work, you put in so much effort with all your research and and videos xx

Hey babe have you ever thought about doing the Kate bushell case from Devon,UK. It's one of the UKs oldest unsolved child murder and I find it really disturbing. It's been 20+ years since it happened and no further evidence has been found. I lived in the area as a child and the story always freaked me out !!
