Here’s another story to add to the “trust your instincts” pile: there was this older teenager in my neighborhood who was interested in me and my family ostensibly bc we had animals and he wanted farm work experience. For a couple weeks he would help my mom getting hay, feeding, easy chores, etc. one day I opened the door when I was home alone and there this guy was, asking to come in and talk to my mom. I told him she wasn’t home and he kinda smiled creepy at me and asked if he could come in, I said no we could wait out front on the porch. He looked disappointed but we chatted. Eventually, out of the blue, he complimented me on the smell of my skin as I had just applied lotion, and said I “smelled like a sugar cookie” and he wanted to “just eat me up”. Keep in mind I was probably 8-10 years younger than him. I immediately felt uncomfortable and told him I had chores to do inside and he could wait alone. I locked that door so fast. I told my mom everything and after that day I heard her kinda shout him down when he came back later that week for more work, and he never came back around again. It’s sometimes scary to think what could have happened if I let him in my house when I was alone. Later I also found out our farm dog would growl at him whenever he was at the farm or try to ger near the dog, wouldn’t let the guy pat him… nothing. That dog was the sweetest dog on the planet and I never saw him growl before or after. Also apparently this dude tried to get in on the younger kids friend group in the neighborhood by playing video games with one of my younger dude friends and this teenager would make lewd comments about me to this other young friend of mine. Soooooo yikes.

Hi! I am from Toronto and this case was a big part of my younger years. My aunt and I actually slept outside the Bay St. courthouse to get a seat inside for the first time Karla took the stand. When Paul was brought out, he was shackled and when he turned around he looked right at me for seconds and I had chills that I still feel when I think about it. It was super intense. When she finally came out after being called 3x, her little squeaky fake voice made everyone in the courthouse sick. I always felt she was just as disturbed as him in so many ways. Hey Bailey! You mentioned that Karla's request for a name change was denied, BUT whether the name change is legal or not, she goes by the name LEANNE TEALE and is unfortunately prancing around the Montreal area. I feel that's important for viewers to know, especially to any viewers residing in that area! Stay safe everyone!😘

On top of not knowing how involved she was at the time of the plea deal, if I remember correctly, they thought any involvement she did have was coerced, as a result of abuse by him.
