@@Imapeach1 I have to be honest. Andy had a nice voice, but was way out of his brothers league. I think of him as Barry-Lite, and Im not trying to be mean, just honest. Can you imagine being the baby brother of these iconic superstars and the incredible pressure to be as great? I often wondered if that may have contributed to his problems toward the end of his way to short life. The Bee Gees were spectacular, but never quite as great on their own, but as a group. They enhanced each others talent. Though the brothers often sang back up on his records, Andy didnt have the same creative exposure. Am I making sense? So hard to explain that little bit of something missing.

Yup, it was indeed all Barry after that. But really, Robins voice wasn't really suited for all that fluff and breathy type of songs. Not saying I preferred Barrys over-used falsetto, Nope not all, all compared to his great Natural voice!....BUT, I can't see Robin doing that Disco fluff music. Well, it worked for sending them into the stratosphere with fame and popularity. But what a Hefty life-long Price they wound up paying for it!!

The Bee Gees split for about a year and a half in the early years and Robin wrote "How Can.You Mend a Broken Heart" as the result of the pain he experienced during that time.Part of what caused their split was the rivalry between he and Barry over who should sing lead, coupled with their bolstered egos after havng become famous. Robin wrote and recorded solo during and after that time. When they reunited, they became a united front, bigger and better than ever!! You HAVE to listen to his solos, "Please" and "Wine and Roses". I wish I had been at that concert. So glad you took the recs and listened to a Robin-led song and loved his voice. This really is a great song with a unique lead vocal, and has a special atmosphere about it. When all three chime in, it's just stunning. For Robin's brilliance, of course ''I Stated a Joke'' is the song , but even their first few hits ''New York Mining Disaster'' and ''Gotta Get a Message to You'' (both catchy as hell with really interesting lyrics) will show you what he can do. I would say he is perhaps ''co-lead'' with Barry. One of their 90s hits (in UK anyway) features are killer chorus by Robin. Gotta be heard to believe it.

And that's why I always want to tell Barry to be quiet and let Robin sing! Nothing can prepare you for that glorious voice. And even in a group like the Bee Gees, Robin's voice stands out. For more Robin vocals listen to: New York Mining Disaster, I've Got to Get a Message To You, I Started A Joke, Saved By the Bell, Juliet ( the last two Robin Gibb solo efforts, later incorporated into the Bee Gees repetoire), For Whom the Bell Tolls, This Is Where I Came In, Run to Me, Alone, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart.
