The Bee Man Buys a Bolt

I know, I know, I'm not destroying a human sized hornets nest. But some of you are curious about the nuts and bolts (see what I did there?) of running a business. One of my biggest expenses is fuel. So when I saw that I could get a Chevy Bolt for less money than I owed on my truck, I jumped at the opportunity. While having a truck is great (can't wait for those Rivians to come down in price), fuel is my largest expense. So an all electric vehicle like the Bolt can save thousands of dollars a year while still fitting all of my equipment. Hopefully I did daddy Doug Demuro proud in showing you around my new ride.

Great choice! I had a 2011 Volt, my wife a 2015 Volt and then a 2018 Bolt. Great cars! The Bolt is stupid quick for the kind of car it is. Traded in the Bolt for a Mustang Mach-E GT Performance and traded in my beloved 2011 Volt for a 2020 Jaguar I-Pace First Edition. You will live the Bolt!

Well my friend to each his own you want a electric car then more power to you and it’s a Chevy at least..👍🏼…I myself I don’t like electric vehicles but If I was to ever bye one it most certainly be a Chevy.. and your right about these damn gas prices…. Here in Gaffney SC it’s $2.85 a gallon…I can’t wait for the time gas prices drop it’ll be a couple years but it’ll happen…thanks for your videos I couldn’t do it due to my reaction to stings…but at least I can watch…

I really love it. I had a first gen Volt (and subsequent a second gen) for my daily driver and really fell in love with electric drive trains

Yeah, currently driving a 2012 leaf, the battery is about dead though, gonna use it as a trade in when it cant get to work anymore. Probably gonna end up with a bolt depending upon whats available on the market.

@@mrspeigle1 yeah it's unfortunate that Nissan didn't really do much for battery management. My 2012 Volt still had full battery life in it. GM does a really good job on its battery management system

@@TheBeeMan yeah, I love my lease and the new body style looks great but the performance just isn't there when you compare it to offerings from General Motors and Tesla, not to mention some of the more offbeat potential new cars like the Hyundai ioniq. when you get into used market pricing, backseat, and maintenance availability General Motors just runs away from the rest of the competition. I would love to get a Tesla and have access to the supercharger network but I can't justify the price difference

@@mrspeigle1 same here about the Tesla. Now the the S is getting around $30k used its REALLLLL tempting but my Volt was $15k, as was the Bolt

why not buy a diesel Colorado the get great fuel economy!

Price and reliability. Newer diesels have so many emissions restrictions that they aren't so reliable anymore, unfortunately. Diesel's higher cost for fuel and oil changes offset much of the cost savings. Something like a used Bolt is cheaper, rather than more expensive and only uses about $200 a year in electricity to run 20,000 miles so it'll save me a lot more than the diesel would. I'll be hard pressed not to get an electric F150 or electric Silverado when they come out, especially since I live near where the Ultium batteries will be built

@@mrspeigle1 I'm in the camp that finds the Cyberyrick ugly unfortunately. I stayed up to watch the reveal and was so disappointed when it came out. Hopefully they look better in person but I'm more partial to the Rivian design language

@@TheBeeMan the Cyber truck kind of grew on me the more I looked at it, and rivian headlights are a major turnoff for me. When you factor the extra 30k to the price tag I just can't get behind rivian. I like the idea of the electric F-150 but I need to see a price tag for the extended range all-wheel drive before I would be willing to pull the trigger.
