I've always wanted to add AV's to my collection, but they seemed to have to many special handling needs that I've been hesitant in giving them a try. But with my new work schedule I am now thinking of switching to 100% LECA from soil as it seems to be much easier to deal with having a semi hydro setup. I may have to give them a try once the rest of my plants adjust to the new substrate. Thanks so much for these guides. 👍

Hellooooo, Ms. Lecca Queen!!!! I have 2 questions. When you move a plant that is in a 4-inch pot to lecca and you want to add a moss pole, how many sizes do you go up to accommodate the plant and the pole? 2. When it's time to add water to your lucca plant, will you always use your Foliage mixture, or do you use plain water? Some said if you use fertilizer every time you water, will you be overdoing it with the fertilizer? Thank you so much.

Wow... I purchased 3 hoyas from supermarket around late July early August. I fail every year. So far these are doing well and I want to transfer. Just received a bag of leca from Amazon so I'm going to try with one first. Nervous because they are my favorite houseplants. Thanks for sharing! I hope it goes well 🥺 Dee, NY

I am in the same boat. I have a Hoya curtisii, bella, australis, pubicalyx, and a Hindu Rope (blooming shockingly). Never really had them before. Had these for two years now and I haven’t touched them! As far as lighting they’re indoors, on the second floor, hanging in a south-facing window. There is a sheet curtain in case the morning sun is too strong, but usually it is fine without the barrier. I think it is ideal. And it’s a warm room… bordering on HOT in summer. But I leave the windows open… I know they’re in the same soil that I bought them in, but I don’t want to shock them, even if they’re gonna do better… 😬

I am glad it will go well, I have found violets to be very easy to transition to leca, and when they settle in, they grow like crazy!

@@erikm8372why repot them in LECA if they’re doing so good as is? They have to be happy and healthy from whatever you’re doing now.

I was just watching one of your older videos regarding African violets & saw this new video in my notifications. African Violets are such glamorous plants! I am wondering though, when you soak your LECA do you rinse it with tap water to get rid of the dirt first and then let it sit and soak in the special sauce, or do you straight away put fresh LECA into the special sauce to soak? Thank you for all of your amazing videos, not gonna lie i been binge watching 😂
@TheLecaQueen Жыл бұрын
Yes I rinse it. I recommend watching this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZ7MgWyGfbWtqZI

Hi! Just a question, once the roots have grown deep down and reach the bottom, do u leave those roots soaked inside the water pool at the bottom? Would it cause root rot? Same q goes to all your other leca plants.
@NicoletteRoux11 ай бұрын
once roots grow into the water at the bottom they are adapted to that kind of environment so they won't rot. They are basically "water roots". The roots you are putting in at first are "soil roots" and the new ones that grow from being in leca will be "leca/water roots".

What happens to the wet leaves? Won't the leaves rot?
@TheLecaQueen Жыл бұрын
In my experience they don't, I address this in one of my earlier videos as well. Think about it, how do African violets live in nature, they get water on their leaves all the time. I reckon they do just fine and mine have proved it to me.
@Nolasusan16 ай бұрын
Spraying the leaves is NOT RECOMMENDED…..worse yet wetting the entire plant can burn the leaves. Also, spraying like you did with a heavy spray can kill it. Also, please soak the Leca for at least 8 hrs before planting.
@TheLecaQueen6 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comments and watching my video. I wash and soak my leca for more than the 8 hours you have recommended, see how I do it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZ7MgWyGfbWtqZI About wetting the leaves are you able to refer me to some literature where they say not to wet the leaves or they will burn? Thanks. I am interested to know how they arrived at this recommendation as all my violets are thriving despite my wetting the leaves. Thank you.
