I use truffle salt(with coconut oil) in my popcorn machine and it's better than any theater popcorn iv had...i got the salt from Costco and they had actual truffles there. It was 4 truffles in 2 jars with a little bit of oil in each jar. It also came with a cutter thing...

I am from Qatar .My family love to spend time looking for truffle . This year only my uncle gave me 2 kilos of white truffles .we cook them within a week from finding them , usually with rice or in the oven with butter or even in the microwave and the taste is still powerful . I think boiling truffles with rice is the worst method , yet it is the most popular way to eat it in the Arabian Gulf .

I dug up something underneath a tree stump. I noticed hundreds of little tiny mushrooms growing and then seen this weird thing half buried around the mushrooms. When I dug it up it was a slimy oval shapped thing,lol. When I split it open there was a round white substance inside. Not sure if this is a truffle. But when I started digging, there are hundreds of these things. Not sure what they are. There is root system that's connecting to the mushrooms growing on the ground
@AdamWitt4 жыл бұрын
Hmm. That sounds really cool/odd. Not sure what those are. Be sure to report back, lol.

There also connected to the tree root system. I think they are white truffles but they aren't ripe and some animal has tried digging at em is what it looks like

Buy some good truffle oil. Although it is expensive, when you think about it you’re not going to be cooking with it all the time. A bottle of olive oil goes by much quicker than a truffle one. My truffle oil bottles usually last me 4-5 months even with frequent use.

There are many species,of Truffles over 40 in fact, though relatively few of them have a real market value. Cultivated varieties include: - Black or Perigord truffle (Tuber melanosporum) - Winter truffle (Tuber brumale) - Summer truffle (Tuber aestivum var. aestivum) - Burgundy truffle (Tuber aestivum var. uncinatum) - Oregon Black Truffle (Leucangium carthusianum) - Oregon White Truffle (Tuber oregonense) Not all truffle species are commercially available in the trade.

I think it's an aesthetic thing. But yes the outside of the truffle is rougher than the smooth interior. I think the darkened ring around the truffle is gorgeous when sliced thin.

I am definatly no expert on terminology but somthing about using the phrase "plant species" has always seemed to me a better fit in describing somthing sentient (although in all likelihood it probably is the correct way to phrase it) such as "animal species". Iv always felt like the term "plant variety" made better fit than "plant species" but on the other hand that's probably why I dont get paid to define proper terms for various things.
