The Beginning of an ALTERNATE STORYLINE! | Subnautica: Return of the Ancients - Update

We start off today’s video in the Crag Field biome. Now, normally nothing special can really be found here besides an alien teleporter and the wreckage of a life pod. It’s always been one of those biomes I never really paid much attention to. Well, that is until now. On the very edge of the biome, right next to the void, we can now find some sort of broken piece of architect technology. I have reason to believe that this is a main piece of the storyline for the Gargantuan Leviathan or Return of the Ancients mod and with it, I’ve kind of started to piece together the alternate Subnautica storyline that will be told...

What if the SOS single in the morse code near the void was actually.... AL-AN trying to speak to Ryley? I doubt his single would be able to reach that far on the planet, but Below Zero takes place around 10 years after the first Subnautica I believe, so it could be possible he was able to use enough power to get an SOS signal to Ryley. Maybe he could be a tour guide in a void base?

Theory time: The architects were reviving the gargantuan leviathan to guard something important like super secret info or a leader and one of them turned and ripped apart the void base tossing the blinking light that now gives out a distress signal onto the seabed.

the crashed alien tech looks like something that the aliens would lock onto the gargantuan leviathans back/spine to lock into place. or the hooked it on its back to control it form its spine and the leviathan broke free leaving the operators stranded near the void.

I won't be playing this mod but, I will enjoy the content creators like igp doing a stream or KZbin playthrough. This mod looks phenomenal and I have nothing but respect for the dev team behind it. This is basically impossible, but I would really like it if Unknown Worlds started some sort of program similar to Bethesda's Creation Club. I have a theory. The mountains are also on the edge of the void, so since ghost leviathans dont spawn there, but there is a skeleton of one, either they once lived there and the gargs killed them out, or the skeleton is an adult ghost from the void which simply died of old age and came to die on land instead of floating in the void

I can tell you a few things from me 1 crashed ancients technology can be some kind of drone to scan and study leviathan or take water samples from different places in the crater for the presence of kharra bacteria. 2 while exploring the void base or at a distance from which you would see it, the gargantuan could destroy the base. 3 as there are rumors that the developers of RotA are working with the original creator of the atlas submarine model, that coudl mean that the atlas can be added to the game to be used for travelig to the void base and be safer then cyclops. I have not written many things but no one would want to read like 3 times more things and sorry for english. And have a nice day or night :)

Isn't there a third variant for the Gargantua? I seem to recall a skeletal version that was all bones. Anyway, it makes sense that they'd put one by each of the bases since I remember them saying that they'd bring you to it.

The crashed tech reminds me of a ghost leviathan's bone structure for some reason. Perhaps the architects had created an artificial leviathan to make other leviathans feel fear from it and then they could gather information for conductive research in peace? Kindof like the Spy Pengling in below zero. You noticed that it had an S.O.S beep feature, and I think the architects had implemented this to notify them that there is a higher tier leviathan that they didn't know about. It crashed next to the home of the Gargantuan Leviathan, a coincidence? I think not. Perhaps they hadn't done some void exploration yet since it is classed as an ecological dead zone and they didn't know about the Garg's existence. This leads to the void base you mentioned. If I were an architect and knew about the Garg, I wouldn't make a void base in it's home. It's size and attacks could easily destroy it, I wouldn't take risks for a base there. Maybe in the crashed "leviathan" tech you could find some long lost architect research or something? Or maybe camera footage that includes features of a Gargantuan Leviathan. In the moonpool you showed, the front kindof looks like a head. Maybe my theory is correct and it is an artifical leviathan. If it is true, that would mean it had to be constructed and launched. Launched and customized in that moonpool.

Had this idea. So looking at the alien sub, the lights on the side and the 3 head lights on the front on either side, it has a lot of similarities to the leviathan. Now if i remember right i heard something about this mod allowing us to create our own alien base pieces. So theiry is that well either need to build or activate an alien sub to get close at least to the base. Reason I say close is because it appears that this camafloge tactic failed.

The placement of the juvenile Gargs being relatively close to the alien bases and the fact the Architects have cannonically taken samples from the Gargantuan skeleton, leads me to suspect that the Gargantuan was artificially created and “programmed” to protect the area surrounding the caches. With the adult Garg out in the void protecting the crater from anything trying to enter or leave it.
