Listening to your closing words, something struck me: due to your channel & all the recordings, your grandchildren, great-grandchildren & even further generations will be able to see you build their generational home, will see your faces, hear your voices, see your loving relationship, see your hard work, will see the garden start from bare earth, will see you clearing snow: will see YOU & know you. Apart from leaving the legacy of a home, you leave them all you. Personally I think this is priceless ❤

Reminds me of all the home movies from when i was a kid in the 60s & 70s It was fascinating to see my parents as young people before kids and grandparents I had never met.... This really is the blessings for generations.... Their kids will treasure these when they have their own kids and the stories will be shared...

TIP, You can cut the drywall to length with a 48" Tee Square while it's stacked against the wall. It doesn't matter if you score/cut the front or the back of the drywall as it will still break on that same cut nice and clean...all done with the board standing up vertically. This saves you from picking up each sheet and putting it on the saw horses...

The journey from those nerve racking days when you guys just moved to the property and having a truly empty slate, to being able to walk into a bedroom with drywall, AMAZING! It’s so exciting to see just how far you guys have come. I watched some older videos this week. Back to when you guys first got the property. With the making of a driveway, putting in the well, and getting the footings in for the house. Now you have drywall!! I’m so glad things are going smoothly and I love seeing all of you guys keeping the sense of humor during this stressful season of your lives.

Melissa, your words touched me deeply. I've been a carpenter, a framer and a finisher for over 50 years. I've done start to finish, the whole garment more times than I really want to remember but your words brought back almost every nail I've driven, every trick to get the job done(not short cuts but like bending a nail so it could be hit squarely and driven in an area hard to get to with a hammer.) I'm now 71, retired to take care of my wife though I'd rather still be working but life is what life is. To me your finish was massive. THANK YOU and thank you and Jeremy and the kiddos for putting up with us. Mike

Again, I love the words of wisdom at the end of this video. I built two houses in my life and amazingly, felt the same way about not seeing the studs again. We made a point of writing something on the studs in each room before covering them with drywall. I got to visit the people who now own the first house I built and was invited in to see the changes they made to the house. They told me they got a kick out of reading the studs in the walls they opened for renovations. I am getting old now and miss my youth and the times spent building our houses. Savour your time together, it goes so fast.

Your closing statements….. spot on. You only will need to look at all the footage you have taken, to relive all The blood, sweat, and tears, of each step you have completed. Just think, it wasn’t that long ago, you were harvesting the multi colored corn, at your other home. The planning was years in the making. As one of thousands, that have followed you and your family, I say thank you! You may be covering the studs, (don’t forget for everybody to “autograph “ the studs. Name, date, etc. it would really be fun, for each of you to write your own story, briefly of course, or the youngsters draw some pictures, seal everything and put your own little history book somewhere in the studs. Years later, when a couple of generations have lived in this home, what a finding they will have, when they want to update! Yeah…..I’m an old sentimental gal! God bless, Bev in Maine.

A word of advice. Make a walkway in your attic. It will give the insulation guy a place to work from and you to move around in the future without messing up your insulation. Take a 2x4 across the webs at 14" on every other truss Then run a pair of parallel 2x4's on edge on top of those and put a sheet of OSB around a foot to 16" wide

I had a couple of learning experiences like that. First was covid --- I realized I didn't need to go to the shop as often; recently my homephone died and so far I am doing without and enjoying the silence. I have the mobile for emergencies but that's too expensive for conversations. I also realized that without much of a social life, the clothing situation could be reduced quite well. Lockdowns have shown me how to re-evaluate my lifestyle. Loving the house, it will be spectacular.

Builder tip: a easy way too finish around windows ; is too use drywall on the sides and top , and using wood for the sill and apron. I love your commentary about losing the memories of building. I can tell you though as a 58 year old woman, I still remember every memory of my father building our small but grand home. How my baby brother burned himself on the wood stove cooking Beene weenees to picking out paint and carpet colors for our rooms to hanging the “cheap” chandelier in the living room and using a homemade outhouse in the tall cockleburs. Trust me you won’t forget these milestones. I was 9-10 years old at the time. Bless you guys!

Hell Yes. (It's me, new channel) Hell Yes, you two never cease to amaze me. The whole thing the whole production. The producing a home and life for generations to come. The video, audio. The producing the memory. On top of raising children, livestock and food. THAT is amazing. Blessings

you can cut your drywall while it's stacked against the wall. Less handling. Just mark the length and set your square on the mark. hold the base of the square with your toe and cut. pull it away from the wall an fold the cutoff back. Cut the back side and you're done

After watching this video for the fifth time, I was wondering why you had those two ladders in the middle of the floor when moving the drywall to the saw horses. When cutting your drywall, you could use a four foot T square and your rotozip thingy to make perfect cuts that don't need to be sanded. Love your videos!! I can't get enough of you. Aloha from Aina Haina, Hawaii!! My son is in the Honolulu Police Academy right now in his second month. We are so proud of him!!!

I am so excited for your progress on getting the sheetrock hung. Although there was no way I could hang the sheetrock in my pole barn by myself and ultimately hired a contractor to complete the drywall, I will never forget the overwhelming joy I felt the day I entered my shop to see that all my hard work constructing the interior had culminated to an almost finished product. Congratulation, Souza Family! You’re almost there!

Also, the wheels on the lift are made to unlock and spread apart so you can push the lift right up to the wall.

Before we finished replacing/hanging all the drywall in our home, we wrote Scripture on the studs of some of the rooms. I am reminded that God's word is part of the make-up of our home and our lives! Congratulations! Amazing build!

You should write a book of all your sentiments at the ends of your episodes. I'm always touched by your final thoughts. The idea that the exciting moments of framing and roof trusses will be covered and forgotten, but remain as the structure of what will become the familiar walls of your home. I find myself tearful at your sweet words.
