Too bad the Brits & French burnt down the Old Summer Palace in 1860, Yuan Ming Yuan. That's even bigger. It's 3x the size of Versailles. It was also looted too. Otherwise, it would've been an awesome tourist destination today.

I was in a Beijing a few months ago - first time I'd visited in years. It is a shell of what it used to be. Wangfujing St. is essentially dead. I couldn't freely access Tiananmen Sq anymore (tried going at night, which used to be totally ok - it was an open space). The police stopped me and said I couldn't go as it was "closed" and I could go the next day if I made reservation. Beijing used to be a cool city but I have to be honest, I would NOT recommend going there... if you come to China there are MUCH better places to visit. And also, Ryan, please be a little bolder in your commentary next time. This was quite weak - and I say that with respect. Seemed like you were scared and walking on eggshells.

Haha, yes, you underestimate the sizes of the tourist sites in Beijing. You need at least half a day for the Summer Palace and the Palace Museum, to really appreciate the history and the architecture. And you also need 'red bull' energy drink as I can hear you panting away! 💪😂
