Wouldn't recommend Ice Breakers gum since it also contains maltitol, mannitol, aspartame, sorbitol and sucralose. Get a gum that only contains xylitol as it's sweetener such as Zellies or Pur gum

@@marissakeynes2532 Correct, I refer everyone to the videos by Dr Ellie Phillips, who owns the Zellies company & has put together an oral care system that actually works. It Incorporates eating the Zellies, but also Includes things you buy at the store, I.e. particular. Crest toothpaste, A certain Listerine mouthwash, ACT mouthwash & another mouthwash called Closys, which I had to order from eBay as my Walmart doesn’t sell it. I know the Zellies make a difference in amount of plaque you mouth will have, because recently my dental hygienist made a comment on how little plaque I had, so she said I am doing something different. I just said aha, & left it at that. The tip for eating the zellies is that she recommends after you eat that, to not eat or drink anything for at least an hour. It corrects the PH of your saliva in order to heal & remineralize your teeth. She said to avoid products with Sorbitol, as studies have found that actually makes plaque in your mouth.

In Finland we have xylitol everywhere. Almost every single bubble gum here is made with xylitol instead of sugar. Here kids have to take a gum after every meal because it prevents acid attacks.

It's not artificial, it's a molecular compound of sugar alcohol. Refined xylitol is no more man-made than refined cane sugar.

thanks for promoting this. I'm an avid Xylitol user. I have used Dr Elle's total teethcare system with great results. Not sure why flouride alone is considered the gold standard in america for decades. Yet in other countries in europe and asia, xylitol is King and encouraged.

@@tam1438 My dentist suggest xylitol after meals. at least 6grams a day spread out. I havent bought the bag of xylitol but you could probably try that method. I use xylitol mints off of amazon or xylitol gum. Also brush your teeth twice a day. I had bleeding gums before that were red and puffy looking. I have pink gums now and bleeding went away. I read that Sea or Himalayan salt rinses are good for teeth and contain loads of minerals! I also use a gum that only has Xylitol in it with natural spearmint and peppermint oil. So far, so good! Tally Ho!

I use XYLIMELTS for dry mouth (although I don't have that issue) after seeing a podcast about benefits of Xilytol helping to clear out bacteria in mouth and reducing tooth decay and sinus issues. You just place a melt towards back of gums before you sleep and it melts eventually.

remember you want to get the mouth back to alkaline after eating. they are selling you a product that does that. You can order xylitol pure and also your area may or likely has alkaline water and they also sell arm and hammer baking soda and alkaline water in a bottle that you dont drink the water in one day you milk it out and use it to swish to soften tartar etc. so there is alot they arent telling you

I just bought wriggly's extra gum after finding out about xylitol which is available in the UK. Had to check the back on the ingredients list though to double check and strangely some versions of extra had it and other didn't. Some were using a different sweetner as it was still sugar free but no xylitol.

How about gum that has sorbitol & maltitol? Prime example is orbit bubble gum. My son loves his stuff, but I’m worried about the ingredients and what they might do. He also does like to chew icebreakers ice cubes, so I was happy to find your video. Thank you so much really great information!

The great thing about orbit bubble gum is that it is flavored with artificial sweeteners and contains zero sugar. Just like Xylitol, sorbitol does have good evidence supporting that it can reduce tooth decay. However, Xylitol has stronger evidence. Having said that, it is just fine to chew sorbitol, I do all the time. Now if your son has had a lot of tooth decay as of recent or has always struggled with tooth decay, maybe have him stick to only the ice breakers ice cubes.

Just because a gum has Xylitol in it doesn't mean it is healthy. Choose gums that Aspartame free and if you have an allergy, check if the gum has your ingredient.

It definitely helps gum health, I dissolve some in my mouth and swish it around for a few minutes (sometimes before a meal, sometimes afterwards). I've noticed a good deal of improvement in my gums, which were red and puffy in some spots previously despite brushing and flossing. But if you've got severe periodontitis, don't mess around on your own for too long or you may lose teeth. Xylitol can be combined with getting help from a professional that you trust. All the best!! Hello! Thanks for commenting. Fluoride in healthy amounts is ESSENTIAL for enamel health, such as fluoridation of the public water system AND fluoride toothpaste. When doing research on fluoride, make sure the sources are reliable sources.

Maltitol is also a sugar alcohol and it’s used as a sweetener. It is found in a lot of food products as a sweetener and thickener. When it comes to teeth, xylitol will be superior when preventing tooth decay.

Those candy's & gums ya'll showed Have other sugar alcohols plus Xylitol - combining other sugar alcohols with Xylitol, diminishes Xylitols effects! So those gums are garbage. Pure birch Xylitol gum or candy is what should be used! At least they're recommending Xylitol! Even though they don't know much about it! 😂 I've been using Xylitol gum for few months now. It's great stuff. It's not like the other sugar alcohols!. It kills the bad bacteria while feeding the good bacteria! Streptococcus mutans are what are Responsible for cavities & Xylitol eradicates Strep Mutans! 💚

Great video! Thank you Drs!! For people watching, Icebreakers gum contains Aspartame, and the blue colorings. My family tried to avoid them both as much as possible. As for favorite gums.... I am actually working on my own creation based on Xylitol and real natural colors. Now, I am a sucker (no pun intended) for Bazooka!! Doesn't xylitol come from corn or birch trees?? How would that make it artificial? Just curious.

I've been chewing gum daily for 3 years. Nicobate LoL. Xylitol is expensive. stride gum has xylitol but stride gum is discontinued. You dentists need to do more with legislation or advertising for xylitol gum so it can be more affordable and more known to the public through promoting it.

I quit smoking BTW completely but I use nicobate like all the time. Without nicobate I needed fillings because of poor oral hygiene, since using gum my dentist sends me home after the check up and says "you don't need fillings" so that's a win. I'm 38 and only just started to do oral hygiene. I never brushed and drank coke all the time. "Hold on to your wigs!!!" Yes I purely neglected my teeth. But it's because I hated brushing. I don't have gum disease but I use neutrafluor mouthwash (I don't trust most toothpaste) I use peroxide mouthwash but prefer neutrafluor (everybody prefers different toothpaste that's why the toothpaste section in the shops is massive selection) I never had sensitive teeth though because I never brushed. Now I brush with herbal toothpaste. I love neutrafluor mouthwash. Also I started brushing when I found out that you just run the toothpaste on not scrub your teeth. Like rub not scrub. When I scrubbed brushed my hand and arm would get tired and sore. Also I switched to power sonic colgate battery powered toothbrush it's like $3 with a energizer battery in it because electronic toothbrushes were a nucance

I’d recommend xylitol heavily. Mild-moderate perio here and it sealed up my pockets to 1-3 mil again. Of course, it should *not* replace flossing and brushing but serve as an adjunct.
